Love is crazy.

Peck Ward, the sweet, small-town mechanic, isn’t sure it’s for everyone. Least of all him. His life is chaotic enough without adding the pressure of a relationship. Besides, unrequited love is a real thing and he’s kind of over it.

This works out perfectly until a certain someone throws a wrench—pun intended—into his plans. As they go from adversaries to friends to possibly something more, things get complicated. After all, they know how this story ends. It’s not with them together.

His easy grin is enough to win her over. Her unabashed personality does him in. But are they ready to accept the fact that sometimes you don’t find love where you’re looking for it? Sometimes you find it in the most unexpected, craziest places.

My Review

If you’re a fan of Adriana Locke’s The Gibson Boys series, you know exactly who Peck Ward is and why so many readers have been waiting for his story, and let me tell you, Locke does not disappoint when it comes to Peck and his leading lady.

Ever since Locke introduced Peck to us, he’s been one of my absolute favorites. This man is a total giver of his time and of his heart and that shines through with how much he does for those he loves, especially his Nana. Their relationship was the absolute sweetest and how a man treats those closest to him says a lot about who that man is and what he deserves, and it’s clear that Peck deserves all the happiness and love that the world can offer him. And even though it might have been a different path – one he never thought he would travel – the author does a great job illustrating why the girl she chose for Peck is the best fit for him and why it took awhile to figure everything out and find his soul mate.

I don’t want to say too much about the heroine because I want readers to watch her interactions with Peck and witness the progression of their relationship with open eyes because when everything starts to happen between them, it makes complete sense and it shows exactly why she was his and he was hers before they ever really realized or understood.

Small-town romances are definitely some of my favorite stories; I love how tightly connection the townspeople are and how they look out for each other, even if it is a bit over-the-top at times. The Gibson Boys is a great group of guys who always bring crazy antics and hilarious interactions to each other’s lives as well as those who surround them, which makes reading about them never dull and leaves readers feeling like they’re a part of the family, which is definitely not a bad place to be.
