Synopsis

I don’t know what I was thinking when I hired someone to attack me. Maybe I was bored, or lonely, or there was a void so deep inside of me that I needed something explosive to fill it.

It was supposed to be safe. A thrill. A way to break through the monotony of everyday life. It was an illusion of danger that I could walk away from as soon as it was over.

Except that it wasn’t. Because I had been in danger long before I ever invited it into my life.

———————

My mission is almost complete. The bubbling boil of vengeance that heats my blood might finally simmer.

She is the last piece of the puzzle. Once I destroy her, everyone who ever hurt me will have paid their debt.

It was supposed to be quick and easy, but as soon as I met her it got complicated.

Very complicated.

Review

Payback. Vengeance. Retribution. Destruction.

These are the ideas and actions that have consumed Tax Draconi’s life. He lives by the code of claiming the debts that people owe him and his sister, and he never falters from that path. He brings hell and damnation down on his victims, and he enjoys every torturous minute of it because to him, he’s simply delivering justice; he’s ridding the world of schemers and liars, allowing his blackened soul to be free to wreak the havoc it craves.

But his last victim – the last person he needs to collect from may just be his downfall as well OR maybe she’ll be the one to humanize and redeem him if the savage beast within can be tamed by the one person Tax believes deserves what he owes her the most.

Debt is not for the faint of hearts. It’s a dark read that isn’t afraid to cross boundaries – ones that need to be crossed because it illustrates just how debased and immoral the path Tax’s life has taken since his and his sister’s lives were shattered. Tax’s humanity has been stripped; he’s become a man hellbent on destroying everyone who has, in one way or another, turned him into the deplorable man who now stands before readers with one sole objective – own Mia Tibbet – make her his slave – humiliate, defile, and abuse her and then obliterate her, ensuring that once and for all, no one can inflict any further pain on him or his sister. But what Tax wasn’t counting on was Mia humanizing him – making him feel – showing herself to be someone who is good and pure and quite a bit kinky.

Mia wants to be the chaotic mess that Tax creates in her; Tax allows Mia’s “put together” life to be shaken at its core and no matter how much she should loathe this “vicious, mysterious, and gorgeous demon,” she can’t help but desire his touches and crave the damage he inflicts on her body and her heart, which is all kinds of fucked up and Mia seems to know that, but she still can’t help but want to understand this debt Tax thinks she owes him, and in doing so, maybe Tax will actually want her for more than just someone to use and abuse for his own personal pleasure.

For a man who doesn’t do feelings, readers witness Tax’s constant struggle to maintain his vengeful course and not allow Mia to throw him off kilter. But when the past molds into the present, and Tax reaches a new understanding about everything that played out, where does that leave him and Mia…what does a man who has lived and breathed payback do when all debts have been paid?

Nina G. Jones takes readers on one hell of a dark and fucked up ride in Debt. The story Jones crafts allows readers to delve into the psyche of man whose sole purpose in life is to scheme and fuck his way into the lives of those he must destroy. Tax’s mind is not a place most people want to be because there doesn’t seem to be any part of him that has remained unscathed from his destructive mission for all of these years. But with Mia, he slowly becomes a different version of Tax, one that sees her for more than a debt to be collected, which infuriates him and forces him to make choices that completely sends his plan off course.

Jones’ storytelling – the way she mixes flashbacks into the present day events – allows Tax and Mia’s connection to slowly unfold. There are two back stories being simultaneously told, and when they finally mesh together to give readers a complete picture, everything drastically changes not just for us but for Tax and Mia as well.

Debt is an emotional read – one that will have readers second guessing their own morality as they hear what truly happened to Tax and his sister all those years ago. It’s a story that will have readers question whether or not there’s justification in actions that rid the world of monsters and evil doers. It’s a book that will leave readers wondering if Tax – an anti-hero at his core – has any of the boy he used to be inside of him and can be a man who learns to live beyond the debts he collected.

Outstanding read! Can’t wait to see what Nina G. Jones has for readers next.

Excerpt

I spin again to face him, and I hike my dress up just under my ass, while straddling one of his legs. His eyes are affixed on mine, like we are only two people in this crowded club. I ride his thigh, rubbing my bare pussy against him, as I lick my lips and run a hand through my hair.

My chest presses against the firmness of his torso, my nipples stiffening from the contact.

“Please, dance with me,” I beg in a mewl.

His hand threads through my hair, the other grabs my ass and pulls me up and against his thigh, applying more pressure against him.

Brick by brick.

And we move in sync: slow, rhythmic grinding. Eye to eye. Lids barely parted. Sweat beading. Low moans vanish into the air. The deafening music drowns out any conflicted feelings that remain. He tugs my hair and extends my neck, grazing his teeth against my chin, the tip of his tongue awakening the sensitive nerve endings. His hand squeezes my half-exposed ass, and everything lights up. My nipples and clit, a partnership of arousal, tense in ecstasy as they stroke against the man who sets me on fire. He is also the only person who can put me out.

My moans grow louder, but they are drowned out in the safety of the music. And like the flashing lights in the club, I become ablaze with flickering energy, throwing my head back, arching my spine as he supports me, as he lets me use his body, his smell, his taste, his overpowering masculine energy to put out the blaze that he ignites inside of me.

I collapse onto him, grasping his shirt, taking in his smell, the warmth of his broad chest, completely lost in the sensory experience that is Tax. I smile as I burrow my face into his chest, drunk off the mixture of alcohol and lust.
