After a few choice words, he lets her go with not one ticket, but three.

Next time she should check the attitude at the door and realize that he’s a cop, and just doing his job.

Come get some.

Fast forward a week, and he’s still unable to think about anything else but her and her bad attitude—oh, and those sexy lips, angry eyes, and her promise to make his life hell.

Knowing he should stay away, he takes a step back and tries not to think about anything that has to do with those long legs, and that mouth that could be used for much better things than spewing venom.

Then she makes a mistake.

At an interview, she rattles off a random number to use as a reference for a job that she desperately needs, and that number just happens to be Johnny’s.

She’ll regret being so rude, and one day she’ll think twice when she decides to throw attitude toward a man like him.

Vowing to make her life hell, he decides to have a little fun.

Never get enough.

What he doesn’t expect is to fall for her.

The more Johnny learns about June, the deeper he digs his hole. Soon, he doesn’t know which way is up, and he’s just fine with that.

Over time, he learns that not everyone bothers to dig past her prickly demeanor and get to the woman that lives deeper.

When one too many citizens of Hostel, Texas tries to back her against the wall, he’s had enough.

After all, you don’t mess with what’s his.

About RIDE DIRTY
Caine McKannon is all about rules. As the Raven Riders Sergeant-at-Arms, he prizes loyalty to his brothers and protection of his club. But then he rescues a beautiful woman from an attack.

Kids and school are kindergarten teacher Emma Kerry’s whole life, so she’s stunned to realize she has an enemy—and even more surprised to find a protector in the intimidating man who saved her. Tall, dark, and tattooed, Caine is unlike any man Emma’s ever known, and she’s as uncertain of him as she is attracted. Review

Caine McKannon would never use ‘hero’ as a word to describe the type of man he is, not with his past, not with his self-perception, and not with how other people, besides his fellow MC brothers, react to his anti-social attitude and broody demeanor. Caine feels unworthy and insignificant because when it really mattered, he couldn’t save someone he should have and he wears those scars like armor…as a means to keep people at a distance to protect himself from being unwanted or deemed not enough to care.

But Caine can’t control how other people view him, so when he saves Emma Kerry from a scary situation and then gives her his time and his company, she goes out of her way to thank him…to express her gratitude because what he’s done for her is above and beyond the call of duty, especially for someone who feels alone since she lost the person who raised her, her grandmother, three years ago.

The instant attraction and strong connection Caine feels towards Emma scares the hell out of him, so much so, that he keeps his walls up and does everything in his power to stick to the rules he’s established for himself, but he didn’t count on Emma being so much more than the sweet and innocent Kindergarten teacher that she depicts herself to be, so when Emma takes a chance and shows Caine just how not innocent she can be, Caine has to decide if he’s willing to dirty up his life and go against his entire way of living in order to be with the woman who truly sees him for him and more than enjoys his company and their time together.

I wasn’t too sure what to make of Caine based on his interaction with his Rough Rider brothers in the previous books in the series. What was clear was that he enforced the rules of the club, kept everyone safe, and punished those who crossed the Rough Riders. But beyond that, I really couldn’t get a handle on his personality or why he was the kind of man who stayed at a distance, preferring to keep himself isolated than be a part of a big group.

With Ride Dirty, I was able to understand Caine more and his reasons for standing apart from everyone else. His unhealed wounds from his past make him feel abnormal…make him feel insignificant, which is not true at all, but no one has been able to get Caine to understand and accept that until Emma.

I loved how Emma treated Caine right from the start even though she was a bit scared of him due to the way he portrayed himself, but she quickly saw through the wall he had built and did her best to tear it down piece-by-piece as she accepted him for who he was and went out of her way to show him that she cared for him and desperately wanted him in her life.

Emma and Caine may be opposites when it comes to their personalities, but as the saying goes, opposites definitely do attract, and Laura Kaye makes it known at the beginning of their story that there is something different about how Caine feels about Emma, and while that scares him, he would be crazy not to see what’s there between them and even though he has to be talked into a bit, he finds himself desperate for Emma and the light she provides his darkened life.

I do have to say that I didn’t really understand the antagonist and his role in Caine and Emma’s story; don’t get me wrong, I know that each book in the Rough Riders series comes with danger and even angst, but this time around, I didn’t find it necessary, and it didn’t make sense to me because it didn’t feel flushed out even once it was seemingly resolved.

But regardless of my disinterest of the added conflict, I liked Caine and Emma’s story and I felt like Laura Kaye allowed readers to get to know one of the members of the MC that we wouldn’t ordinarily have, which made his and Emma’s book unique and enjoyable.

Excerpt

“What do I do?” Emma asked.

We,” Caine said as an urgent, demanding possessiveness dug its claws into his soul. Dug them in, deep.

And it was, without question, something he’d never felt before in his whole life. When you felt as unworthy as he did, you rarely believed that you deserved to possess anything at all. But now, in the face of her vulnerability, Caine dared to hope that he might deserve…what? Not her, exactly, because after being viewed as no more than a possession by the couple that ran his group home, the idea of possessing another person made his stomach roll. But maybe the chance to get to know her, at the very least. And maybe even the chance to give her the things he’d always wanted but never been able to have.

Jesus, even daring to hope for such things made him feel like the bottom might fall right out from underneath of him. And when that happened, he’d just fall and fall and fall…

But if she was going to be brave, he sure the fuck would, too. “We’ll figure this out, Emma. Do you hear me? You’re not in this alone.” His voice sounded like it’d been scoured with sandpaper.

She peered up at him, and her bottom lip trembled a little more. “Promise?”

“Jesus, come here,” he rasped, hauling her in against his chest. He held her tight with one arm and stroked her hair back with the other. And Christ, she felt so good there. So warm and soft against all his cold hardness. So right. These thoughts were so foreign to him he hardly knew what to do with them, but that didn’t make them any less true. He had to swallow around a knot of emotion before he could go on, but when he finally did, his voice was rock solid again. “I give you my word, Emma.”

He made one more promise, too, but this one he kept to himself. Once, he’d failed to protect someone he should’ve. Worse than that, her death had been his fault.

Caine vowed to himself—he wouldn’t make the same mistake twice.

This time, he’d rather die first.

Contemporary Romance

They say it happens when you least expect it.

It did for me.

It started the moment I saw the simple message pop up on my computer screen:

Cameron’s Mac: Hi.

And when I met the eyes of the gorgeous man messaging me from across the coffee shop, I never thought my reply would lead to the most intense, sexual, and passionate relationship of my life.

We both agreed to check our bags at the door and put our future hopes and aspirations on the table.

It worked.

I fell in love with his no holds barred attitude, sexy smirk, and undeniably good heart . . . and for a while we forgot about our baggage. We happily tripped over it to get to the other, neither of us willing to show the contents of our pasts in the off chance it could ruin us.

We built our love on a foundation of gray.

It was life in black and white that threatened to tear us apart.

RELEASE BLITZ AND EXCERPT: THE HOOK-UP EXPERIMENT by Emma Hart

1.Hate-screw my high school nemesis.

2.Remember to hate him.

3.Prove my brother wrong.

It should be easy.

It isn’t.

As the owner of Pick-A-Dick, New Orleans’ premier hook-up website, my job is simple. Connect two people for a no-strings, no-expectations hook-up. The plus for my clients is that I’m the one who gets to sift through the dick pics-except this time, they’re required.

My problem? My brother, co-owner of Pick-A-Dick’s sister dating site, doesn’t believe it’s possible to hook up with someone three times and not fall in love.

I disagree. I know it’s possible.

And my disagreement is exactly how I end up reconnected with my high school nemesis, Elliott Sloane. The guy who asked me to junior prom and then stood me up. Who egged my car when I rejected him, and convinced my senior homecoming date to ghost me.

It should be easy to hate-screw him. If only he was still that person, instead of a hot-as-hell single dad, working as a builder to make ends’ meet, fighting for custody of his daughter.

Not to mention packing in the pants department…

Three hook-ups.

One outcome.

Right?

“Is she okay with that juice?” Peyton watched her go.

I selected the Blu-ray from the cupboard and shot a smirk her way. “Sorry to break it to you, but you’re getting a juice box.”

“I can live with that.”

I turned away and hit the eject button on the player. “You didn’t have to say yes to her, you know.”

“Of course, I had to. Have you seen those eyes? How do you say no to her, ever?”

“I think of all the times she screams and swings her arms like a tiny terrorist, and it’s pretty easy.” I put the disk in and turned around.

Peyton had one eyebrow raised. “See, now, I’d think that’s reason to say no.”

“It depends on the day. Sometimes it results in her being put to bed to calm down, which means she ends up taking a rare afternoon nap, and I get some peace and quiet.”

“That’s a thing around her? She was talking to me for thirty minutes flat about what I did and didn’t like.”

“Only thirty minutes? Lucky you. She has about three hours of material of that.” I took a seat on the sofa, making sure to leave space between us for Bri. “Did she get started on hedgehogs yet?”

Peyton looked a little confused. “Hedgehogs?”

“YouTube is the devil.”

“That…was quite the jump in subject.”

I laughed as the main menu music hit on the TV. “I’m going to preface this by saying kids are weird.”

“Some get that from their parents.”

I blinked at her for a second. She wasn’t wrong if half these people who had a mini-career opening fucking toys on YouTube were parents.

“There are a bunch of stupid videos on YouTube, and apparently, watching people open toys is thrilling.”

Now, she looked really confused.

“And on one of those she watched, the person had a pet hedgehog who wasn’t having the nonsense of her opening a Hatchimal on camera, so it stole the egg.”

She blinked several times in quick succession. “I have no idea what you just said, and if I’m honest… Please don’t explain it.”

I laughed and hit play on the TV.

“Here’s your dooce-box,” Briony said, handing Peyton two. “And das mine. I can’t do the straws.”

“Oh. Right. Okay.” Peyton looked at the two juices that had been thrust at her.

Smiling, I took one from her. I pulled the straw off the back, out of the tiny plastic slip, and poked it through the foiled hole in the top. “There you go,” I said to Briony. “What do you want for dinner?”

She put the straw in her mouth and pursed her lips as she sucked the juice up. Peyton watched her, lips twitching, as she put her straw in place.

“Pizza!” Briony announced.

Oh no. I’d eaten too much pizza lately.

Was there such a thing as too much pizza?

Maybe if the toppings were changed up…

“Peydon, do you want pizza?” Bri asked, leaning right into her.

“I like pizza,” she replied, smiling sweetly down at her. “What’s your favorite?”

“I like spots and cheese.”

“Spots?”

I coughed on my water. “Pepperoni,” I explained. “They look like spots on the pizza.”

Peyton’s eyes met mine for a minute. Silent laughter shone back at me. That really was toddler logic at its finest.

“You know,” she said, looking down at Peyton. “Spots are my favorite, too!”

Once again, Briony gasped. “Reawy?”

“Really, really. I love spots.”

Oh, Jesus.

It might have been a mistake introducing these two. Not only was my daughter becoming increasingly obsessed with someone who seemed to be a brunette, adult version of her…

No, that was the problem. Peyton was the brunette, adult version of Briony, attitude and all-and if there was anything my daughter didn’t need, it was someone who could teach her a thing or ten about sarcasm.

“I’ll order pizza,” I said, going to stand.

“Oh, you got it last time. I’ll go call them.” Peyton put her juice on the side table and tried to move, but Briony stopped her.

“No. Mimi told me that only gentlemen buy dinner. Princesses sit and look priddy.”

Peyton looked down at her. “Sit and look pretty? I like to buy my own pizza sometimes, and that’s okay.”

Without missing a beat, Briony said, “Princesses sit and look priddy so the mens buying dinner don’t know dat we can kick dere butts.”

BLOG TOUR REVIEW AND EXCERPT: CONFESSIONS: ROBBIE by Ella Frank

Confessions: Robbie, an all new tantalizing contemporary MMM Romance by Ella Frank is now LIVE!

Robbie-Confessions-PRINT-FOR-WEB copy

Relationships are complex.
Love ever-changing.
And when it comes to rules of the heart,
they were made to be broken…

That’s what Robert Antonio Bianchi was telling himself, anyway.
Otherwise, he really had no excuse for what—or who—he’d done.

No excuse, except for his lonely heart, a pitcher of margaritas, four Bitter Bitches, and the apparent need to confess all his weaknesses to the two men he knew would bring him nothing but trouble.

But trouble was nothing new.

Just ask his crazy sisters or any of his friends, and they’d be the first to tell you:
If there was a bad decision to be made, Robbie always had a knack for making it.

And thus begins the story of the priest, the princess, and the prick.

Review

The dynamics of an MMM relationship confounds my reasoning…I mean, sure, there are a plethora of opportunities to be touched, licked, fucked, and played with, but there’s also a whole lot of male testosterone, dominate personalities, and overwhelming sensations and feelings to try to commandeer through, which seems too daunting

But if there is one man who can handle two domineering alpha males with his smart mouth, sexual wiles, and flirty ways, it’s definitely Robert Antonio Bianchi or as avid readers of the Temptation series know him as – Robbie – the guy who has lusted and panted after Logan, even after Logan got together with Tate, and what I love most about Robbie’s interaction with Logan and Tate is that they now work together and call one another friends, even when Robbie winds up Tate about his undying lust for Tate’s husband!

Even though Robbie, Priest, and Julien’s story is told in third person, allowing all three of their perspectives to be heard, the idea that that the first book in their story is titled Confessions: Robbie makes perfect sense. Priest and Julien have already invited other men into their bed, albeit in the one-night stand variety only, but they know what they want and how they want it, and now they seem to know what they want it to be with for more than one night and that person is Robbie. But, it’s Robbie who’s taking the first leap…it’s him who has to decide if he can give his body and quite possibly his heart, because let’s be honest, that organ overwhelms him on a good day with desires and emotions, to two domineering men who already have an established, devoted relationship because they are married.

By the time I reached the end of Robbie’s book, I was left with a ton of questions about all three of these intriguing men, and while some answers are easily provided, the entirety of baggage they all respectively carry still needs to be elaborated on, especially when it comes to what Priest is dealing with when the one person who can give Priest what he needs when it comes to the maelstrom that’s brewing in his head and his soul knocks on Priest and Julien’s door – their princess!

I love the fact that Ella Frank keeps readers in her Temptation series’ setting. Logan’s law firm, Tate’s bar, and the ambiance of the city have already captivated readers with what occurs in those locations and they’re more than able to dazzle new readers to Frank’s world. And while the Confessions series is a spin-off of the Temptation series, fans of Logan and Tate will still get their fix, and in the case of Robbie’s Confession, they’ll get one overprotective Papa Bear in Logan when it comes to what he assumes is happening between Priest, Julien, and Robbie, and let’s just say that Logan is more than willing to beat the shit out of anyone who tramples on Robbie’s heart, even if he, unknowingly, did it himself.

The first book in Robbie, Priest, and Julien’s series was everything I thought it would be and more. These three men have a shitload of chemistry and they complement one another’s temperaments in all the best ways, and while sometimes I wondered how Robbie could deal with all the broodiness from his two dominant men, it didn’t surprise when he set them straight with everything that Robbie is, which is exactly why Priest and Julien felt Robbie would be the perfect fit for what they’ve always wanted in their relationship.

There’s still a lot that needs to be worked out when it comes to this threesome and I don’t just mean sexually; there’s a lot on the line in a relationship of this kind, especially when that includes a bonafide princess and everything that entails. Because while it’s not a question if these three men are compatible behind closed doors, it’s what happens when those doors are blown open that matters most, and readers have yet to truly get a handle on what that means for the priest, the princess, and the prick.

But, I’ll confess, I can’t wait to find out!

CHAPTER ONE

CONFESSION

If there’s a bad decision to make, I will make it.

DRUNK-DIALING IS never a smart move. But drunk-dialing a married man? That is a monumentally stupid move.

That was the thought rolling around Robbie’s muddled brain as he stood with his best friend Elliot at the bar of CRUSH and tossed back his fourth Bitter Bitch. The conversation he was having with himself wasn’t a new one—or a welcome one, he thought as he swayed on his feet and kind of stumbled into the stool beside him. But forgetting his lonely life with alcohol and men who were all wrong for him seemed like an increasingly good way to cope tonight.

The hum and throb of the bass beat was rattling through him, but instead of feeling the pull he usually did to head out to the dance floor and have fun, tonight it seemed to be having the opposite effect. It was making him think really stupid thoughts.

“You’re so wasted, Bianchi,” Elliot said as he grabbed Robbie’s arm and guided him to the barstool. “What’s that? Your third shot? And how many margaritas did you have at dinner?”

Robbie held up two, then three fingers, and shrugged. “Who cares? Everyone had their New Year’s on Sunday. Tonight’s mine, and I want to celebrate.”

“If you celebrate any more, you aren’t gonna remember your first night out of the New Year.”

“Don’t care,” Robbie said, as he waved his hand through the air with flourish and leaned a little too much into the action. Luckily, Elliot was there to prop him up. “I wanna have fun tonight. Do something I shouldn’t.”

Elliot leaned his elbows back on the bar so he was facing the dance floor and said, “Why don’t you get out there and let someone do you instead? You look gorgeous tonight, darling.”

He’s right, I do look cute, Robbie thought.

In his skinny jeans and purple V-neck tee that was practically a second skin, Robbie had gone all out with smoky eyes and a new pink shade of gloss he’d bought a couple of days ago that tasted like—mmm, strawberries. He could totally hit the dance floor, find a willing man, and let him do all kinds of things. But that seemed so boring tonight, so normal, and so not what he wanted.

He wanted wild. He wanted adventure. He wanted danger. And when the two men he knew were both those things entered his mind, Robbie quickly shook his head, trying to shake them free.

Stop thinking about them, he ordered himself, but that was easier said than done. One of them was one of the sexiest men he’d ever seen, and the other the most frustrating—and what was worse was that he couldn’t have either of them even if he wanted to. What was with everyone being fucking married all of a sudden? And to each other?

But oh the dreams he’d been having lately. The three of them, all sweaty and naked; they were enough to make him want to

No, no, no. That is the worst idea you could have, Robbie told himself. Drunk or sober.

Worst.

Idea.

Ever.

Plus, you don’t even like one of them. So stop obsessing over it.

“Earth to Robbie…” Elliot said, waving a hand, and Robbie shrugged.

“I don’t know. I’m just not in the mood.”

You’re not in the mood to grind all over a naked man? Okay, where the hell is my best friend and what did you do with him?” Elliot asked as he swept his black bangs out of his eyes.

“I don’t know.” Robbie slumped forward on the bar, dramatic as ever, and looked up at Elliot from under his lashes. “I think I’m in a state of mourning, El, and I don’t know how to get out of it.”

Elliot frowned. “Is this about Logan? I thought you were happy for him and Tate?”

“I am, but— Ugh. They just got engaged, and now all of a sudden, he’s married. Married.”

“I know, babe. But you knew it was coming.”

“Doesn’t make it any easier. Knowing there are two more beautiful men off the market forever due to a ring and a piece of paper is just depressing.”

“Two more men?” Elliot said, regarding him with a suspicious eye. “Who else do you know who’s hitched?”

Julien, Robbie instantly thought, as an image of the famous chef came to mind.

Julien “the Prick” Thornton. And this time, as Julien’s name ran through Robbie’s head, he made a point to roll the Jul over his tongue the way Julien had when he’d introduced himself that night at the bar. That’s right…Julien “I’m gay, gorgeous, and, oh yeah, married to your worst enemy” Thornton. He was hitched.

“No one,” Robbie said, and pouted. Then he swiveled on the stool to look out at the men gyrating all over one another. “You go and play for the both of us. I’m going to sit here and—”

“Ferment?”

“Okay that word is too big for my brain right now,” Robbie said, and winced. “Go and feel up the muscles and men for me. Someone should get some enjoyment out of them.”

Elliot pursed his lips. “I don’t know…”

“I’m just gonna sit here. Not going anywhere,” Robbie promised, crossing a finger over his chest.

“Your heart is on the other side, genius.”

Robbie switched sides and did it again. “I’m just gonna drown my sorrows so my body hurts tomorrow and will take my mind off my broken heart.”

“Aww, cheer up, Buttercup. Your Prince Charming will come to you one day soon.”

“Well, until then”—Robbie gestured for the bartender—“I’m going to drink myself into a deep slumber in the hopes that maybe he’ll come on me, or, you know, at least kiss me back to life.”

Elliot placed a hand on Robbie’s arm. “Do not go anywhere. I’ll be back for you.”

“I can’t feel my legs to move, so… I’ll stay. Like a good little boy.”

“Don’t know how good you are, but…” Elliot chuckled, then before he headed out to the dance floor, said, “Where’s your phone?”

Robbie dug into his pants pocket and pulled it free.

Elliot opened the contacts and scrolled down to his name, and then set it on the bar in front of Robbie. “You need me, call. Do not leave this seat.”

Robbie touched his fingertips to his temple in a sloppy salute and then hiccupped. “Yes, sir.”

“Okay. Be back for you soon.” Elliot then turned to the bartender and said, “No more after this for him.”

When the bartender nodded, Robbie’s mouth fell open. “Hello, you’re not my mother.”

“Lucky for you. She’d be spanking your ass right now, not to mention your sisters, and I’m sure you’d much rather have that done by a man who would then pound it afterward. I’ll be back.”

Robbie dismissed Elliot with a wave of his hand, and then took great interest in scrolling up and down his list of contacts, searching for someone to occupy his time. It wasn’t until he saw Julien’s number that he realized how drunk he was, because that was the only excuse he could think of as to why he hit call.

Well that, and: If there’s a bad decision to make, I will make it.

RELEASE BLITZ: HERO by LAUREN ROWE

Hero, an all-new sexy and emotional standalone romance by Lauren Rowe is Available NOW!

A standalone contemporary romance in the MORGAN BROTHERS SERIES from USA Today Bestselling Author Lauren Rowe.

The story of firefighter Colby Morgan that proves heroes come in many forms . .

The first time I laid eyes on Lydia Decker, I couldn’t speak. Or breathe. Or string two coherent thoughts together.

And I don’t mean any of that figuratively.

I’m not talking about a guy being floored by the sight of a gorgeous woman-although, of course, Lydia is gorgeous beyond words.

No, when I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker-my physical therapist-I was lying flat on my back in the ICU, high as a kite on painkillers, breathing on a ventilator, my bones as broken and splintered as my spirit.

When I first laid eyes on Lydia Decker, she was a ray of light in the dark. Hope for the hopeless. A salve for my singed and battered soul.

She said she’d been assigned to fix me. That she was there to bring me back to life. She said helping me was her calling.

And then she touched me. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. She healed me.

And I fell in love.

But what I didn’t know . . . what I couldn’t possibly know . . . was that Lydia Decker needed fixing far more than I ever did.

Review

I can honestly say that I wasn’t prepared for Colby and Lydia’s emotional story…I wasn’t ready for Lydia’s heartache and grief to resonate from the pages as her back story was told…I couldn’t have anticipated how caught up I would get in Lauren Rowe’s emotionally charged words and always evolving characters.

But even though Rowe stripped me bare, leaving me raw and aching, almost as much as she did her hero and heroine, I wouldn’t have missed Colby and Lydia’s journey because not only is it an incredibly moving and pure romance, it’s also a cleansing of the soul and a healing of the entire body, physically, emotionally and spiritually.

At the start of Hero, I wasn’t too sure if Colby’s ‘insta’ feelings for Lydia would interfere with the story that was brewing underneath; most of the time when things happen too quickly in a romance, it seems like the couple’s story stays too much on the surface, never truly building a sturdy foundation, but that wasn’t the case with Colby and Lydia.  I think Colby needed to be enamored from the start because it would take those kinds of feelings to help weather the storm as Lydia works through her overwhelming feelings of loss…of regret…of a plethora of feelings that seem to hold her back from moving forward…from being happy.

It appeared that the romance between Colby and Lydia would be hot and heavy from the start, but that’s not the case and that speaks to the kind of gentleman Colby is…don’t get me wrong, Colby definitely wanted every part of Lydia and I’m sure he had a bit of blue balls and sexual frustration because his body desired Lydia desperately, but he recognized the battle that Lydia was trying to overcome and he cheered her on…offered a shoulder to lean on…and made sure she understood his motives and his need to help make her whole before moving forward together.

I can honestly say I wouldn’t mind being adopted by the Morgan family…who wouldn’t want to claim the Morgan brothers and their siblings?! They’re incredibly supportive of one another…have faith in their bond, and they definitely know how to have fun and live life fully.

Lydia is both a strong and vulnerable heroine – one who has been trying to just make it through the days and not break down in tears or feel like a complete failure. Her heart is damaged and it even might be scarred in irreparable ways, but that doesn’t stop Colby from staking his claim…from proving to Lydia that life goes on even after an extraordinary loss. But Colby’s words and actions can only take Lydia so far. She has to be the one who does the leg work…the one who must accept the past and move forward knowing that the past will never be forgotten but it doesn’t have to debilitate her from finding love and happiness again because she so deserves it.

Colby is absolutely a hero…not only as a firefighter but as a man. His job is dangerous and sometimes the flames get a little too close and lives are forever changed, and while Colby learned this knowledge firsthand, he also learned the preciousness of life and the desire to spend his days with someone who means everything to him.

Hero is without a doubt an epic love story, but it’s not simply the love between a man and a woman. It’s the love of a profession…the love of a family…the love of a mother and her children…the love of friendships and second chances. And it’s the knowledge that anyone is capable of being a hero because it doesn’t take grandiose actions…all it takes is the strength and the determination to live life to its fullest and hold on tightly when the ride gets turbulent because those who rise out of the ashes…those who make it to the other side…those are the people who are heroic and that’s one lesson that every reader needs to learn and accept.

JACOB’S LADDER: ELI by Katie Ashley

Blurb

One wouldn’t expect a sexy-as-sin rocker like Eli Renard to spend time with a woman just as a friend, but that’s exactly what Emersyn Wallace is to him. Just a friend. Even though she’s matured into a beauty, Eli still doesn’t remotely see his childhood pal as a sex-object. When tragedy brings her back into his world, Eli moves mountains to help Emersyn get back onto her feet by finding her a job as a backup singer for Jacob’s Ladder. At first, Eli is thrilled that Emerysn is along on tour, and he sets out to do his best to help her forget her sorrow through a range of crazy friend dates. But after spending so much time with her in such close quarters, Eli finds his feelings beginning to shift. He no longer sees Emersyn as the once awkward young girl he played some of his first songs with. Soon it’s not only his body that reacts to her, but it’s also his heart. He’s about to learn what a dangerous game it is to dry a widow’s tears.

After losing her husband and singing partner in a tragic accident, Emersyn Wallace spent the last eight months drowning in a sea of grief. With the bills piling up and her family and friends concerned about her emotional welfare, she reluctantly agrees to join the Jacob’s Ladder’s tour. While recapturing her lost love of singing and performing, she finds both comfort and healing in Eli’s gregarious personality and outrageous sense of humor. But as the anniversary of her husband’s death approaches, she finds herself in turmoil over her new amorous feelings for Eli.

I’ll tell you what you do.

You lie.”

REN

Ren was eight when he learned that love doesn’t exist-that the one person who was supposed to adore him only cared how much he was worth.

His mother sold him and for two years, he lived in terror.

But then…he ran.

He thought he’d run on his own. Turned out, he took something of theirs by accident and it became the one thing he never wanted and the only thing he ever needed.

DELLA

I was young when I fell in love with him, when he switched from my world to my everything.

My parents bought him for cheap labour, just like they had with many other kids, and he had the scars to prove it.

At the start, he hated me, and I could understand why.

For years he was my worst enemy, fiercest protector, and dearest friend.

The only problem was, he loved me in an entirely different way to the way I loved him.

And slowly, my secret drove us apart.

Title: Making Sense

Author: Lila Rose

Genre: Romance

About Making Sense

Adalyn Sage.

I’m thirty-seven, a mother, a divorcee, and I’m ready to date again.

I need a man willing to love me for who I am, despite what size I am. Only finding such a guy is harder than it’s cracked up to be. Afterall, I’m a little clumsy and just a tad outspoken… that is unless I’m in front of a man so good-looking my panties melt. Then I become an absolute weirdo.

Case in point: Vice Salvatore. Stunning. Growly. And also my boss.

Thank God his a**hole attitude put my racing heart at ease and changed my lust to hate.

Nope. I don’t care for him. Won’t. I’ll continue to ignore my ladybits and stay strong.

At least for a while.

Review

Based on Adalyn Sage and Vice Salvatore’s first interaction and his opinion on what he finds ‘lacking’ with Adalyn, I had no idea how Lila Rose would get me to like the broody jackass. Like Adalyn, I was confused by Vice’s hot and cold treatment of her, and how that equated into Vice having feelings for Adalyn since readers’ first impression of Vice wasn’t one that seemed to direct readers to that realization or to the fact that he was likable in the least.

I’m glad that Rose provided readers with insight into Vice’s true feelings and the fact that readers get his perspective at pivotal times helps to not want to throat punch him, but I’ll admit…it took me a bit to get past his initial treatment; I needed Vice to prove himself, and eventually, I grew to appreciate what he did for not only Adalyn but her 9 year old son, Drew, as well.

I adored Adalyn from the start. For a 37 year old divorcee, I love that she feels comfortable in her own skin, and while her ex’s behavior could have broke her in a number of ways, especially his cheating and his comments about her weight, she fights through the pain and focuses on her son and herself, which illustrates just how strong of a woman she is.

Adalyn is a heroine who a lot of readers will relate to, but I do have to say, that some might find her a bit annoying due to the way she reacts like a befuddled girl around good looking men. But to me, Adalyn is adorable in her awkwardness…in her flustered inner monologues…in her moments of muttering and rambling. Adalyn is also a great mom and person who genuinely cares for people and she deserves every happiness in life, and for some reason, even with Vice’s initial mistreatment, he becomes what she wants and Vice takes the steps to prove the man he truly is and what he truly wants with Adalyn.

Making Sense is a funny and sweet story with a bit of steam once Adalyn and Vice get on the same page. Adalyn is a realistic heroine whose humorous idiosyncrasies and the laugh out loud situations she finds herself in makes for entertaining scenes  and because there really isn’t any external drama, readers can focus on Adalyn finally finding a man who loves her for who she is, which is what every woman deserves!
