My Review
It’s definitely true that opposites attract because Brigs Ferry Bay ’s Sheriff Jaxson Bell and new B & B owner, Dante Kincaid couldn’t be more different, but their attraction is palpable from their very first encounter, which poses quite the dilemma for the small town lawman, and if Dante has anything to say about it, the good Sheriff’s public image is going to include his biggest secret – the one that truly defines him but the same one he’s never felt free to acknowledge.
I truly don’t think Jax would have been able to live his truth without the man that Dante is pushing him to do so. Jax, understandably, has a considerable amount of baggage to resolve and that process isn’t easy given his family dynamics and how they would view his choices, but Dante refuses to give up on something real happening between them, which means he’ll fight like hell for both of them until Jax chooses himself and what he wants and needs most over what others think his life should be like.
I haven’t read many books by K Webster, but I’ve heard so many amazing things about her writing and storytelling, so when I saw that she was releasing a new M/M read, I knew I needed to fit Sheriff’s Secret into my reading schedule, and I’m so glad I did. I love the small town feel of Brigs Ferry Bay and its inhabitants are quite the intriguing bunch. I also appreciated the author’s approach to both characters’ pasts and what it meant for their present and as difficult as it was to see how Jaxson’s family viewed and treated other people’s personal decisions, in the end, the lessons learned were painful, but necessary.
