I’m the guy you call when you need to impress your overbearing family, your boss, or your ex. Yeah, I’m a male escort, but not just any escort, I’m the escort. The one with a mile-long waiting list and a pristine reputation that’s very well-deserved.

I’m the guy who’ll make you feel beautiful, desired, and worshipped . . . all for a steep price. I’m hired to make you shine, and I always deliver.

I’ll be whatever you want me to be for one night—except my true self. This is just a job, a role I play to earn a paycheck.

But I’m not the guy who falls for a client. Not once in six years.

And then I meet Elle. Her friend has hired me to escort her to a wedding, but Elle doesn’t know we’re just pretending.

There’s a fire between us I never expected. A connection I haven’t felt in so long. One kiss, and I’m losing all control.

But what will happen when she finds out who I really am?

My Review

I haven’t read a male escort romance story in quite some time, and while they can be hit or miss for me based on the personality of the hero as well as the reasons behind his chosen profession, knowing Kendall Ryan’s writing style and the way she crafts her characters and her story lines, I was confident that Boyfriend For Hire was going to be a sweet, steamy, and feel good read with an abundance of chemistry between the main characters and a few revelations along the way to keep readers and the characters themselves on their toes, and that’s exactly the story Ryan told.

The circumstances that bring Nick and Elle together and the setting in which these two meet don’t seem very conducive for a first date of sorts between a male escort and the person who hired him, but that’s because Elle is not the woman who does the hiring nor does she have any idea what Nick’s profession is, which is definitely going to be a point of contention once these two begin to feel like their pretend relationship just might have a chance to be real and the fallout from Nick being paid to be Elle’s plus-one could end their connection before it ever really has a chance to grow.

Nick is way more than the stereotypical male escort and the fact that he gets to be just Nick with Elle for a whole weekend makes him reevaluate his chosen lifestyle and think about what things would be like if Elle was his real girlfriend instead of his fake one. I really enjoyed getting to know the real Nick, not the persona he has for his clients; he’s funny and easy going, and while he definitely knows how to woo women due to his particular skillset, it’s more than obvious that Elle brings out a side of him that has rarely surfaced since he began as an escort all those years ago.

Elle is my kind of quirky heroine, and the fact that she’s intelligent, genuine, and hilarious makes her everything that Nick never knew he wanted. She’s like a breath of fresh air to Nick because he knows that she’s the real deal and while a lot of that is due to her not knowing he was paid to be her date, most of it is because that’s just who she is, so it’s easy to understand why Nick would be attracted to Elle in a way that he’s never been with another client and it’s also the reason that everything gets significantly more complicated when Nick wants a real shot at a relationship with her.

I always know that when I dive into a Kendall Ryan romance that I’m going to get a great blend of steam, snark, and humor in a fast-paced and well-rounded story and that’s exactly what she gives readers in Boyfriend For Hire.
