Malcolm Saint claimed Rachel in the first book, willingly showing her who he is and what he stands for, but when the truth came out about her initial interest in him, Rachel lost any right she had to continue to be a part of his world and called his girl.
Both Rachel and Malcolm are deeply wounded by her betrayal, and as the weeks of no contact continue, Katy Evans allows readers an insider’s view into the emotional torment Rachel experiences day in and day out. Not being in Saint’s life – the man who owns her body and soul – leaves Rachel depressed, lost, broken, and tortured. She put herself out there, using her words to send Saint a message about her true feelings for him, but he’s shut her out of his life, condemning her to endless hours contemplating her next move. But when trust and loyalty are the number one values of the man she lied to, it’s hard to make amends and prove that her feelings are pure.
Rachel definitely has her work cut out for her in Manwhore +1, which is as it should be. I love that Katy Evans doesn’t rush Rachel and Saint’s reunion. For a man like Saint, Rachel needs to earn back his trust and show him that she won’t betray him again and that’s a tenuous process.
In Manwhore, Rachel was doing her best to strip Saint bare – in more ways than one – and in their follow-up story, she’s the one who has to shed her insecurities and do whatever it takes to be Saint’s girl again.
I absolutely loved how Katy Evans wrote Manwhore +1. There’s a lot at stake for both Saint and Rachel in a number of areas in their lives, and with Rachel’s words and Saint’s actions, it allows them a real chance at making their passionate relationship permanent.
Rachel and Saint’s story continues to be an emotional and lust filled journey that showcases Katy Evans’ writing prowess and her ability to create characters that readers just can’t get enough of because they’re written in such a way that we wish they were real!
