I tell myself I can have three days. Three days to stay under my covers, eyes closed, be numb and drown out the world, before I need to make plans. Everything I thought I knew is gone. The pain in my chest roars and pushes against my organs, until I let a silent scream escape. My whole body hurts. It’s unbearable to do nothing, and yet, I have no energy to get up. I don’t want to face my reality. She was just sitting here, smiling and making plans for a future. Their faces are all I see when my eyes close.
