REVIEW BLITZ: The Wright Boss by K.A. Linde

TWBoss iBooksA new stand alone office romance from USA Today bestselling author K.A. Linde…

I’ve always had one rule:

Don’t mix business and pleasure.

But then Landon Wright comes home to his family’s construction company with a broken back and a beaten heart and ends up as my new sexy boss. As the office gets heated, I’m thinking about throwing the rulebook out the window.

If only there weren’t a million reasons this could never work.

We may have shared a single perfect kiss, but I can’t let our intense connection cloud my judgment. Not with everything I’ve worked for on the line.

Dating your boss is so very, very wrong…even if he feels so Wright.

When K.A. Linde introduced readers to Landon Wright and his bitchy wife, Miranda, in Jensen and Emery’s book, it was easy to see that the unhappy couple didn’t belong together, which made me wonder how a Wright brother could make such a colossal mistake and continue to pay for it years later. Landon clearly picked the wrong woman to stand by his side, so when he continues to do his devil wife’s bidding, offering her chance upon chance to make things work between them, I truly questioned his sanity and then hoped that Linde would offer me the insights I needed in order to understand the complexities of Landon’s relationship with Miranda and the reasons he stayed for so long in a marriage that he clearly didn’t want to be a part of for some time now.

It’s quite the tangled web that the Wright brothers have weaved in the first two books of the series because lines are crossed and guy and girl codes are broken when Landon’s ex-girlfriend, Emery, ends up falling for his older brother, Jensen, and Landon can’t help but be drawn to Emery’s charismatic best friend, Heidi, even if it seems a bit untoward, especially since Landon is not only Heidi’s best friend’s ex, he also ends up being Heidi’s boss when things finally come to a head between Landon and Miranda, and Landon realizes who exactly Miranda is and the depths of her manipulation and betrayal.

This untapped connection that Landon and Heidi have felt for some time is exactly what prompts Heidi to risk everything she always said she wouldn’t, and it’s also the reason that Landon finally follows through with his plans to divorce Miranda. In a sticky situation like this one, though, it’s easy for things to fall apart and for fears and doubts to overshadow the electricity between two people who, at this time, really shouldn’t be pursuing one another for a bevy of reasons. But the heart wants what the heart wants and despite the warnings, the potential fallout, and an interfering ex, Heidi and Landon put everything on the line to be together, finally acting on the feelings they’ve been harboring for one another for quite some time, breaking Heidi’s rules in deliciously sinful ways and perhaps waiting for the consequences of their actions because no secrets ever stay hidden and crossing lines always have repercussions.

Landon and Heidi’s story is one consumed with dramatic, frustrating, steamy, and pivotal moments that show who Landon and Heidi truly are and what they mean to themselves as well as to each other. Despite the obstacles in Landon and Heidi’s way, K.A. Linde makes it clear just how deep the couple’s feelings go, which explains why the gains outweigh the risks, even if the end result doesn’t work in their favor. Landon’s siblings and Heidi’s best friend can offer an exhaustive amount of advice and warnings, but only they can decide how far they’re willing to go to have the futures they want, which undoubtedly include one another.

Once again, K.A. Linde crafts an emotional and sexy story that illustrates the main characters’ connection through their thoughts, words, and actions, and I have to admit that I wanted Heidi to do bodily harm to Miranda because if there’s one bitch who deserves a smack down, it’s definitely Landon’s psychotic ex!
