Title: Heartbreaker

Series: Rascals #3

Author: Katie McCoy

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date: August 20, 2018

Five guys. One bar. And a whole heap of sexy trouble…

Liam Callahan is devastatingly handsome, infuriatingly aloof and… my new boss? Put that at the top of the list of ‘Things I Wish I’d Known (Before I Was Panting in His Arms During a Sizzling Midnight Make-out Session.)’

My bartending gig at Rascals was supposed to be a fresh start for me. Now I’m juggling drink orders AND red-hot sexual tension – but I refuse to let Liam’s smoldering stares throw me off my game…

Until one late night leads to another. And another. Liam has a reputation as Mr Heartbreaker, but he’s revealing a whole new side of himself: funny, playful, and most definitely NSFW. But this rascal has made a rule of never getting in too deep, and despite the real connection between us, something’s holding him back.

Can we find a way to put the past behind us and move on? Or will my new beginning end in heartbreak before it’s even begun?

Find out in the hot new stand-alone romance from Katie McCoy!

 My Review

Two Down. Three to Go. And this time, readers get Mr. Heartbreaker himself, Liam Callahan, the man with a plan, and it’s one that definitely doesn’t include a serious relationship, but his carefully constructed life gets turned upside down when the woman he shared an intense make-out session with ends up as his employee, invading the space that he’s always felt the most controlled and forcing him to figure out if his past will continue to guide his present or if he’ll stop fighting his feelings for Juliet and give in to that loss of control he feels when she’s in the room and in his heart.

It’s always so frustrating to witness the push and pull between the hero and  heroine when they clearly have feelings for each other and share one sizzling connection, but, on the surface, Liam and Juliet are living life in completely opposing ways, which definitely makes things difficult for any two people who desire one another. So while Liam’s behavior, at times, makes me want to shake him a bit, I get why he doesn’t want to make the same mistakes he did in his past and why he uses his head to guide him much more than his heart, especially throughout the first half of the story.

I loved how Juliet embraced her new life, despite the reasons  why everything changed for her. It makes sense that she is now all about living life to its fullest, leaving behind her regimented old life and focusing on experiencing everything she missed out on. She has such an amazing personality and it shines through in her new position at Rascals and it also forces Liam to see Juliet herself, not the woman who doesn’t meet all of his criteria, but the girl who drives him crazy and who dominates his thoughts.

Heartbreaker is another great read in Katie McCoy’s Rascals series and amidst the humorous scenes, steamy encounters, dramatic moments, and feisty characters is a story with a whole lot of heart, which is what romance readers love most about the genre.
