REVIEW BLITZ: WE OWN TONIGHT by Corinne Michaels

From New York Times, USA Today, and Wall Street Journal Bestselling author Corinne Michaels, comes a sexy new STANDALONE romance novel.

WE OWN TONIGHT is available now!

I’m not a one-night stand kind of woman. I’m especially not the woman who has a few drinks at a concert and ends up in bed with my childhood celebrity crush, Eli Walsh.

However, that’s exactly where I find myself.

What’s a girl to do after a drunken mistake? Run. I grab my clothes and get away from the powerful, irresistible, and best-sex-of-my-life superstar as fast as I can. His gorgeous green eyes, rock-hard body, and cocky smile have no place in my world. My life is complicated enough.

Someone forgot to tell him that.

Eli is relentless. Pushing his way into my heart, wearing me down, proving he’s nothing like I assumed, and everything I need. But when my world shatters to pieces, he holds the broken bits together. Unwillingly, I fall desperately in love with him.

He made me think we’d have forever . . . I should’ve listened when he said we could only own tonight.

Review

The idea of one night of fun for a woman like Heather Covey, especially a night with a famous boy band frontman, is not something she would ever think would happen to someone like her, but when it does, she finds herself running scared, afraid to face her feelings for the man she’s had a celebrity crush on for many years, because everyone she loves leaves her and she’s convinced there’s nothing she can do to prevent it from happening again because a girl like her, one who has dealt with more loss and pain than most people, doesn’t know how to have hope that it won’t all end in devastation.

The way Corinne Michael’s constructs Heather’s characters will make it obvious to readers why Heather’s afraid to give her heart to Eli…why she guards her emotions with an impenetrable wall and doesn’t take risks that she knows will only hurt her. As a police officer, she made a vow to serve and protect, but she hasn’t been able to protect those she loves and her inability to do so has forced her to stop truly living for herself because her burdens are too difficult to endure anything else.

But, perhaps, with a little bit of persistence on Eli’s part and a lot of unsolicited advice from Heather’s closest friends, she’ll see that sometimes risks are worth taking, even when the outcome could potentially lead to heartache.

Eli Walsh is quite the interesting characters. Throughout his adult life, he hasn’t really had to work for anything, especially when it comes to the opposite sex, but when Heather flees his bed and turns him down, for some reason, he finds himself chasing a woman – something he’s never done before but something he’ll see through until he understands why he has the impulse to do so in the first place. Michaels makes it clear, pretty early in the story, that Eli’s hiding something that could make or break his budding friendship/relationship with Heather, Eli doesn’t stop going after Heather, proving to her exactly how he feels and working his way through her walls and making her live for herself, even when she doesn’t want or know how to, especially when more devastation threatens to submerge her into oblivion.

As a reader of Corinne Michaels’ many angsty reads, I always head into one of her stories with a bit of trepidation and a keen awareness that my heart is going to be put through the ringer, breaking off small pieces along the way as her characters experience the heartbreak that always seems to surround them. But what I’ve also learned is that regardless of how defeated her characters feel…regardless of the secrets they seem to be hiding that will unequivocally alter their relationships, weathering the storm will take them someplace better; it will provide them with a true sense of how strong they are because every time life and its many complications force them to fight with everything they are, they do it, knowing that they’ll never possibly be the people they once were.

Those exact feelings consumed me through We Own Tonight, and as one night turned into another and then another and the writing was on the wall that Heather and Eli’s lives were about to be shaken up, I held on with both hands, anticipating the moment where Michaels would bring me and her characters through the chaos finding us a little bit of light in the darkness until it could be made to shine bright again.

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW: Pitch Please by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Pitch Please

Series: There’s No Crying in Baseball #1

Author: Lani Lynn Vale

Genre: Sports Romance

Release: September 8, 2017

Goodreads:  https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/35402234-pitch-please

Baseball is life, the rest is just details.

Everyone who’s played the game has heard those words a time or two. But Hancock has heard them his entire life from his parents. His family has lived and breathed baseball even before he started little league.

Hancock “Parts” Peters has a name that inspires grins across many faces, but the moment those faces get their first look at him, those grins slide away.

Hancock is gruff, filterless, and doesn’t give a crap who he offends.  He is the only man in baseball who doesn’t care if he gets an endorsement or not. He’s there to play the game. He’s there to win. He’s there because baseball is his life.

People think he’s a jerk.

And maybe he is. But if that’s how he has to come off to get people to leave him the hell alone so he can play in peace, so be it. The less people he has to worry about offending, the better.

***

Don’t let the fear of striking out hold you back.

Sway Coffman didn’t mean to rock the boat.  She was just there to do her job.

Sure, she was a woman in a man’s world. Yes, she beat out several of those men to get the job as head athletic trainer for the professional baseball team, The Texas Lumberjacks.  And yeah, she now got hate mail from those men.

But she’s good at her job, and she earned the position.

What she is not good at, however, is talking to men.

Men seem to see her curvy hips, large breasts and thick thighs and automatically think she is incompetent.  Because surely a fat girl couldn’t get the job treating some of the most fit and athletic men in the world, right?

Wrong.

This fat girl got the job, and she is proud of it.

What else did she get?

The attention of the sexiest bearded man she’d ever had the pleasure of laying eyes on.

It was enough to bring to her down to her knees…in front of that man, the hot and grumpy baseball player, Hancock Peters.

I adore sports romance stories, and I’m a huge Lani Lynn Vale fan, so those two things combined is definitely a must read for me. And Vale’s first book in her There’s No Crying in Baseball series, Pitch Please, is exactly the kind of story I’ve come to expect from this author; the story has an amazing hero and heroine who fit each other perfectly, secondary characters who are just as intriguing as the main ones, and the perfect combination of sweet and steamy scenes with several bonus scenes of America’s greatest pastime, focusing on the dynamic play of one heck of a catcher and the baseball superstitions that always seem to guide each and every player looking to bring a little bit of luck on their side.

Sway Coffman is definitely one of my favorite Vale heroines. Despite society’s view of her body type, she’s confident in who she is, embracing her flaws and owning the woman she’s become, not allowing other people’s words to bring her down and feeling comfortable enough with Hancock to give him all of her. This speaks volumes about both Sway and Hancock because it proves the type of people they are and why they’re perfect for each other.

Hancock ‘Parts’ Peters is a veteran in the league and has made a name for himself not only due to his skills but also due to his hotheadedness and brutal honesty. No one makes him do or say anything that he doesn’t want to and people stay out of his way because he’s both respected and feared for his domination on the field and his tell it like it is personality. I ADORED how Hancock’s body reacts to Sway and his internal musings about just how much he likes her curves, her humor, and her sweetness. There was never a point in the story where I didn’t see Hancock in a positive light and that doesn’t happen that often in romance stories because their flaws usually cause issues at some point and that’s just not the case with him.

The fact that Sway has a Fat Head of Hancock on her bedroom wall along with his career stats only makes their connection that much better because it illustrates just how much she adored him as a player, which only amplifies her feelings once Sway gets to know him for the amazing man he is.

Lani Lynn Vale has started her new series with a great read, making me excited for what’s to come with her Texas Lumberjacks and the women who give them an even better life off the field rather than on it.

RELEASE BLITZ: SUGAR by Mandi Beck

Title: Sugar
Author: Mandi Beck
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 7, 2017
Blurb

Country’s hottest bad boy.

That’s what they call me. My label ate it up until I became “too bad” for the good folks of country music. That’s when Hard Candy Records picked me up and took a chance on me. Probably not their smartest move, but I won’t tell them that. Especially when they’ve assigned me a babysitter to try and keep my ass out of trouble. One smart-mouthed, unimpressed, sexy as homegrown sin, Addy Mae Masterson.

She likes to pretend that she doesn’t like me and I like to let her.

I may have a past that haunts me and she may have a habit of getting attached, but damn if I don’t want to show her just how good this bad boy can be.

Free in Kindle Unlimited

Review

It’s easy to see why Addy Mae Masterson can’t help but get attached to Beau McCrae because underneath his bad boy exterior is a man who’s struggling to find his way apart from a complicated past and a present that he just can’t help but mess up with one too many drinks…one too many women…one too many bad decisions. But when Addy’s assigned as his babysitter and she refuses to accept his bullshit and his cocky attitude, Beau realizes that he’s the man he wants to be when he’s with Addy and as long as she’s willing to put up with him and give him room to make a few misjudgments, he just might find the one sugary sweet woman who makes him want to be more than the media has portrayed him to be and more than the troubled man who he’s convinced himself he is.

It’s never a good idea to mix business with pleasure, but as Mandi Beck builds on Beau and Addy’s sexual attraction, bringing them together for more than just business meetings, it’s not a matter of if but when they’ll finally give into the sizzling chemistry between them, not only running the risk of Addy getting her heart broken but also making it difficult for one of Hard Candy Music’s newest clients to step out of line because hurting Addy means hurting her friends and since they’re the ones responsible for Beau’s career, he best make sure he doesn’t piss any of them off, which is easier said than done with Beau’s track record and the way he lashes out when he’s scared and distracted.

Mandi Beck has created one intelligent, beautiful, and truly capable heroine, but even though Addy’s a ball buster, she also have a softer, more sensitive side and that’s the one she fears when it comes to her attraction to Beau. It’s easy to understand why Addy gets attached to people; she loves with all that she is and when she’s invested…it’s pretty much all or nothing and while that can definitely be a detriment when it comes to the men in her life; her hardcore feelings show how truly special she is.

Despite the mess that Addy and Beau create for themselves by crossing a line they probably shouldn’t have, in the big picture, it’s probably what allows Beau to admit some difficult truths about his past and it’s also what helps Beau to realize what made him the bad boy of country music and then take the steps to change his ways not only for the potential woman in his life but for himself too!

I’d gladly do the watermelon crawl and go to ‘church’ with Beau McCrae because with his lyrical voice, sinfully hot body, and his bad boy ways, there’s no telling what trouble he’ll stir up and if it’s of the naked variety then I’m definitely in.

4 Poison Apples
Author Bio

Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer.

A wife, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband and boys in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met.

RELEASE REVIEW AND EXCERPT: LUCKY NUMBER ELEVEN by Adriana Locke

Title: Lucky Number Eleven
Author: Adriana Locke
Genre: Romantic Comedy/Sports Romance
Release Date: September 7, 2017
Blurb

People say not to believe the things you read in magazines, but you know what? Most things you’ve heard about me are probably true.

I totally banged the reporter in the locker room after the championship game last year.

Those pictures in Expose from last summer? Those were not modified.

I’m also not really six-foot tall. (But let’s keep that between us.)

Now, I know you’re wondering about that last Expose headline—the one about me and my teammate (and ex-best friend) Finn Miller’s sister, Layla James. That one is a little more complicated.

Here’s the thing: I’ve played football my whole life. If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to adjust when the game changes. And if there’s one thing I always do, it’s find a way to win.

Granted, the stakes are higher. The playbook has changed. There’s more on the line than (another) MVP title. But guess what hasn’t changed? Me. I’m still Branch “Lucky” Best and I’m not about to fumble this one.

Grab a seat and a subscription to Expose. I’m about to make some headlines. (Again.)

A sexy, swoon-filled standalone novel.

Review

Let me be the first to tell you that Branch Best is quite the player – both on and off the football field. And from my perspective, it’s easy to see why Branch lives his life with no commitments other than the ones to his teammates and his organization, and I have to admit that I respect the hell out of him for living his life that way because I’d much rather him be a manwhore who finds it difficult to stay out of the celebrity news magazines than a cheater who has no respect for his significant other or the women he cheats with because that kind of guy isn’t a man at all!

To the public eye, Branch is the life of the party, taking advantage of every perk that comes with being a pro player and living his life according to the three W’s – women-weed-work. And if you’re someone who wants a piece of him, he’ll gladly give you a chance, but you’ll never truly know him or understand that beneath his playboy exterior is a guy who’s just trying to find some balance…some normalcy in a setting that is abnormal.

But away from the industry…away from the fan girls…away from the limelight, Branch can just be Branch and find a bit of peace in his life of total chaos, and maybe even meet a woman whose calming presence makes him want to connect with her in ways that he’s never wanted to since he entered the NFL and even though Branch thinks he can make adjustments on the fly when a part of the game changes, Layla James doesn’t play football and life sometimes throws an audible that no one ever saw coming.

Adriana Locke does a good job of illustrating the varying layers of Branch’s personality as well as how incompatible Branch and Layla’s lives appear to be. But what Locke also showcases is that perhaps things happen for a reason and that life has a bigger game plan for people than they realize and they just need to be able to adapt as well as realize that when an opportunity arises that offers something better regardless of how difficult it is to change, that’s the Hail Mary play that needs to be called.

There’s fantastic commentary in Branch and Layla’s story about the environment and lifestyle that professional athletes find themselves in once they sign their contracts – it’s a world that is incredibly hedonistic, and it’s extremely difficult to remain true to who the players were before the money and fame due to its lavishness and the limitless opportunities offered simply because they wear a team’s jersey.

Branch and Layla’s journey isn’t an easy one, for either of them, due to a number of obstacles that include a brother who will go to extremes to protect his sister. There’s a lot that the main characters have to deal with on a personal level because that’s the only way that they’ll ever be able to find the balance they both need in order to make things work regardless of what that means.

4.5 Poison Apples

Excerpt

“One question,” Poppy interjects, looking at Branch. “What position are you?”

“I typically like the bottom so I can watch—oomph,” he says, getting another elbow from Finn. “Wide receiver. Why?”

Looking at Poppy, I can’t help but laugh as her eyes light up.

“You got a problem with wide receivers?” Branch asks.

“You do,” Finn interjects, giving me a narrowed glare. “They aren’t any better than quarterbacks.”

Branch looks from me, to Finn, and back to me. “Why do we not like quarterbacks?”

“My sister was dating Callum Worthington.”

“No shit?” His face puckers like he just bit into a lemon. “How in the hell did that cocksucker end up with you?”

“He didn’t. We’re not together anymore.”

Branch’s eyes heat, the look causing my pulse to quicken. “I’m not a bit sorry to hear that.”

“You better forget you heard any of that,” Finn warns. “This is my sister, Branch. Not a cheerleader or reporter or some chick from a dating app. Got it?”

“Finn, relax,” I say, shoving a swallow past the lump in my throat. “I appreciate the big brother spiel, but

I can handle myself.”

“I know you can,” he says, pulling his gaze away from Branch. “But you can’t handle him.”

COVER REVEAL: Jacob’s Ladder by Katie Ashley

Meet Gabe in Jacob’s Ladder – A new rock star romance

from Katie Ashley releasing this fall!

Add Jacob’s Ladder: Gabe to your TBR: http://bit.ly/2eKxkZN

Full Blurb

As the lead songwriter for Jacob’s Ladder, the last thing Gabe Renard needs is a debilitating case of writer’s block. After years of meaningless one night stands, he’s finding it hard to pen the love-filled ballads the label is requesting. In an effort to clear his mind, Gabe takes his jeep off-roading in the North Georgia Mountains. When a wrong-turn leads to him getting stuck more than just creatively, he’s forced to call for help. To his surprise, the “Ray” who has been sent by Hart Wreckers to his aid is actually “Rae”—a sexy-as-hell spitfire in a pair of tight-as-hell jeans. The combination of Rae’s sassy mouth and rocking body might be the inspiration Gabe needs. But for the first time since becoming a rock star, his advances have been shot down.

Reagan Hart has never been a fan of musicians. In fact, just the mention of one might cause her to throw a tire tool. Her disgust for them started when she was just eight and her mother ran off with a traveling country singer, and it only worsened when at seventeen, her rocker boyfriend knocked her up before blowing out of town. As a single mother taking care of her family’s collision business, Rae doesn’t have time for hook ups, much less a relationship. And if she did make time, a musician would be last on her list, even one as good-looking as Gabe Renard.

Can Gabe find the words to prove not only to Rae, but himself, that she’s the only one for him?

EXCERPT REVEAL: DIRTY LITTLE SECRET by Kendall Ryan

Gavin Kingsley burst into my life in a sharp and unexpected twist of fate. You know his type—arrogant, dangerously handsome and impossible to ignore.

Something dark within him calls to the shadows inside me. I long for the kind of heart-wrenching passion I’ve only read about, and his tragic past reads like one of my favorite literary classics. Raw. Visceral. Captivating. Together, we’re a perfect mess.

The deeper I fall into his world, the more I crave him like a drug—he pushes every boundary I have, and challenges everything I thought I wanted. I want to unlock his heart. I want his dirty secrets.

But in the end, will he be the blade that cuts me … or the bond that makes my life complete?

Written in the same vein as Kendall Ryan’s New York Times bestselling and much loved international phenomenon, Filthy Beautiful Lies, Dirty Little Secret begins an erotic new series.

Excerpt

“Emma could be the perfect companion, don’t you think?” I turned to face his desk, where he still sat.

He rolled his eyes, and I swooped in for the kill. He’d had his chance. I’d given it to him on a silver platter. Which meant that the coast was clear. If he didn’t want her . . .

“So, you don’t mind if I take her to the Bennett Foundation gala?” I raised my eyebrows.

Gavin’s brow furrowed but his eyes went ice cold, his pause saying far more than his words. “Of course not. Why would I mind?”

Bullshit.

Maybe this little push was just what he needed to get his head out of his ass.

I nodded. “Good.”

His mouth turned down a notch, and I could tell he was thinking. Processing.

For a moment, I didn’t think he was going to take the bait. But then, I knew my brother. I’d laid down a challenge, questioned why he was so adamantly against the idea of hiring her, and although he didn’t want to open up and share, this topic was far from over. Our calendars were slammed, and we both knew it. His assistant had joked just that morning that it would make her job a hell of a lot easier if we each just found a girlfriend. Gavin had scoffed so hard, I thought he was going to bust an artery.

Gavin heaved out a sharp exhale. “What makes you so interested in her, anyway? I thought they were all a number on a paycheck to you?”

I shrugged. “They are until they’re not. You, of all people, should know—”

“Enough,” Gavin barked.

“Right.” I shoved my hands in my pockets. “Shame, though. Seems like there’s something . . . interesting between you two.” Briefly, I wondered if they had a history. “Anything you want to tell me?”

“No, but I have a question for you,” he snapped back with a lethal smile that didn’t reach his narrowed eyes. “What the fuck are you still doing in my office?”

“Trying to find out whether you’re going to let me have this one, or if we’re going to be fighting for the same prize,” I answered honestly.

Gavin looked up from his screen. “Are you high?” His mouth thinned into a firm, chiseled line. “If you want her, take her. I’m not playing with her like she’s a chew toy.”

“Okay. But that doesn’t change the fact that you need a date to the charity auction. A girl like her on your arm? Imagine the business we could do. She’s like a walking commercial. And when you’re done rubbing elbows with all the fancy people, I’ll take her off your hands for a couple of events of my own. Use your head, man, she’s perfect. The girl every guy wants to be seen with. Sweet enough to bring home to Mother, hot enough to imagine her on her knees, with that mouth—”

“Got it,” Gavin snapped. He stared at a point on the ceiling, then blew out an annoyed sigh. “If I take her to the fucking auction, will you stop, already?”

“Yup.”

“I’ll tell you right now, though, if this is business, neither of us are sleeping with her.”

I bit back a laugh but nodded anyway. If that was what Gavin wanted to tell himself, I wasn’t about to stop him. Fact was, though, if she would have either of us, we’d probably get our dicks caught in our zippers in the rush to get our pants off. Telling him that would only make him change his mind, and I’d gotten what I wanted.

If this girl had my big brother this riled up? She was something special. And no matter what he thought of himself, he deserved something special in his life again. If I had to agree to take her out as well just to get him to go along with it, so be it.

It wasn’t exactly a hardship, after all.

EXCERPT REVEAL: LUST by Emma Hart

LUST-banner

LUST2New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, brings together two polar-opposite single parents in the second book in the sinfully sexy Vegas Nights series.

Detective Adrian Potter had a lot to answer for. I didn’t care that he was tasked with shutting down the city’s most prolific hookers.

I cared that he was stopping me from providing for my daughter.

He didn’t care.
Not at all.
Until I broke down in the backseat of his car… And he let me go.

Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.

My name is Perrie Fox.
I was a whore of the highest value.

Until Detective Adrian Potter.

Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.

The cop and the hooker.

Happily ever fucking never.

You’ve met one Fox sibling.
Now meet the other…

(LUST is book two of the Vegas Nights series. While it is a standalone, the time frame does overlap with scenes in the previous book, SIN. You can, however, read LUST without reading SIN.)

“So, are you seeing him?”

“Tomorrow.” She paused. “I have an interview at The Scarlet Letter for a position as a bartender. I have to call my sitter.”

“Charity?”

“You’d think, right? But no—Dahlia was very clear. I’m not being offered a job, merely an interview. She’s savvy and smart, I’ll give her that.”

I smiled, looking out as Zac cannonballed into the pool.

Perrie rolled her eyes for me. “Zac! No balls, okay?”

I grinned.

Zac looked back at her, wide-eyed.

“Yeah, Zac! No balls! I don’t want your balls in this pool!” Lola shouted.

Perrie slapped her hand against her face. “Goddamn it.”

I did all I could do—burst out laughing.

“What’s so funny?” Zac asked.

“No cannonballs, Zacco!” I reiterated, forcing my laughter under control. He saluted me, and I snorted when he dived underwater. Judging by Lola’s shriek, he was going for her ankles.

Not a smart choice after the dinosaurs last night.

Lola screamed at the top of her lungs. “Dinosaurs!”

Zac sputtered with laughter as he broke the surface.

“Zac!” I said sharply. “Stop it.”

“’Kay, Dad!” He turned to Lola, and apologized loud enough that we could hear it.

Perrie sighed heavily. “Kids give me a headache.”

I laughed, leaning right back. The grill was smoking and I’d probably wasted the chance to cook, but fuck it. I’d order in. The kids were having fun and we were talking. Hell, I was learning things about her I never thought I would.

I’d buy fifty pizzas if we could carry on like this. Unraveling the mystery of Perrie Fox was priceless.

“Are you nervous about seeing Damien?” I asked her, looking at her. My eyes skirted her profile, from her button nose to the freckles that dotted it and the lashes that fanned against her skin to the lips that pursed in the perfect pout of her indecision.

“Yes. No. I don’t know. He’s my brother, but eight years is a long time.” She twirled a lock of hair around her finger. “I didn’t think I ever would again, so maybe that’s the thing I can’t accept. That I am going to see him.”

“I get that.”

“Do you?”

“No. I was trying to be sympathetic.”

She laughed anyway. “I think the grill is screwed.”

I sighed. “I know, but when you talk, I listen.”

“That sounds like a line.”

I side-eyed her. “If it was, would it work?”

“For what?”

“To get my cock inside you again.”

She pursed her lips. “At least you’re honest.”

REVIEW BLITZ AND EXCERPT: ONE NIGHT by Aleatha Romig

A sweet, fun, and sexy stand-alone romance from New York Times bestselling author Aleatha Romig.

One night to remember

Is that too much to desire?

One night for fun, passion, and a chance to remember what it’s like to be a woman.
I’m not looking for love.
There’s a man in my life who loves me with all his heart. He has beautiful blue eyes, is three feet tall, and calls me mommy.
He’s my whole world and I’m his. Fate stole his daddy way too soon.
What would happen if I allowed fate another chance, just for one night?

One night to help a friend

Why did I agree to this?
Blind dates are disasters. If I weren’t helping the friend of a friend, I wouldn’t go.
I’m not looking for romance, love, or even a one-night stand.
After all, the man my friend knew is gone. I’m no longer the hockey star known for his “pep” on the ice and in the sack. I have a new life, and a new career—a new passion. I’m not looking for more.
When the blind date is a bust, could fate change everything?

One night doesn’t end with a kiss—it begins with one.

Be ready to laugh, cry, and fall head over heels as you meet Leatha, the lighter side of Aleatha in this new sweet and sexy stand-alone romance, ONE NIGHT.

Review

I’m loving this lighter side of Aleatha Romig. Her sweet and sexy stories teach readers to make every moment count…to truly live, even if it’s one night, for themselves because if their lives aren’t being filled with people or things just for them, it’s easy to feel incomplete, even when they believe it’s enough.

For five years, Amanda Wells has been a single mom, taking care of Jase and making each day all about providing and living for him. Regardless of how much her friends and family tell her that she needs to find balance…needs to have fun…needs to want something just for herself, her guilt, fears, and maybe even her insecurities keep her a captive in her own life.

Until one night…

Because in one night, Amanda feels a bit like her old self, Mandy, and gives her body over to the instant attraction she feels for Malcolm, knowing that it’s only a one time deal and her life will go back to the woman and mother she’s been for the past five years.

But not if Malcolm has anything to say about it.

Amanda and Malcolm’s story is a bit of a whirlwind romance for both the characters and the readers. Romig does an amazing job of illustrating just how taken the hero and heroine are during their first interaction and as their feelings build with the stolen nights they share, regardless of Mandy’s hesitancy and Malcolm’s promise to not get too ‘real,’ it’s more than just a physical connection between them…Mandy just needs to decide if she’s ready to move on from her old life and bring the two men in her life – her little boy and Malcolm – together to make her life fuller than she ever thought it would be again.

I adored Malcolm from the beginning of the story and even though he has a sorted past, it’s clear from the start the man he’s become and the one he no longer is; he’s made a new life for himself with new aspirations and he desperately wants Mandy to be a part of it, but he truly understands her hesitancy once she shares some of her past with him, and he accepts what she can give him wholeheartedly, never pushing too much but always making Mandy aware that he wants everything with her.

One Night is a feel good read; even though there are a few sad moments, the focus is on moving forward and living a full life despite the burden of the past, and it’s completely clear that Amanda needs to find herself again and Malcolm is definitely the man to help that happen.

Mandy

When we finally pull apart, before I can speak or even contemplate what happened, Malcolm’s blue eyes shine down on me, taking me in and reading me.

His voice rumbles through the background commotion of the bar. “You taste like sweet wine and smell like perfume and desire.”

Warmth fills my cheeks. “You taste like good beer.”

“Good? You’re a beer connoisseur?”

I shrug. “Mostly, I know cheap beer.”

He lifts my chin, bringing his indigo eyes into focus. The room disappears, making those blue orbs all I can see.

“I’m a connoisseur,” he says as his thumb gently rubs over my bruised lips. “And you, beautiful Mandy, if you were a beer, would never be a cheap one. No, you’re a rich custom craft brew. I see it in your eyes, feel it in your touch, and smell it in the air. Kissing a stranger isn’t something you do, is it?”

I try to move my eyes away, but Malcolm’s grip of my chin is unrelenting. Meeting his gaze, I reply, “No. I won’t even bore you with how long it’s been since I’ve kissed a real man.”

His eyes sparkle. “You kiss fake men?”

“Boys. Well, only one actually.”

“You kiss boys…” And then, as if the reality of his statement hits home, he asks, “You have a son?”

My heart flutters, its speed increasing by the second. “I do, but I don’t want to talk about him. Not because he isn’t important for he is—he’s my world—but because tonight isn’t about him. It’s about me.” I can’t gauge Malcolm’s reaction. I can only guess that he’s assuming that I’m some needy woman trying to get a man to take on the responsibility of a kid who isn’t his.

I reach out and splay my fingers over his chest. His heart is beating to match mine. “I don’t want to talk about him,” I continue, “because he’ll never know about you—I’ll never tell him and never introduce you. Don’t worry. I’m not after a man to rescue me. I’m perfectly content with my life as a mother. I just wanted to remember what it felt like to be a woman…for just one night.”

“I’m not anti-children—”

I shake my head. “Stop. That doesn’t matter.” It’s then that I notice the filled glasses on the table and laugh. “When did the waitress come?”

Malcolm bows his head until our noses touch. He inhales deeply, his eyes closing as his hand falls to my lap. “I’d say just after you.”

More heat floods my cheeks. “I-I didn’t…”

“Then we need to do something about that.” He looks again at the full glasses. “I think the drinks came while my tongue was busy getting to know your sweet mouth.” His hand splays over my thigh.

My breathing hitches. “Malcolm?”

“You said you want one night. One night doesn’t end with a kiss. It begins with one.”
