Is it fate…. Or just the Romeo effect? Discover the hot and hilarious new stand-alone romantic comedy from USA Today bestselling author, Lila Monroe!
Seth Harding is the King of Meet-Cutes. If you get trapped in an elevator with a handsome stranger, or stranded on a moonlit cruise with the man of your dreams, chances are, it’s not fate bringing the two of you together, it’s Seth somewhere, pulling the strings.
At least, that’s what I find out, when someone hires Seth to help win my heart. It would be romantic… if he weren’t all wrong for me. And Mr Right…?
Well, he might just be the guy behind the scenes.
Suddenly, my faith in soulmates is hitting a major complication. Seth is cynical, and argumentative… and seriously irresistible. Soon, the sparks between us are impossible to ignore. But can this hopeful romantic really find love with a man who engineers happily-ever-afters for a living? And when all the tricks and tests are stripped away, what makes two people truly meant to be?
Find out in the latest laugh-out-loud read from “The reigning queen of romantic comedy”, Lila Monroe!
My Review
A love manipulator – A meet-cute king – A matchmaker of epic proportions…these are all monikers for the real-life cupid himself, Seth Harding.
Seth Harding is quite the paradoxical man, and with his contrariness comes a whole litany of issues, not only for himself, but his business, and his current client – a Mr. Right looking for his Mrs. Right. But that love connection doesn’t appear a match made because the woman his client wants, doesn’t want him, and what makes things even more complicated is the fact that the more interactions has with Seth, the more she wonders if destiny played a hand in bringing them together…but what happens when she finds out that Seth orchestrated everything and all of their chance encounters are anything but…and when Seth’s latest client threatens to ruin his perfect record as well as make him go back on his golden rule, the idea of true love, of destined/fated love is thrown out into the cosmos and what comes back may very well ruin his business and break several hearts in the process. .
The manufacturing and manipulating that is involved with Seth’s business is most definitely going against the belief of fate bringing two people together…or is it? The fact that it brings Seth into April’s life may prove his theory, but for the fated romance lover April, anything or anyone that provides a helping hand for love doesn’t seem to be meant to be, and perhaps may even face the repercussions of said orchestration when karma comes calling.
I like to mix a few sweet and light-hearted reads into my reading schedule after several dark ones, so The Romeo Effect was exactly what I needed. I like that Lila Monroe doesn’t adhere to popular/stereotypical conventions of romantic comedies or at least flips them a bit and makes them her own, which absolutely worked in Seth and April’s story.
