These Royals will ruin you…

From wharf fights and school brawls to crumbling lives inside glittery mansions, one guy tries to save himself.

Reed Royal has it all―looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.

What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely―keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.

Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.

She might be right.

Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

Review

United the Royals Stand…Divided the Royals Fall…

And, at the end of Paper Princess, the Royal boys are no longer fighting together; they’re actually fighting amongst themselves, losing control of their lives and their school and sending everyone around them into a downward spiral.

The title of book two applies to each of the Royal siblings. They are all fighting demons and seem to leave a path of destruction along the way. Their brokenness not only stems from their own choices, but it also is created from the chaos of their lives due to the failure of their parents and what others know and use against them. Gideon, Easton, and the twins all cope in their own ways to ease their conscience and endure the drama, but the one who seems the most broken…the most destructive is the one who would do anything to set things right and bring Ella home.

At the beginning of Broken Prince, everyone is against Reed Royal – his brothers want nothing to do with him; he no longer runs Astor Park Prep, and the one person who saw beneath his arrogant facade refuses to hear him out after his betrayal. But Reed refuses to give Ella up, and so for much of the book, he’s doing everything in his power to prove himself to her…to get Ella to see Reed as a redeemed man all because of his connection to her and their shared losses and struggles.

Ella becomes even stronger in Broken Prince. She’s toughened up her backbone and stopped caring about those around her who see her as nothing but a “trashy interloper.” Ella seems to find herself a bit more in book 2 and not only fights her own battles, but she also fights for those who can’t do it themselves. There’s still work to be done when it comes to who Ella wants to be, but she makes great strides in this story, and I have a feeling she will own who she is and go after what she wants in Twisted Palace.

Broken Prince is a superb follow-up to Paper Princess; it’s the story where Reed Royal and Ella Archer show themselves, each other, and the students at Astor Park Prep what they’re made of…it’s where Reed finds a bit of redemption through Ella and Ella finds her inner Avenger and fights back against those who look to knock her down by their words and their actions.

Book 2 in the Royals series is masterfully crafted. All of the characters are dynamically portrayed, offering much needed insight into their secrets and fears. There are significant revelations in Broken Prince that readers will have to wait for full disclosure on and although it might ruin them, it definitely will be worth it when they see how it all plays out in book 3.
