REVIEW BLITZ: BEAUTIFUL MISTAKE by Vi Keeland

The first time I met Caine West was in a bar.

He noticed me looking his way and mistakenly read my scowling as checking him out.

When he attempted to talk to me, I set him straight—telling him what I thought of his lying, cheating, egomaniacal ass.

You see, the gorgeous jerk had wined and dined my best friend–smooth talking her into his bed, all along failing to mention that he was married.

He deserved every bit of my tongue-lashing and more for what he’d done.

Especially when that lazy smile graced his perfect face in response to my rant.

Only it turned out, the man I’d just told off wasn’t the right guy.

Oops.  My mistake.

Embarrassed, I slunk out without an apology.

I was never going to see the handsome stranger again anyway, right?

That’s what I thought…until I walked into class the next morning.

Well, hello Professor West, I’m your new teaching assistant.

I’ll be working under you…figuratively speaking.

Although the literal interpretation might not be such a bad thing—working under Professor West.

This was going to be interesting…

Review

Boy does Vi Keeland take readers on one hell of an angsty, heart wrenching journey in her latest release Beautiful Mistake! Rachel and Caine’s story is a bit different from Keeland’s usually story lines, which adds to its intrigue because once the pieces of the hero and heroine’s pasts start to make sense, fitting together in unimaginable ways, it moves beyond a forbidden love story and takes readers on a life altering journey – one where fighting against feelings seems futile because Rachel and Caine’s connection began a lot earlier than they ever would have thought.

The physical attraction between Rachel and Caine is instantaneous, even when Rachel mistakenly tells Caine off, and as they walk around one another, attempting to ignore their sexual desires, the game they’re playing gets more complicated because as stronger feelings develop, Caine’s need for Rachel and his conscience are at war with one another and the potential to mess things up on a number of levels becomes the issue for Caine, shattering Rachel in the process.

I have to admit that, at times, both characters frustrated and annoyed me. I don’t handle angst all that well, especially the kind where it’s obvious what the hero and heroine feel for one another but refuse to acknowledge due to extenuating circumstances. Rachel and Caine play a dangerous game with one another – one that could blow up in their faces, destroying much more than just their feelings for each other and those kinds of games drive me nuts because they seem so childish and unnecessary. It’s clear what the risks are if Rachel and Caine were to act not their feelings, but what remains a mystery for much of the story is why Caine believes he’ll only use and hurt Rachel if they were to try and be together because even though most of Caine’s perspective is from when he was younger, how what he does then connects to who he is now is deliberately unclear and until that connection is made, the mystery of who Caine is and why he views himself the way he does doesn’t make sense, especially when it’s clear he wants and needs Rachel in his life.

Beautiful Mistake is NOT a typical student/teacher forbidden romance because even though the story has several attributes of the trope (the angst that seems to constantly surround Rachel and Caine’s interactions as well as Caine’s hot/cold demeanor when it comes to his feelings for Rachel versus his need to remain professional and not make another bad decision), there’s a depth to the story line that is sometimes lacking in other stories of this kind and the way that Vi Keeland brings Rachel and Caine’s lives full circle, perhaps even atoning for past sins and regrets, allows readers to understand that even when something seems inappropriate or beyond reproach, it’s actually exactly what’s needed to move forward in life, in love, in living.

RELEASE REVIEW: HELLO FOREVER by Sarina Bowen

A basketball game changed both their lives.

When they were only teenagers, Axel and Caxton were caught making out in the woods at church camp. And afterward, Cax had disappeared from all the youth group activities.

Cax can’t believe his eyes when Axel appears in the same Massachusetts town where he now lives. And he’s still just as drawn to Axel as ever. But he can’t let himself go there again, because loving Axel will mean giving up everything else he holds dear.

Review

How would you live your life, if you could never truly be yourself? If what you truly needed in life was the one thing you couldn’t have because the repercussions would categorically destroy your life more so than living an incomplete life?

For most of his 22 years of life, Cax Williams has had to play a role he can’t quite fulfill by pretending to be a straight man in order to protect his younger brothers from his abusive and bigoted father. The one time he gave into his true desires was when he was 16 years old and the fallout from that decision not only broke Cax’s heart, but it also forced him to cutoff all contact with the boy who had always been his truest friend…the one he could be himself with…the one he gave his heart to on that fateful day but could never voice those words because the risk was too great.

Six and half years later, Axel Armitage makes a life changing decision…a game changer not only for his own life but for the life of the boy who held his heart since they gave into their desires and shared a series of kisses when they were teenagers. And while Axel and Cax’s journey back to one another is frustrating, heartbreaking, and lonely, completely walking away is no longer an option even if it’s the safer and less complicated one.

Hello Forever is a story that will resonate with readers who have ever found themselves pretending to be someone that they’re not because the collateral damage is too much. In some ways, from a bystander’s perspective, Cax’s situation could be seen as his refusal to be an out and proud gay man, but because Sarina Bowen concretely showcases just how much he stands to lose by admitting his sexual preferences, no one can question why he does what he does when it comes to his need to protect his little brothers.

Sarina Bowen does an amazing job of illustrating both men’s frustrations when it comes to Cax’s inability to be with Axel the way they both want to be because of his family complications. Axel may logically understand the whys/hows of what Cax is doing, but because he’s not in Cax’s shoes, he doesn’t truly realize what’s at stake until things occur in the story that shed light on just how much Cax is risking for their stolen moments together.

Cax and Axel’s story shows what people are willing to do and endure for love, and despite the trials that Cax and Axel have to face in order to get their forever, they’re able to do so because it’s clear just how much they mean to each other even before they reconnect as men.

REVIEW BLITZ: Jilted by Sawyer Bennett

Hollywood hath no fury like a woman scorned. In this fun, flirty second-chance romance from New York Times bestselling author Sawyer Bennett, an aspiring starlet reconnects with her first love.

“Sawyer Bennett never fails to deliver heroes I fall hard for and heroines I adore.”—Violet Duke

Eden Goodnight went to Los Angeles to make it big, not to be publicly humiliated by her cheating fiancé at a red-carpet premiere. But when Eden returns to her hometown to put the scandal behind her, she can barely find a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Turns out the locals are worse than the paparazzi, and they all think she’s turned into a spoiled brat. But in a strange twist of fate, the one person who seems to understand what Eden’s going through is Cooper Mayfield . . . the boy she left behind.

Small-town charm is no match for the glitz and glamour of Hollywood. At least that’s what Coop’s been telling himself all these years. As Eden’s old flame—and the landscaper for her family’s historic home—Coop feels some responsibility for getting her out of her funk. But as soon as he sees that million-dollar smile, he’s a goner. Soon they’re making out like teenagers again. But when a life-changing role falls into Eden’s lap, Coop just hopes she doesn’t give up on a love that’s meant to be.

Review

14 years ago, Eden Goodnight gave up her first love and small town living to chase her dreams in Hollywood, trading in her southern charm and cowboy boots for the glitz and glamour of California, and while she’s definitely made a name for herself as a model and an actress, she’s never truly felt at home in LA because she’ll always be a small-town Georgia girl at heart – one who doesn’t completely buy into the kind of lifestyle she’s meant to have as a movie star beauty, especially when her picture perfect life and loving fiancé aren’t anything like she’s led herself and the public to believe.

Cooper Mayfield is the guy Eden left behind all those years ago, and since the day they called it quits, he’s vowed to live his life as a casual dater, never giving his heart to another girl because he’s never fully recovered from losing Eden, and he never wants to put himself in that position again.

But in a twist of fate, Eden finds herself back in Newberry, and that’s when things get interesting because the people of her hometown aren’t really welcoming and her contact with Cooper is definitely a bit too much in your face, turning her childhood home into more of a war zone than a place of comfort and memories.

Lately, I’ve been on a second chance romance reading kick, and Sawyer Bennett’s newest release fits into that category perfectly. Despite the fact that Eden and Cooper don’t know much about the grown up versions of one another, the history they share isn’t something than can remain dormant when they’re constantly placed in each other’s paths, and as much as they both would like to deny that the feelings they once had for one another don’t belong in the present, it’s clear from the very beginning that a fling with a time limit still won’t be able to stop their hearts from becoming a factor in their rebound sexual relationship because they’ve always been each other’s soulmates, which means that this time around, they might be able to get things right, even though they live in very different worlds and aren’t willing to give up the lives they’ve created for themselves even when their hearts want this second chance at their first time love.

Cooper Mayfield is one dirty talking hero, and he definitely has a new set of skills when it comes to the various ways he can manipulate a woman’s body, and while he hasn’t been a saint since he and Eden called it quits, his sinful words and his devilish fingers and cock are only part of the complete package he now brings into this new relationship with Eden.

The way Sawyer Bennett presented Eden’s less than stellar homecoming and the reasons behind it worked well with the story line and in contrasting the 18 year old Eden with the Hollywood princess version that “supposedly” returns to Newberry 14 years later, readers understand what Eden must overcome to feel like she belongs in a town she turned her back on and seemingly never looked back.

The fact that Bennett doesn’t hesitate to illustrate why Newberry citizens dislike her and then offers the truth amidst the hearsay also makes it easier for Cooper to get past what happened between them, focusing on the woman that Eden is now, allowing him to relearn the things about her he’s always loved and combining those traits with the new revelations he learns, both in and outside their physical relationship.

Jilted is the perfect title for Eden and Cooper’s story because they both have had to endure being abandoned by those they love(d). But when a chance to make things right between them despite how different their lives are now as well as the contrasting aspects of LA to Newberry, Eden and Cooper would be completely nuts not to test the waters and figure out if a compromise can be made in order for a first love to finally get it right.

When a work trip takes Jackson back to his old stomping grounds, memories of the year he shared with Lucas come crashing to the surface. About Brooke Blaine

You could say Brooke Blaine was a book-a-holic from the time she knew how to read; she used to tell her mother that curling up with one at 4 a.m. before elementary school was her ‘quiet time.’ Not much has changed except for the espresso I.V. pump she now carries around and the size of her onesie pajamas.

She is the author of Flash Point, a romantic suspense standalone, as well as the co-author of the erotic series, A Desperate Man, with Ella Frank. The latter has scarred her conservative southern family for life, bless their hearts. Licked, a romantic comedy, will be released November 11th, 2015 and is the first in the L.A. Liaisons series.

If you’d like to get in touch with her, she’s easy to find – just keep an ear out for the Rick Astley ringtone that’s dominated her cell phone for ten years.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping that cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

An excerpt from Beautiful Mistake…

The class was completely empty. I wasn’t even sure he knew I was still in my seat. If he did, he was good at ignoring me as he packed up his laptop.

“Contrary to the rumors you’ve probably heard, I don’t bite.”

I jumped when he spoke. Now that the lecture hall was no longer filled with students, the acoustics of the large space bounced his deep voice all over the walls.

I stood and began my walk of shame down to the front of the classroom. There was no doubt I owed the man an apology, even if he wasn’t a professor—a professor who would be my new boss for at least the next fifteen weeks. I wanted to kick myself in the ass for not apologizing last night before I left the bar. Now it would seem like I was only doing it because of the situation I was in.

Which was true, don’t get me wrong, but I didn’t want it to seem that way.

I took a deep breath. “I’m so sorry about last night.”

His face was unreadable. “I figured you might be, right about now.”

“I obviously thought you were someone else.”

“So I assumed. You thought I was the asshole. The one with the big dick, was it?”

I shut my eyes. For the last ninety minutes, I’d replayed the entire exchange from last night over and over in my head. I thought I’d remembered everything I said, but apparently I hadn’t. When I reopened my eyes, Professor West was still watching me. His stare was pretty damn intense.

I started to babble. “My friend Ava went out with this guy Owen for a month or so. He was full of shit from day one, but she didn’t see it. Actually walked up to her when she was leaving work one night and said, ‘Do you mind if I walk you home? My mother always told me to follow my dreams.’ She fell for it, the entire act, from the first day. Then one Saturday, he was supposedly out of town on business, and she was across town running errands for her mother. She took a shortcut through Madison Square Park on her way back from the grocery store and ran into him. He was with his wife and kids.”

“And you thought I was him, apparently?”

I nodded. “She came in during my shift and started drinking Long Island iced teas. When Owen walked in, she pointed to where he was standing and said he was the one in the blue shirt.”

“And we were both wearing blue shirts, I take it?”

I couldn’t help but smile, thinking of Ava last night. “Actually, no. Ava’s not much of a drinker. Turned out she was more sloshed than I thought. Owen’s shirt was brown—not even black that could be mistaken as navy or something.”

I saw Professor West’s lip twitch.

“Anyway, I’m really sorry. I barely gave you a chance to speak, and then when I realized what had happened, I was so mortified I didn’t even stop to apologize.”

“I accept your apology for last night. Even though you shouldn’t be approaching a man in the hallway to tell him off alone, your intentions were admirable.”

I should have shut up and been grateful he’d accepted my apology. Should have. “Why can’t I approach a man in the hallway?”

He leveled me with a stare. “Because you’re five foot nothing in a loud bar, and no one would have heard you if I’d dragged you into the men’s room and locked the door.”

I folded my arms over my chest. “I can take care of myself.”

“I didn’t say you couldn’t. I said you shouldn’t put yourself in those situations.”

“But you insinuated that I couldn’t by making that statement.”

He zipped his leather bag closed. “Ms. Martin, I just accepted your apology for calling me an asshole last night. Would you like me to retract that acceptance?”

God, I really was an idiot. Being around this man seemed to turn me into a psychopath. “No. I’m sorry. I acted like a jerk, and I’d like to start over, if that’s possible.”

He nodded. “Everything prior to this morning is forgotten.”

“Thank you.”

“But this morning is not. I won’t accept lateness. Don’t let it happen again.”

I swallowed. “It won’t.”

He lifted his worn, brown leather laptop bag over one shoulder. “Meet me here at five tomorrow. We’ll go over the syllabus and the classes you’ll teach, as well as my grading rubric.”

That was smack in the middle of my shift, but I’d figure something out. “Okay.”

“Are you done for the day?”

“I am. I actually have to get to work. I’m covering Ava’s shift because she isn’t feeling too well after last night. We both work at O’Leary’s.”

“You waitress there?”

“Waitress, bartend, occasionally tell off patrons.”

That earned me a full smile from Professor West. God, he should do that more often. No, forget that. He definitely shouldn’t.

“I’ll walk out with you.”

We walked through the halls together and out to the parking lot. When we arrived at my car, I stopped. “This is me. So…five o’clock tomorrow?”

Professor West looked at my beat-up old Subaru. “You’re parked in a spot reserved for the Provost. You got a parking ticket.” He squinted. “Actually, it looks like you have two parking tickets. Was your inspection expired or something?”

Crap. “Umm…no. I keep an extra ticket in the glove compartment and stick it on my windshield when I’m forced to park illegally.”

His brows shot up. “Inventive.”

“Obviously it doesn’t always work.”

“Obviously.”

“They need more parking. When you’re late, it’s impossible to find a spot.”

He studied me. “Lateness is a frequent occurrence for you, I take it?”

“Unfortunately, it is.”

“Then I should clarify something I said earlier.”

“Oh, no, that’s not necessary. I won’t be late for your class.”

He took a step closer and leaned in. “I’m glad to hear that, Ms. Martin. But that’s not what needs clarification.”

I swallowed. God, he smells good.

“Earlier I told you I didn’t bite students.” He smiled, and I felt the wickedness from it shoot down to some interesting places. “I don’t. But I make no promises about not biting feisty TAs.”

Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She’s also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn’t do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.

RELEASE REVIEW: THE RED by Tiffany Reisz

The Red marks international bestseller Tiffany Reisz’s return to the erotica shelves. Originally published as a limited edition hardcover for attendees of Shameless Book Con 2016, The Red—an erotic fantasy in the vein of Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty quartet—will finally being be available to the public this summer.

The Red is the naughtiest, most explicit, sexually decadent book I’ve ever written,” Reisz says. “If you’ve read my other books, you know that’s saying something.”

The heroine, Mona Lisa St. James, makes a deathbed promise that she will do anything to save her mother’s art gallery, The Red. Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a handsome stranger makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she submits to him for the period of one year.

Reisz adds: “For years readers have been asking me to write The Red, a novel mentioned in the Original Sinners series written by my erotica-writing dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. Well, readers, be careful what you wish for.”

Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything to save her mother’s art gallery, The Red. Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a handsome stranger makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she submits to him for the period of one year. Surely her mother didn’t mean for Mona to sell herself. Then again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red…

Review

Mona Lisa St. James’ story is the epitome of erotic fantasy; it’s a novella that allows readers to suspend reality and delve into an environment that has elements of pain and pleasure and beauty and truth as well as acts of savagery and chivalry.

It’s a fitting world from the mind of Tiffany Reisz because it’s wickedly delicious and speaks to the nature of true sexual wantonness and only Reisz can write a story where there is a perverse enjoyment to be used like a whore, submitting and succumbing to a being who is both a man and the devil at the same time. And even though Mona questions her sanity, she is neither embarrassed nor ashamed because she’s fulfilling the promise to her dying mother and experiencing sexual pleasure that a fine lady like herself would never experience in her ‘real world’ because it’s meant to only exist in Malcolm’s self-created one – a place where she offers him carte blanche when it comes to the use of her body for his pleasure and wiles…a place where her wantonness and arousal is heightened and the idea of her body being bought for Malcolm’s personal use in any way he sees fit is not only acceptable but desired and ultimately needed.

The Red is an art studio that has limitless possibilities after Mona agrees to Malcolm’s unorthodox deal and as The Red becomes a sexual haven for this makeshift couple, it also proves to be an avenue where the “reality” of the backroom becomes a sanctuary to imitate works of art in all ways of debauchery, illustrating that Malcolm’s degenerate games have a bigger purpose than the one originally intended because once the true nature of who Malcolm is and the reasons behind his need to help to save Mona’s art studio are revealed, his games become a series of puzzle pieces that Mona has to put together and realize their true intent.

Mona and Malcolm are dynamic characters whose true natures are exposed and explored as their story continues and by the time readers reach the conclusion of The Red, they will understand what the endgame is for both characters and how what occurs has been set in motion much earlier than anyone would have recognized.

The Red showcases Reisz’s ability to transport her readers into a sexually charged fantastical setting – one where the taboo idea of being someone’s sexual slave…someone’s property is glorified instead of treated as a reprehensible idea. And as each piece of art is played out in all of its sinfully tantalizing glory, the fantasy becomes one perhaps readers would willingly submit to as well.

Review

Every time I enter J. Kenner’s Stark World, I’m transported into an erotically enticing environment – one that provides readers with multifaceted characters and a plot line rich with intrigue, heart, and emotion.

In Kenner’s newest release, Wicked Grind, she includes all of the components that readers have grown to adore about her stories and adds in a slow burn, second chance romance element that illustrates how difficult it is to break free from parental influence, how easy it is to believe the worst in people when life turns ugly and devastating and the need to prove oneself without using the family name to get ahead.

Wicked Grind alternates between Kelsey Draper and Wyatt Segel’s perspectives, flashing back to their first encounters 12 years ago and providing insight into how one night of adolescent passion…one night of taking risks and losing all self control leads to over a decade of regrets and what might have beens.

Kenner does a fantastic job of contrasting Kelsey and Wyatt’s lifestyles as teens as well as adults – one conforming to her father’s strict mandates because living outside of the box he forces her in has done nothing but hurt those she loves and one who despite his family’s wealth and Hollywood influence wants to be known for his personal accomplishments not gain accolades due to his family name.

As Kelsey and Wyatt reunite in present day, they must deal with the baggage of their past and learn to trust one another again because as much as neither of them want to admit it, they need each other for so much more than just to complete Wyatt’s upcoming show. But in order for both of them to move forward, they need to stop punishing themselves and each other and realize that this time around can be different as long as both Kelsey and Wyatt accept what happened all those years ago and focus on their true feelings for one another, shedding the hurt and anger from the past and preventing anyone from coming between them, whether it be one man’s puritanical beliefs based on a broken heart or a provocative and sensual show that demands Kelsey to bare herself in ways that she’s never done before.

I love how each series in the Stark World has such diverse and intriguing characters and that even though the environment uses some of the same story elements, the way that Kenner utilizes them vary based on the dynamics of her characters and their differing backgrounds as well as the conflict she creates for them to endure.

I do have to say that I felt like the end of Kelsey and Wyatt’s story was a bit rushed. When events caused their relationship to implode and things were in disarray, the way they were dealt with felt a bit incomplete…I wanted more…I needed more because Kelsey’s transformation throughout the story is one of the pivotal conflicts of the story line and I wanted to understand how she evolved and finally became the person…the woman…the dancer that always been lurking under the surface – she just needed the strength and support to free her!

Regardless of feeling a bit underwhelmed by the ending, I truly enjoyed Kelsey and Wyatt’s story. The flashbacks worked well with the present-day story line and they illustrated the reasons behind Kelsey’s abandonment and Wyatt’s bitter feelings towards Kelsey upon reuniting with her 12 years later. Kelsey and Wyatt’s new relationship has a slow burn feel to it, which makes sense considering everything that has happened in the years they’ve been apart and the fact that there are unresolved issues to deal with…both of their reactions and subsequent actions fit the situation and once the truth is revealed, their choices become based on their current attraction and need for each other.

I’m so ready for Lyle’s story in Wicked Dirty!

Excerpt

She was driving him crazy.

The way she held his eyes while she moved, so bold and flirtatious, as if she was just daring him to pull her into his arms and kiss her senseless.

Daring him? No, strike that. She wasn’t just daring him, she was throwing down a goddamned gauntlet. But was she challenging him to claim her? Or was she goading him that he couldn’t have her?

Damned if he knew. Right then, Wyatt was certain of only one thing—his body was tight, his cock was hard, and he wanted to be somewhere other than here. Someplace without other people.

Someplace with a bed.

It was the dancing that did it. Because Kelsey Draper and her dancing had always been his downfall. After all, that was what had started everything all those years ago. He’d seen her dancing to a bouncy pop song, her interpretation elevating the music and lyrics. He’d seen passion and precision, sensuality and seduction. She’d enchanted him. Cast a spell over him.

He’d seen the magic in her, so much larger than the quiet, subdued girl he’d met before. The Kelsey he’d watched dancing had surprised him. She was vibrant. Alive. Unexpected.

He’d fallen hard, and then she’d broken his heart.

He wouldn’t make the same mistake again.

He might want her—hell, he did want her. For his bed. For his show.

But he damn sure wasn’t going to trust her. He’d already learned that lesson, and he really didn’t need a refresher course.

As he watched, she dropped to the floor, then used one hand to rip open her shirt before letting it fall down her arms. She writhed on stage, her seductive movements making him ache inside, all the more when he imagined taking it further. Her wrists bound not with a tattered blouse, but with silk ropes. And not just her wrists, but her legs as well. Red ropes, the only color in an otherwise black and white image. Her body twisting, and the audience unsure if she was fighting the bonds or reveling in her own rising passion.

She was exactly what he needed for the show. The complete package. Hell, he’d known that from the moment she’d walked into his studio.

So why was he hesitating?

Because he wanted her?

Or was it because he wanted to punish her?

Or maybe it was even more insidious than that. Maybe it came down to how much was riding on this show. It was his shot, after all. The apex of all his work and sacrifice. The chance to escape from under the black cloud his father had left hanging over him.

The chance to prove himself to his family.

To live up to the goddamn Segel name.

But that would only happen if the show was a success.

So maybe that was why he was hesitating. Because the moment he committed was the moment the truth crept toward him on little cat paws, and it would either curl up and purr, or rip his heart out.

On stage, Kelsey rose, then did some sort of pirouette, twirling as she pulled off one of those transparent, colored scarves that served as a barely-there skirt. Wyatt imagined his hands on her waist, the brush of her skin against his palms as she spun. He could imagine her heat. The way she shivered under his touch.

So help him, he wanted that. Wanted to hear her sighs. Those little moans he remembered.

Another scarf went flying, and he straightened so that he was no longer leaning against the pillar. Instead, he shifted his weight from foot to foot as he tried to tamp down the rising lust. The violent need. To not only have her, but to have her in his show.

He wanted her, yes. But she was an indulgence he couldn’t justify. An indulgence and a risk, because he knew damn well that she’d run if things got too intense.

And damn but his show was intense. That was the point, after all.

He couldn’t take a chance on her, no matter how much he might want to. Couldn’t even bring her in only long enough to test her out. Not on such a tight schedule. Not when there was no way to ensure that she wouldn’t bolt.

Kelsey was a risk he simply couldn’t take. He had to get it right. There was too much at stake for him to be wrong about her.

The final scarf fluttered to the ground, and Wyatt’s pulse pounded in his throat as he moved closer, his mouth going dry as she reached for her bra, pulled it over her head, then tossed it aside.

The music faded out, and the dim, colored stage lights made the flesh-colored G-string blend into her pale skin, enhancing the illusion that she now stood before the entire room not just topless, but one hundred percent, birthday-suit naked.

She took a bow as the lights came up, and the men in the audience actually stood to applaud her. She’d blown away the competition, and even though Wyatt wanted to rush the stage and wrap his jacket around her, he couldn’t deny the swell of pride he felt for her victory.
