About COLDHEARTED BOSS
I’m desperate and destitute when Lockwood Construction rolls into my small town with an offer too good to pass up: high wages to any able-bodied man willing to join their crew.
Say no more. I throw on baggy clothes, tuck my long hair under a baseball hat, and apply for a job. Unfortunately, my half-baked idea of disguising myself as a guy is flawed from the beginning. As Shakira says, these hips don’t lie.
Still, I like to think I might have pulled the whole thing off save for one thing:
I know my boss.
Last month, we met at a bar, and after a fiery first encounter, it seems we’re destined to be sworn enemies.
Ethan Stone is ruthless and arrogant, a man I never would have crossed had I known how much he likes to toy with his prey.
He should just fire me and be done with it. Instead, he decides to make me his personal slave. Oh right, I think they’re calling it personal “assistant” these days.
It’s torture, all of it—his bad attitude, his ruggedly chiseled face, his desire to grind me into dust.
Every one of our friction-filled battles burns hotter than the last.
A girl can only hold out for so long. Soon, I’m bound to go up in flames.
My objective? Survive the heat long enough to send home a paycheck.
My real objective? Stop having X-rated fantasies about my coldhearted boss.

My Review
From their very first encounter, it’s clear that there’s something electric between Ethan Stone and Taylor Larson, but the pretense of their initial interaction and subsequent second meeting tampers his attraction to her with his fury over her actions and what happens after that is one heck of an angsty, push and pull, back and forth, love and hate, lust-filled slow burn romance.
Taylor Larson is an intriguing heroine – one who understands what it means to struggle but to power through…one who suffers but continues to push forward, climbing whatever obstacles she has to, even if the fight brings her to her knees. I admired her tenacity and her refusal to allow anyone to make her feel less than regardless of how low she felt.
Ethan is absolutely a cold-hearted boss, but I can’t say that I blame him, at least at the beginning when he figured out exactly who Taylor was behind her construction worker attire, and while he did go overboard in showing just how much she messed up by attempting to con him, the angst between them, their verbal sparring, and their less than professional antics is the build up to when the characters finally realize what we, as readers, have known the entire time – that these two are determined to not give into each other but belong to one another on every level – their heads just have to catch up with what their hearts already know.
I love the way that R.S. Grey crafts her stories – she’s a humorous and pithy story teller who has definitely honed her romantic comedy skills with each book she’s written. The slow burn of her story lines, the wittiness of her characters, and the seamlessness of her writing is why there’s not a R.S. Grey story that I haven’t enjoyed reading, which is exactly why I always one-click her books.
