The anticipated conclusion of the Logan & Kayla saga in the Checkmate Duet Series from duo of romance authors under the USA Today bestselling author pseudonym, Kennedy Fox!

This second-chance romance will have you gasping and cheering this two on from the first to the last page! Are you ready to play the final game?

Kayla Sinclair is a saint and real life Angel.
She wears her heart on her sleeve and inspires me to be a better person.
Rescuing dogs, feeding the homeless, volunteering at the local food pantry are just a few of the ways she gives back to others, although no one has ever been there for her.
Falling for her was inevitable, losing her will destroy me.

Letting someone in didn’t come easy, but she made me want to try for the first time in years.
Her bubbling personality and kind spirit make it impossible to forget a girl like her.
But when tragedy strikes and she loses all memory that our relationship ever existed, my worst nightmare comes to life.

I’ll do anything to remind her of the love we shared. I know it’ll be an uphill battle, but I won’t walk away without a fight. Whoever said all is fair in love and war never played by my rules.

Checkmate, Angel.

*Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.*

**This is book w in the Logan & Kayla Saga–a second-chance romance. Must read This is Dangerous first. However, you don’t need to read any of the other Checkmate duet series to enjoy this one, but it’s recommended as they are both introduced in the earlier books.**

In the second book of Logan and Kayla’s duet, the hero and heroine find their roles reversed, placing Logan as the chaser and Kayla as the chasee and now that Logan is the one pining away for Kayla, loving her from afar, and working to get her to love him back, he understands exactly what Kayla endured before Logan finally let down his walls and allowed her into his heart. And, just like Kayla, Logan finds himself questioning exactly what he’s doing when it comes winning her because he’s stuck between reminding her of what they had and/or creating new memories that will sustain them even if she never remembers.

But This is Beautiful is about so much more than Logan and Kayla’s relationship and if they’ll get their second chance at love because every facet of Kayla’s life has been altered by what happened to her and as she deals with this new version of herself, she traverses through “old” Kayla’s life, finding certain things frustrating and reacting to situations much differently than she would have only months ago and with that new knowledge, she can actually make changes to her life that she probably never would have if things didn’t happen the way that they did, uprooting her present day in overwhelming and perplexing ways.

I really like how Kennedy Fox portrayed Logan throughout the entire book. It’s clear his entire world has been upended and while he feels lost and hopeless, he doesn’t take those feelings out on Kayla; in fact, he does everything he can to let her have her space and take their ‘friendship’ wherever she wants it to go on her own terms and schedule. Logan has every right to react the way that he does…to feel helpless, hopeless, and frustrated, but he focuses on what Kayla needs and in the simplest terms, Logan wants Kayla to be happy, even if it’s without him by her side.

I can’t imagine how Kayla feels about the current state of her life. Her head is a jumbled mess; she doesn’t feel like her old self but she also doesn’t know how to handle who she is now, and that complicates her relationship with Logan. It’s clear there’s a connection between them but she doesn’t know exactly what it is or how to feel about it, and it’s that reason alone that leaves her feeling like she’s treating Logan unfairly taking what she wants but never giving herself completely over to him because she doesn’t know what they truly mean to each other.

With the ending of Checkmate: This is Dangerous, I didn’t quite know what I was in for when I began This is Beautiful, but by the time I was finished with the last book in the Checkmate series and the conclusion of Logan and Kayla’s story, I was able to see just how far people will go for the love of their lives and just how devastating it can be when everything that took time to build falls apart in the blink of an eye due to circumstances out of their control. These three couples in Kennedy Fox’s Checkmate series have endured a multitude of pain and heartbreak, but through it all, they remained steadfast, having faith in their friends, faith in themselves, and faith in a love that just needed a bit more time to fully bloom, unearthing amazing and life changing moments that will sustain their feelings for one another even when life’s ups and downs and twists and turns threaten to undo everything they’ve worked for because when everything is said and done, there’s nothing more powerful that a forever kind of love.
