Synopsis

Cade.

He had her love. Her devotion. He destroyed her with it!

Years I loved Faye Avery from a distance, watched my brother have something he didn’t deserve. She was always too good for him. Dante had a need for control and that grew with him from childhood, infecting her to bend to his whim.

When Dante abandoned her, the girl who put his future and needs before her own, I rediscovered the girl who lost herself to the heartache. She blossomed and flourished in the light of the love she deserved – until he robbed me of her. Breaking her down, dimming the essence of the woman she had become.

Dante had a darkness inside him that led him down a path of depravity. He was too far gone. He functioned on corruption, humiliation, power and retribution, and all for something that never happened.

What he forgets is this! I not only wear his face, I carry the darkness inside of me too, and my wrath will coat him with it so thick he will drown under the rain of my reckoning.

He wants Star, a memory of a girl he used to know. He stole Faye, a woman who owns my heart and is the cadence in mine.

I will find him.

I will take her from him.

And then I will kill him.

Review

I didn’t know what to expect heading back into Dante’s fucked up world in D.H. Sidebottom and Ker Dukey’s Deception series, but I knew that it was going to be unlike any other ride I’ve ever been on due to the subject matter and the players involved in this dark as hell experience. Cadence will push readers even further into the madness and chaos that surrounds Dante, Faye, and Cade as everything comes to a head and lines are crossed that there will be no coming back from. There’s a thin line between love and hate as well as madness and genius, and Dante personifies both of these ideas as his plan to make his Star suffer for what she did to him all those years ago gets darker and more sadistic with each misspoken word by her and attempts from Cade to save the girl who owns them both, body and soul.

Dante lost his humanity a long time ago when he decided to sell his soul for revenge. He’s one of the darkest and deadliest male characters I’ve read. His hatred for Cade and Faye has become a second skin to him, and without it, he doesn’t know how to live. There is no saving Dante at this point; he’s too far gone…too demonic. Faye’s “betrayal” shattered him, and he became a much different person as he worked around the clock to take back what he deems as his by any means necessary.

Faye’s heart and soul belong to one man, and it’s Cade. Regardless of how much she loved Dante – that version of Dante is no longer, which is clearly demonstrated in a variety of depraved ways. The boy she loved is gone, and there’s definitely no saving the sadistic bastard he has become. In Façade, Faye’s strength and determination were undermined due to the drugs she was injected with – as Star, she felt like a coward and gave in way too easily to Dante’s maniacal demands. But as Faye, she knows how to play the game and she primes Dante on a number of occasions to allow her plan to come to fruition and save herself and Cade from Dante’s end game.

Cade may be Dante’s twin, and he may harbor dark tendencies as well, but he knows how to suppress them and when to let them reign over him. He wants payback on Dante for taking Faye, but he also needs to understand what happened between Faye and Dante regardless of Faye’s desire for him to leave it alone. Cade and Dante may be brothers, but Faye is the other half of his soul, and he’ll walk through whatever hell Dante has created to reclaim her. He’s faith and trust in Faye is going to be tested on numerous occasions, but it’s his actions when it counts that truly illustrate the type of man Cade is.

Readers need to be prepared to have their mind blown with every twist and turn that Sidebottom and Dukey take them on as each act of betrayal and deception is brought to the surface, and when everything is said and done, lives will be lost and forever changed regardless of the outcome.

Cadence is dark romance at its finest. The writing and storyline flow extremely well and allow readers into the minds of all three main characters, which is absolutely essential in understanding every decision each of them makes as they play this sick and twisted game.

I can’t wait to see what comes out of the fabulous minds of Ker Dukey and D.H. Sidebottom next.

I have always had a passion for storytelling, whether it be through lyrics or bed time stories with my sisters. I wanted to be an actress growing up so I could live many roles but I learned early on that my mind was too active… I would want to change the script.I would watch films and think of ways they could of improved the story if they took another direction so i thought it best that i tell my own.

My mum would always have a book in her hand when I was young and passed on her love for reading, inspiring me to venture into writing my own. I tend to have a darker edge to my writing. Not all love stories are made from light, some are created in darkness but are just as powerful and worth telling.

When I’m not lost in the world of characters I love spending time with my family. I’m a mum and that comes first in my life but when I do get down time I love attending music concerts or reading events with my younger sister.

You can find me on Facebook where i love interacting with my readers.
