REVIEW

Just like Bleu’s overwhelming and consuming need to avenge her mother’s death and look the man in the eyes who shredded her life before she took his, my desire to find out how Bleu was going to infiltrate the Scottish Mafia and exact her revenge on the bastard who changed every aspect of who she was and how she lived lured me in and held me in its grasp until the last page of book one of the Sin Trilogy was read. It’s a brilliantly written story with amazing characters and a storyline that will leave readers wondering what will win out – Bleu’s goals or her feelings for a man she shouldn’t love – the monster’s son – the one who turned her into a soul hell bent of revenge.

Infiltrate. Hunt. Punish. Execute.

These four actions have defined Bleu MacAllister’s existence since her last breaths were returned to her. Every part of her life has been training for her ultimate op – the one where she could finally take back her life from the man who had stolen it so long ago. All pieces of the puzzle had finally fallen into place and now it was time for her to execute her plan. There would be no going back once this rogue operation began, but once it was over, she’d be able to move on. But regardless of how meticulous Bleu’s planning has been, she never planned for her heart to override her mind and to change the name of the game so soon after it had begun. But that’s exactly what happened – all thanks to Sinclair Breckenridge. Sin becomes a game changer for Bleu and her quest; by beginning a relationship with him, Bleu infiltrates much more than just The Fellowship. But what that means for both of them – two people who sit on opposite sides and are unwilling to give up their positions despite how they feel for one another – remains unclear.

Bleu and Sin are incredible characters who truly showed all parts of their personalities as the story progressed. Bleu is definitely one of my favorite female heroines. She’s fierce and driven. She uses her emotions to push herself, but she never lets them overwhelm her or make her lose her control because there’s too much at stake. She’s closed herself off for so long that she doesn’t even truly know who she is anymore. But Sinclair helps to open her up and forces her to realize that there’s more to life than revenge – except Bleu doesn’t know how to live knowing the man who took her mother’s life is still breathing.

Sinclair Breckenridge is a commanding presence as one of the head members of The Fellowship. He’s a man surrounded by danger and death on a continual basis, and he revels in that dark life. But there’s more to Sinclair than the wrathful man The Fellowship members see, and Bleu is the perfect woman to help unleash those qualities, but it will be on his terms for as long as he can stand his ground and not give into the beautiful woman who consumes him mind, body, and soul.

A Necessary Sin is a fantastic first book in what will undoubtedly be one kickass trilogy. Bleu and Sin’s story has everything a reader wants in a book – it’s dramatic, suspenseful, and full of steamy scenes. And, even though it ends on a cliffhanger, Georgia Cates picked a perfect spot to end it, leaving readers wanting more but also knowing that the feelings Bleu and Sin have for each other will now guide their decisions regardless of what their future together will be.

TEASER

Sinclair Breckenridge’s POV:

“I’m in the business of boundaries and limits. I’m aware of what mine are and how far I’m willing to go to get my job accomplished. It can include lying and sometimes stealing.” I wait a moment for driving the last nail into the coffin. “And perhaps the occasional killing.”

“How do you feel when you do those things?”

“Powerful.” I purposely choose that word because it’s the one she used to describe how she felt when she brought Duff to his knees. I want her to see just how similar we are.

She watches out the window for a minute before speaking again. “Do you like the way it feels?”

I can’t lie. I get a high from it. “Very much.”

Another minute passes. “Okay.”

What? “Just … okay?”

“Would you like me to be horrified?” she asks. “I can do that if it would make you feel better or improve your opinion of me.”

She’s no fucking Pollyanna. So I guess there’s no reason for her to pretend to be. “No. Okay works for me.”

I’m not sure if I should be disturbed by her lack of appall. It feels like a double standard to be shocked by an absence of dismay.

My God, has the pot met the kettle? “I wish I could get inside your head.”

“No, you don’t,” she says. “My mind is a dark place to be.”

I think I may have met the perfect woman. In her eyes, I’m not a monster at all.
