This isn’t the man I married.
The man I married was strong, beautiful and pure.
The man I married cherished our lives together.
The man I married loved me.
This…this isn’t that man.
One night. One accident. It changes everything.
I wish I could tell you the exact moment he fell out of love with me.
I wish I could tell you there was hope. That I hung on. That I fought.
I wish I could tell you that we fixed it.
That happily ever after was just out of our grips.
It wasn’t. I ran. In the dead of the night, I packed my things and I left him.
Now I’m back. He’s still the same man. A deadly underground fighter for the House of Obsidian. He’s still dangerous. He’s still broken. I still love him.
This is the part where I’m supposed to turn back around and run… But I don’t.

Review
Max and Belle
Two college students who instantly connected despite their differing social statuses and varying experiences.
Two young people in love who marry and start a great life together.
Two people who destroy one another due to demons and giving up.
Now ~ Five years later
Max and Belle
Two people who are merely coping and surviving, trying to forget the love of their life and the pain they caused
Two people who are wrapped in pain and heartache and have a hard time letting go of past mistakes or looking at it from the other person’s perspective.
Two people who can’t deny the chemistry between them despite the time and distance.
In Flawed Heart, Bella Jewel gives readers another heart wrenching story of love gone wrong and the fallout of bad decisions and miscommunication. Both Max and Belle had their reasons for the actions that tore their marriage apart, and at first, I placed the blame solely on Max’s shoulders, gaining insight mostly from Belle. But as the story continued and I learned more about the situation from Max’s point of view, I understood his motivations…not that I agreed with them or how he handled everything, but his demons became clearer.
I liked the switch between the past and present because it allows readers to understand where Max and Belle began and when everything went wrong. I did feel like the pacing was a bit too fast, though, and I would have liked to have seen more of the now sections in Max’s point of view because I feel like I missed a big piece of the puzzle by not completely understanding his frame of mind during this time.
Regardless of those small concerns, I enjoyed Max and Belle’s story. Bella Jewel does a great job of illustrating Belle’s mixed emotions as well as the deep connection that they continued to have even while apart. The sexual chemistry between Max and Belle ignites the pages and we get a true sense of how good they can be together and how deep their love for each other goes.
Bring on Rainer’s story!
