RELEASE LAUNCH: Barking Up the Wrong Tree by Juliette Poe

Things in Whynot, NC have gone to the dogs, and that’s just the way the town’s only veterinarian, Laken Mancinkus, likes it. No matter if she’s up when the rooster crows, or working until the cows come home, Laken never leaves an animal in need. So when a gorgeous Yankee comes begging for help herding some wily goats, Laken is up to the task.

Jake McDaniel is looking for a tax break, and what better way than to take up…farming? This ex-football player turned businessman turned unwitting goat farmer is up to his knees in goat drama. Runaway goats, dehydrated goats, and a baby goat that wants no one other than him, Jake needs more help than he cares to admit. Good thing the sexy veterinarian is right there to coach him on how to be a farmer. The only problem is, Laken’s not looking for anything more than a good time, while Jake is looking for his forever girl.

Will the baby goat, and Laken, be enough to get Jake to stay? Or will he take his tax break and hoof it back to Chicago? One thing is for certain…what happens on the farm doesn’t always stay on the farm.

RELEASE BOOST: REVIEW AND EXCERPT: LUCKY NUMBER ELEVEN by Adriana Locke

Title: Lucky Number Eleven
Author: Adriana Locke
Genre: Romantic Comedy/Sports Romance
Release Date: September 7, 2017
Blurb

People say not to believe the things you read in magazines, but you know what? Most things you’ve heard about me are probably true.

I totally banged the reporter in the locker room after the championship game last year.

Those pictures in Expose from last summer? Those were not modified.

I’m also not really six-foot tall. (But let’s keep that between us.)

Now, I know you’re wondering about that last Expose headline—the one about me and my teammate (and ex-best friend) Finn Miller’s sister, Layla James. That one is a little more complicated.

Here’s the thing: I’ve played football my whole life. If there’s one thing I know, it’s how to adjust when the game changes. And if there’s one thing I always do, it’s find a way to win.

Granted, the stakes are higher. The playbook has changed. There’s more on the line than (another) MVP title. But guess what hasn’t changed? Me. I’m still Branch “Lucky” Best and I’m not about to fumble this one.

Grab a seat and a subscription to Expose. I’m about to make some headlines. (Again.)

A sexy, swoon-filled standalone novel.

Review

Let me be the first to tell you that Branch Best is quite the player – both on and off the football field. And from my perspective, it’s easy to see why Branch lives his life with no commitments other than the ones to his teammates and his organization, and I have to admit that I respect the hell out of him for living his life that way because I’d much rather him be a manwhore who finds it difficult to stay out of the celebrity news magazines than a cheater who has no respect for his significant other or the women he cheats with because that kind of guy isn’t a man at all!

To the public eye, Branch is the life of the party, taking advantage of every perk that comes with being a pro player and living his life according to the three W’s – women-weed-work. And if you’re someone who wants a piece of him, he’ll gladly give you a chance, but you’ll never truly know him or understand that beneath his playboy exterior is a guy who’s just trying to find some balance…some normalcy in a setting that is abnormal.

But away from the industry…away from the fan girls…away from the limelight, Branch can just be Branch and find a bit of peace in his life of total chaos, and maybe even meet a woman whose calming presence makes him want to connect with her in ways that he’s never wanted to since he entered the NFL and even though Branch thinks he can make adjustments on the fly when a part of the game changes, Layla James doesn’t play football and life sometimes throws an audible that no one ever saw coming.

Adriana Locke does a good job of illustrating the varying layers of Branch’s personality as well as how incompatible Branch and Layla’s lives appear to be. But what Locke also showcases is that perhaps things happen for a reason and that life has a bigger game plan for people than they realize and they just need to be able to adapt as well as realize that when an opportunity arises that offers something better regardless of how difficult it is to change, that’s the Hail Mary play that needs to be called.

There’s fantastic commentary in Branch and Layla’s story about the environment and lifestyle that professional athletes find themselves in once they sign their contracts – it’s a world that is incredibly hedonistic, and it’s extremely difficult to remain true to who the players were before the money and fame due to its lavishness and the limitless opportunities offered simply because they wear a team’s jersey.

Branch and Layla’s journey isn’t an easy one, for either of them, due to a number of obstacles that include a brother who will go to extremes to protect his sister. There’s a lot that the main characters have to deal with on a personal level because that’s the only way that they’ll ever be able to find the balance they both need in order to make things work regardless of what that means.

Excerpt

“One question,” Poppy interjects, looking at Branch. “What position are you?”

“I typically like the bottom so I can watch—oomph,” he says, getting another elbow from Finn. “Wide receiver. Why?”

Looking at Poppy, I can’t help but laugh as her eyes light up.

“You got a problem with wide receivers?” Branch asks.

“You do,” Finn interjects, giving me a narrowed glare. “They aren’t any better than quarterbacks.”

Branch looks from me, to Finn, and back to me. “Why do we not like quarterbacks?”

“My sister was dating Callum Worthington.”

“No shit?” His face puckers like he just bit into a lemon. “How in the hell did that cocksucker end up with you?”

“He didn’t. We’re not together anymore.”

Branch’s eyes heat, the look causing my pulse to quicken. “I’m not a bit sorry to hear that.”

“You better forget you heard any of that,” Finn warns. “This is my sister, Branch. Not a cheerleader or reporter or some chick from a dating app. Got it?”

“Finn, relax,” I say, shoving a swallow past the lump in my throat. “I appreciate the big brother spiel, but

I can handle myself.”

“I know you can,” he says, pulling his gaze away from Branch. “But you can’t handle him.”

REVIEW BLITZ: Drunk On You by Harper Sloan

Pageflex Persona [document: PRS0000039_00005]It was supposed to be fun.

A mutual use of each other’s bodies.

To be a ruse to the world around us.

I wanted to be free from my ex, and he wanted to escape his.

One drunken night turned a joke into a life-changing moment.

He warned me not to fall for him, and I should’ve listened.

He intoxicated me.

He made me crave him.

He ruined me.

In the end, I’ll never be the same.

Review

Harper Sloan definitely knows how to get down and dirty in her stories, provocatively illustrating the sexual attraction and connection that sizzles between her hero and heroine through every sizzling glance, dirty word, and sexual play. This time around, Sloan adds in the world of BDSM, exploring the Dominant/submissive relationship, which only adds to her hero’s alpha tendencies and proves just how good Sloan is at creating a man’s man, one who protects and serves even while discovering exactly what the heroine means to him and what he’s willing to do prevent her from getting hurt, even if it’s from himself.

Nikki is a woman of contradictions. There are two drastically different sides to her – one that depicts her as a wholesome elementary school teacher and one that shows her inner sex kitten biding her time until she can come out to play. Harper Sloan does a good job of exploring Nikki’s dual self, and as Nikki blossoms under Shane’s guidance, figuring out exactly the woman she is and wants to be, readers see Nikki come into her own, unleashing a new and improved Nikki – one who won’t be walked all over anymore.

Shane is an extremely sexual man, and he’s more than willing to teach Nikki a thing or two in the bedroom…or any other room he chooses. But that’s where it’s supposed to stop between them because Shane’s job isn’t very conducive to a ‘real’ relationship, but readers are perfectly aware of what usually happens when long-time friends become sexual partners, especially in a D/s relationship where trust and closeness is key, so it’s only a matter of time until one or both of them want something that may not be possible to have.

Shane is a whole lot of EVERYTHING! What woman wouldn’t love a French speaking stallion in the sack??? I know I’d be more than willing, so Nikki’s decision to pretend she and Shane are in a relationship, foregoing the intimacy but not the foreplay and sex makes sense to me, but it’s easy to see that Nikki’s getting in way over her head and nothing good can come from playing for a man who told you never to fall.

Even though I know Shane and Nikki’s exes were there to cause trouble and doubts, they drove me absolutely nuts throughout the entire text, so much so that I wanted to bitchslap her and knee him in the balls. I NEEDED them to get the hint and stop making everything more difficult between Shane and Nikki, but neither were willing to do that, which not only ends up proving just how right Shane and Nikki were to be finished with them but also that anything they shared with their exes was unhealthy and quite a bit damaging.

There hasn’t been a Harper Sloan book I haven’t enjoyed. There’s just something about how she blends her sex scenes with her story line, illustrating exactly why her hero and heroine have the real thing way before they realize it for themselves.

RELEASE BOOST AND REVIEW: SUGAR by Mandi Beck

Title: Sugar
Author: Mandi Beck
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 7, 2017
Blurb

Country’s hottest bad boy.

That’s what they call me. My label ate it up until I became “too bad” for the good folks of country music. That’s when Hard Candy Records picked me up and took a chance on me. Probably not their smartest move, but I won’t tell them that. Especially when they’ve assigned me a babysitter to try and keep my ass out of trouble. One smart-mouthed, unimpressed, sexy as homegrown sin, Addy Mae Masterson.

She likes to pretend that she doesn’t like me and I like to let her.

I may have a past that haunts me and she may have a habit of getting attached, but damn if I don’t want to show her just how good this bad boy can be.

Free in Kindle Unlimited

Review

It’s easy to see why Addy Mae Masterson can’t help but get attached to Beau McCrae because underneath his bad boy exterior is a man who’s struggling to find his way apart from a complicated past and a present that he just can’t help but mess up with one too many drinks…one too many women…one too many bad decisions. But when Addy’s assigned as his babysitter and she refuses to accept his bullshit and his cocky attitude, Beau realizes that he’s the man he wants to be when he’s with Addy and as long as she’s willing to put up with him and give him room to make a few misjudgments, he just might find the one sugary sweet woman who makes him want to be more than the media has portrayed him to be and more than the troubled man who he’s convinced himself he is.

It’s never a good idea to mix business with pleasure, but as Mandi Beck builds on Beau and Addy’s sexual attraction, bringing them together for more than just business meetings, it’s not a matter of if but when they’ll finally give into the sizzling chemistry between them, not only running the risk of Addy getting her heart broken but also making it difficult for one of Hard Candy Music’s newest clients to step out of line because hurting Addy means hurting her friends and since they’re the ones responsible for Beau’s career, he best make sure he doesn’t piss any of them off, which is easier said than done with Beau’s track record and the way he lashes out when he’s scared and distracted.

Mandi Beck has created one intelligent, beautiful, and truly capable heroine, but even though Addy’s a ball buster, she also have a softer, more sensitive side and that’s the one she fears when it comes to her attraction to Beau. It’s easy to understand why Addy gets attached to people; she loves with all that she is and when she’s invested…it’s pretty much all or nothing and while that can definitely be a detriment when it comes to the men in her life; her hardcore feelings show how truly special she is.

Despite the mess that Addy and Beau create for themselves by crossing a line they probably shouldn’t have, in the big picture, it’s probably what allows Beau to admit some difficult truths about his past and it’s also what helps Beau to realize what made him the bad boy of country music and then take the steps to change his ways not only for the potential woman in his life but for himself too!

I’d gladly do the watermelon crawl and go to ‘church’ with Beau McCrae because with his lyrical voice, sinfully hot body, and his bad boy ways, there’s no telling what trouble he’ll stir up and if it’s of the naked variety then I’m definitely in.

4 Poison Apples
Author Bio

Mandi Beck has been an avid reader all of her life. A deep love for books always had her jotting down little stories on napkins, notebooks, and her hand. As an adult she was further submerged into the book world through book clubs and the epicness of social media. It was then that she graduated to writing her stories on her phone and then finally on a proper computer.

A wife, mother to two rambunctious and somewhat rotten boys, and stepmom to two great girls away at college, she shares her time with her husband and boys in Chicago where she was born and raised. Mandi is a diehard hockey fan and blames the Blackhawks when her deadlines are not met.

SNEAK PEEK: Dear Bridget, I Want You by Penelope Ward and Vi Keeland

Dear Bridget,

I’m writing this letter because it’s highly doubtful I’ll ever garner the courage to say this to your face.

So, here goes.

We’re totally wrong for each other. You’re the proper single mum with a good head on your shoulders. I’m just the carefree British doctor passing through town and temporarily living in your converted garage until I head back to England.

But here’s the thing… for some bloody reason, I can’t stop thinking about you in very inappropriate ways.

I want you.

The only reason I’m even admitting all of this to you right now is because I don’t believe it’s one-sided. I notice your eyes when you look at me, too. And as crass as I appear when we’re joking around about sex, my attraction to you is not a joke.

So, what’s the purpose of this note? I guess it’s a reminder that we’re adults, that sex is healthy and natural, and that you can find me just through the door past the kitchen. More specifically, it’s to let you know that I’m leaving said door cracked open from now on in case you’d like to visit me in the middle of the night sometime.

No questions asked.

Think about it.

Or don’t.

Whatever you choose.

It’s doubtful I’ll even end up sliding this letter under your door anyway.

–Simon

SNEAK PEEK

Every time I considered leaving my room, I would grab the framed picture of Ben and stare at it.  The urge to go to Simon was so strong; I basically hadn’t put down the framed photo of my deceased husband in an hour.  I was lying in my bed, holding a picture of a dead man while fantasizing about one who was very much alive and in the other room.  With the door cracked open waiting for me.  There was one part of Simon’s note that I just kept reading over and over.

I want to make you come. Hard. I want you to get lost in me and I want to hear you say my name over and over while we fuck.

While we fuck.

While we fuck.

I was pretty sure that Ben had never used the word fuck like that before.  Did we even fuck?  We made love, sure.  Our sex life was normal—at least, I think it was normal.  Don’t get me wrong, the passion wasn’t the same as when we first got together.  But after ten years, both of us working full time and raising a child, it was normal to have some of the desire dwindle, wasn’t it?

While we fuck.

I looked at the picture of my husband and sighed.  We didn’t fuck.  Not even in the beginning.   And I felt guilty for that now.  Maybe we should have been fucking.  I certainly didn’t do anything to entice him to want me the last few years.  Was it my fault our sex life had gotten boring?  I rested the picture of Ben over my heart and laid my hand over it.  I could feel my heart beating out of control beneath my fingers.

Shutting my eyes, I tried to force thoughts of Simon from my mind.  But it was no use.  Visions of his hard, sculpted body hovering over me had infiltrated my brain.  So, here I was, a thirty-three-year-old, single mother lying in my bed all alone with a picture of my dead husband held to my heart while I visualized fucking another man.

Fucking.

Not making love.

I needed my head examined.

After two hours and no sleep in sight, I decided the only way I was going to be able to get any rest was if I got everything I was feeling off of my chest.  Flicking on the light, I carefully set the framed photo of my beloved Ben on my nightstand and then opened the drawer and dug out a pen and piece of pretty stationery.  I would write down my thoughts to clear my mind.  I had no intention of actually giving the letter to Simon, so there was no reason to filter anything I said.

Dear Simon…

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW: LUST by Emma Hart

LUST2New York Times bestselling author, Emma Hart, brings together two polar-opposite single parents in the second book in the sinfully sexy Vegas Nights series.

Detective Adrian Potter had a lot to answer for. I didn’t care that he was tasked with shutting down the city’s most prolific hookers.

I cared that he was stopping me from providing for my daughter.

He didn’t care.
Not at all.
Until I broke down in the backseat of his car… And he let me go.

Adrian was a single parent, too. He knew how hard I had it. At least, he thought he did.
He had a job. He had people who cared. He didn’t know just how lucky he was.

My name is Perrie Fox.
I was a whore of the highest value.

Until Detective Adrian Potter.

Until the tattooed, redemption-seeking detective entered my life, looking for his fairytale.

The cop and the hooker.

Happily ever fucking never.

You’ve met one Fox sibling.
Now meet the other…

(LUST is book two of the Vegas Nights series. While it is a standalone, the time frame does overlap with scenes in the previous book, SIN. You can, however, read LUST without reading SIN.)

Review

Welcome to Sin City. The city that Never sleeps. The city where people can win and lose just as big.The city where alcohol flows and debauchery reigns. The city that pits cop against prostitute in its ‘seedy underbelly,’ both doing their jobs for a variety of reasons and finding ways to provide for their family, even if the risks are high and the clientele reprehensible.

A Hooker. A Prostitute. A Whore. A Fox.

One of these terms is definitely not synonymous with the others, but for Perrie Fox, they all define her current circumstances and the one that carries the most weight has nothing to do with her last name because a whore is a whore regardless of how much make-up she puts on…how stylish her clothes are…how much she washes and scrubs the filth and judgment off her body. And when it comes to how Perrie sees herself and the situation that she was forced to live due to her family’s  refusal to help her when she needed them the most.

A cop and a prostitute joining forces sounds like the start of a bad joke, but in Lust, it’s Perrie and Adrian’s reality, and even though Perrie has no other choice than to work with Adrian, it’s also a way for her to get out of a profession that she never should have had to be a part of in the first place.

It’s always the off-limits and untouchable women who the heroes seem to gravitate towards, and Detective Adrian Potter finds himself in that exact situation when he allows Perrie to remain free and allows her and her daughter into his life more than he probably should allow, crossing lines that shouldn’t be crossed but not being able to stop it from happening because as much as Perrie believes Adrian doesn’t understand her…doesn’t truly see who she is beneath a profession he despises, he does know that she’s not meant to be someone’s whore…she’s not meant to live around squalor and darkness…she’s not meant to risk her life to put food in her daughter’s belly and a roof over her head, and Adrian will stop at nothing to figure out this blonde bombshell whose last name is synonymous with money but whose lifestyle doesn’t reflect any of the luxury that comes with the Fox moniker.

Emma Hart continues to create broken and flawed yet feisty and capable heroines – ones who deal with the hand their dealt the only way they know how and while others may judge them and question why they’re in the situations they are, Hart allows her leading ladies to tell their stories honestly, offering insights that only they can shed light on because the inside is so much more than what is shown on the outside.

I adored Detective Adrian Potter. He may allow his past to dictate too much of his present, but the reasons for that are completely understandable and his reaction and subsequent actions illustrate a man intent on ensuring another child doesn’t lose a parent to a profession that chews women up and spits them out, seeing them as nothing but a way to make money one of the worst possible ways.

Hart’s Vegas Nights is one kickass series with likable main and secondary characters and story lines that sizzle and soothe in all the best ways!

Dirty Filthy Rich Men (book 1)

Dirty Filthy Rich Boys (free series starter)

Blurb

I’ve discovered Donovan Kincaid’s secret.

It’s dirty and filthy and rich – as dirty and filthy and rich as he is – and it haunts me as much as he ever did.

Even after knowing what I know now, I still want to talk to him, to touch him. But there’s an ocean between us, and I’m not sure it can be crossed with something as easy as a phone call or a plane ride.

Yet I’m willing to try.

He doesn’t know this yet, but this time I’m the one with the power. And maybe – just maybe – if the air were cleared and all our secrets bared, there could still be a chance for us.

And this dirty, filthy thing between us might end up being love after all.

Review

Heading into part two of Sabrina and Donovan’s duet, there was a litany of unfinished business to attend to – truths that needed to be said…secrets that needed to be revealed…indulgences that needed to be explored. It was clear that Donovan had overstepped and Sabrina had felt played by the man who both saved and hurt her, but what wasn’t clear was if they could fix what he had broken by running away and controlling her life in ways that she never could have fathomed if the evidence wasn’t laid out in front of him.

And at the heart of it all…at the center of everything Sabrina and Donovan represent to each other and everything that this duet signifies is a series of potentially unanswerable questions – ones that deal with the abstract concept of love and the real possibility that even though crossing boundaries, manipulating situations, and obsessing over every single aspect of another person’s life may be seen as abnormal, those actions are what bring Sabrina into herself and offer Donovan a way to deal with his compulsions in a way that proves what Sabrina means to him, even if no one else understands.

The psychological warfare that occurs in Dirty Filthy Rich Love is perfectly written; both Donovan and Sabrina are complex characters who cannot truly capture in words only how deeply they are imbedded in one another’s souls. But it’s even more than that because their fixation on each other makes them act, especially Donovan, in ways that society in general would not deem as acceptable; yet, Sabrina can’t help but see Donovan’s actions for something other than deranged and stalkerish, which is quite the anomaly when it comes to how much he interfered in her life.

As an outsider looking in on the relationship that Donovan and Sabrina share, starting with how they came together in the first place, I’m not sure I can recognize their relationship as a healthy one, but Laurelin Paige shapes their connection in such a way that even if their words and actions seem illogical, it works for who they are and what they have come to mean to one another, so I can’t judge them because when it comes to love, people say and do things that overstep in a multitude of ways; their sins just remain concealed while Donovan’s exposed.

For much of the story, I was simply a voyeur trying to wrap my head around the reasons for Donovan’s compulsions, but because readers were not privy to his perspective, I felt unprepared to evaluate him, which, in a way, left me feeling like I couldn’t truly understand the whys and hows of his manipulative actions. But the fact that Paige shows and dissects Sabrina’s thought process when it comes to Donovan’s revelations and her subsequent choices, I could understand why Sabrina chose to stand by him instead of run away from him and even though most women would not, it’s been clear from the start of the duet that Sabrina Lind is NOT most women and Donovan Kincaid is definitely NOT most men!

Excerpt

He took another step toward me, and I started to step back, but there was a counter behind me, so I had to stay put. And maybe I wanted to stay put. He was only a foot and a half away from me now.

“But I haven’t lied to you, Sabrina.” His gaze never left mine. “And I’m not lying when I say I don’t give a fuck about anybody else’s cunt but yours.”

We stood there, not touching, not speaking, each of us standing our ground. But I had no basis to keep my position, and it felt like he’d won so much already.

I couldn’t back down.

“Prove it,” I said.

His expression flared, his eyes growing dark and mean, and I realized what I’d done. Donovan wasn’t one to be provoked.

I’d just invited the devil out to play.

“Unzip your skirt and put your hands on the counter behind you.”

My heart hammered and my belly twisted. My panties were embarrassingly drenched all of a sudden, and I wanted him. But I stood completely still. “I didn’t—”

He cut me off. “No talking and unzip your skirt.”

My mouth slammed shut, but I still didn’t move. If I moved, I’d be asking for this. But if I talked, I’d be telling him to stop.

And I didn’t want this to stop.

I just didn’t want to ask for it because I was stubborn and stupid for wanting him in the first place.

But he would give it to me without the words, without my obedience. Because he knew me. He knew what I needed.

With his eyes never leaving mine, he found the zipper at the side of my waist and pulled it down. After that, the skirt was loose enough that all he had to do was tug it once and it fell easily to my feet. He nudged his knee against my inner leg, and automatically I stepped that foot out of the pool of material on the floor, widening my stance.

He gave a nod of praise, sending a jolt of warmth through my entire body.

Then he bent down in front of me.

Suddenly, breathing was harder than it should have been. My chest moved up and down, air passed through my mouth, but I couldn’t get enough of it to my lungs.

And he hadn’t even touched me yet.

The sight of him alone—Donovan Kincaid, one of the most powerful men in the world, down on his knees in his black Ermenegildo Zegna suit—it was overwhelming and erotic, and by the time he put his hand at the back of my knee, I was already trembling.

Be sure to grab your copy today!

About TRIPPED OUT:

Where there’s smoke…

Stirling Gradsky abandoned the corporate rat race for a more laidback lifestyle. So it’s ironic she’s stuck working with a hard-bodied, know-it-all scientist who treats her like a stoner instead of a stone cold business woman capable of running a large scale cannabis operation. Dr. Hot and Tattooed with the big…brain needs to stop sampling their product; he’s under the half-baked idea that he’s the boss.

Dr. Liam Argent’s doctorate isn’t in chemistry, but from the moment he meets his sexy new coworker, there’s enough heat between them to short out all the lights in the grow house. First item on his agenda? Clearing up the sassy, blunt blonde’s hazy notion that she’s in charge.

Sparks fly as their attraction blazes. But can they weed out their differences without getting burned?

Review

‘Find who you were meant to be.’

There’s not a better piece of advice that anyone could get when it comes to happiness in life, and while Stirling Gradsky and Liam Argent’s ‘find’ themselves in unconventional careers and maybe even appearances that don’t truly depict all that they are, the fact that they took the leap and chose to make their own path and be who they want to be regardless of criticism makes them both unique and it also allows them a chance to find what they’ve always been searching for standing right in front of them.

I absolutely loved Stirling and Liam; they’re interesting characters who have more in common with each other than they realize, and once they get past pissing one another off and showing each other who truly is in control of their cannabis operation, it’s easy to see how perfect they are together, both personally and professionally.

Tripped Out is a feel good story that is both comical and sexy. Stirling and Liam’s antics as well as their numerous nicknames for one another, both before and after they get together, definitely illustrate their business focused minds as well as the physical attraction that they feel toward each other.

Stirling and Liam’s novella is a humorous quick read that doesn’t take itself too seriously, which makes sense since it’s set in a cannabis world – a place where being laidback and mellow is the rule of life.

Excerpt

The first rule of being a prankster?

A killer poker face.

And StirlingGradsky had that down pat.

The second rule of being a prankster?

Learn your opponent’s weak spots.

Maybe Stirling didn’t have that rule down entirely. Her pranking prey, Dr. Liam Argent, remained as much a mystery now as he’d been when he’d waltzed into High Society ten months ago and declared himself emperor.

Okay, maybe not emperor, but he definitely acted like the laboratory was his private kingdom.

His appearance hadn’t been a surprise. Stirling’s brother Macon, her business partner in High Society—a cannabis operation that included a retail store, a medical dispensary, and an onsite grow house—had informed her that he’d hired a guy from California, a cannabis expert, to work in the lab.

After dealing in euphemisms regarding all things cannabis related, Stirling believed “the lab” was Macon’s shorthand for the grow house. She imagined the California dude to be an older version of the iconic stoner character Spicoli from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Turned out she had been wrong on both accounts.

Macon had indeed meant he’d created a full-blown, state of the art laboratory, complete with a beefed up security system for their resident cannabis expert. And the “dude from California” turned out to be Dr. Liam Argent, stuffed shirt extraordinaire, with advanced degrees up the wazoo.

The man drove her crazy.

Crazy.

From day one he’d refused to tell her what he was working on in his fancy-ass lab. When she’d complained to Macon about Dr. Argent’s secretive manner, he’d instructed her to leave Dr. Argent alone.

Her brother may as well have waved a red flag in front of her.

She’d tried being friendly…to no avail.

She’d tried being bossy…to no avail.

She’d tried every “employee relations improvement” tactic she’d learned in her years in the corporate world…to no avail.

Hence her oh-so-mature decision to prank him until he cracked. She’d worked with men like him before. At least if you got them angry enough, they’d yell at you, which nine times out of ten led to an actual conversation.

Except Dr. Argent hadn’t shown the slightest chink in his armor. In fact, he’d joined in on her prankfest and one-upped her on occasion.

Which was why today’s prank ranked as one of the better ones he’d pulled on her.

It was also why Stirling was massively annoyed.

Redemption Lane

Sometimes the past bleeds into the future.

Bess, a wild party girl running from herself, literally falls victim to her demons when she collapses in the most unexpected of places.

Lane, a tightly wound, up-and-coming CEO who can’t seem to stop enabling his brother, doesn’t know what hit him when Bess falls at his feet and into his life.

It was a night she doesn’t remember, and one he can’t forget.

But rather than stay and help the needy college coed, Lane decides to teach his brother a long overdue lesson––a decision that later comes back to haunt him and only adds fury to the transgressions of his past he is already fleeing from.

Years later, Bess and Lane meet again. She doesn’t know him, and he doesn’t share that he knows what happened on that ill-fated night when she almost died. After all, he has a web of complicated lies from his own youth to protect.

Both are seeking salvation in the arms of others and ignoring the truth—that the only road to redemption lies in confronting your past.

When the past and present collide, is there any chance at redemption?

Absolution Road

For Jake Wrigley, the future is bleak. Some people are survivors, but he’s getting by on his bad-boy looks and charming smile. He owns a gym, gets into bar fights, and wrestles his demons with rough workouts—both in and out of the bedroom.

For Alyson Road, the future is bright. Life can only improve from where she grew up. She graduated at the top of her law class, cares for her ailing mom, and in her job, she defends those who can’t afford anyone else. Her work is thankless but honest.

Jake’s twin brother has been covering his ass for as long as they’ve been alive, but that all changes when Jake finds himself in front of the fiery public defender, his future in her hands. For the first time ever, he doesn’t want to involve his brother, finally realizing he needs to stand alone, be his own man.

Even if Jake’s never absolved of his past wrongdoings or his heart is never scrubbed of the blackness that resides there, he can do one good deed—protect the beautiful lawyer who touched his soul—until helping her nearly becomes his own undoing.

About the Author

Rachel Blaufeld is a bestselling author of Coming of Age, Romantic Suspense, and Sports Romance fiction. She recently asked her readers to describe her, and the adjectives they came up with included: insightful, generous, articulate, and spunky. Originally a social worker, Rachel creates broken yet redeeming characters. She’s been known to turn up the angst like cranking the heat up in the dead of winter.

Turning her focus on her sometimes wild-and-crazy creative side, it only took Rachel two decades to do exactly what she wanted to do—write a fiction novel. Now she spends way too many hours in local coffee shops, downing muffins and plotting her ideas. Her tales may all come with a side of angst and naughtiness, but end deliciously.

Blaufeld, also an entrepreneur/blogger, is fearless about sharing her opinion. Before turning her pen to fiction, she captured the ear of stay-at-home and working moms on her blog, BacknGrooveMom, chronicling her adventures in parenting tweens and inventing a product, often at the same time. She has also blogged for the Huffington Post and Modern Mom.

Most recently, she shares conversations from being “In Bed with a Romance Author” and reading recommendations over at “Happy Ever After” on USA TODAY.

Rachel lives around the corner from her childhood home in Pennsylvania with her family and two beagles. Her obsessions include running, coffee, basketball, icing-filled doughnuts, antiheroes, and mighty fine epilogues.
