REVIEW BLITZ: What I Need by J. Daniels

WINFrom New York Times bestselling author, J. Daniels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE novel.

Riley Tennyson has made a huge mistake.

At least, that’s what she keeps telling herself.

Showing up to her brother’s wedding pissed off and newly single, Riley seeks comfort in solitude and an open bar, until the gorgeous and irresistibly charming CJ Tully makes her a better offer―a wild night with the master of smooth-talking where nothing is off limits.

Riley does what any single woman would do, and a connection is made. One neither one of them can ignore. But when she comes home to the boyfriend she no longer thought she had, Riley buries her secret and begs CJ to do the same.

Forget about each other. It was a mistake. That’s all it was… right?

Desires are hidden. Distance is kept. Until one night CJ makes the ultimate sacrifice, and Riley can no longer avoid the man she can’t stop thinking about.

Not with him sleeping down the hall…

There’s just something about a southern boy…more specifically, any one of J. Daniels’ Bama Boys…they are not only sex on a stick with all of their tatted, muscled goodness, but  the way they use their southern charm to take care of their women in both sweet and dirty ways is swoonworthy and panty melting.

Ben, Luke, Reed, and now CJ know how to please their ladies as well as support, protect, and cherish them and when they claim the one they want, there’s nothing stopping them…they won’t allow anything to get in their way because the kind of love they share with their women is something they’ll never let go of because it fills their lives in ways that they never want to give up.

CJ Tully is one hell of an alpha male and the fact that he never minces words, always meaning what he says and backing up his views with actions, speaks to the kind of guy he is. CJ may be a man’s man and he may be bull headed, but he knows how to treat people right and he does everything in his power to right wrongs and help those in need. And from their first interaction, it’s clear that CJ wants Riley to need him and to want him and he works to prove to her that he should be her choice not just because of how her ex-boyfriend treats her but also because he can give Riley EVERYTHING she needs and then some.

Even though Riley Tennyson may not be as strong of a heroine as I would have liked based on the previous three Bama Girls, that doesn’t mean she doesn’t kickass! She’s sweet, caring, and loyal, and as much as she frustrated with me with her need for secrecy and her decisions when it came to her ex, Richard, it’s clear that she’s a fighter when it comes to the people she loves and her judgments and actions aren’t meant to be malicious; it’s just how she thinks things need to be handled and right or wrong, I can’t fault her for making what she feels is the right choice even if some of them tend to backfire on her.

Because CJ gets put into the friend zone for a chunk of the story, readers are able to see their lustful attraction turn to genuine friendship and then build to a relationship that neither can resist when they get another chance to explore how they feel about each other. This progression is fluidly portrayed and while CJ always wanted Riley from the very beginning, the fact that he allows her to work things out on her own and choose him without pressure, speaks to the type of man CJ is and his realization that pursuing anything romantic with Riley when she’s not ready won’t help his cause at all.

What I Need is another fantastic story in J. Daniels’ Alabama Summer series. All the Bama Boys and Bama Girls are present in CJ and Riley’s story and the camaraderie amongst the guys and the closeness of the girl squad emphasize just how much friendship and loyalty mean to each one of them and how having one another’s back helps them live fuller and happier lives.

I am absolutely a Bama Girl for life, and I’d definitely take a ride on the #tullytrain!
