Between boot camp and two TOD’s in Iraq, my buddies Max, Gavin, and me have been through some serious hell. So the last thing I ever expected was to find the biggest challenge of my life back home.

My girlfriend died. I couldn’t even attend her funeral, let alone tell her goodbye or that I’m sorry I wasn’t there like I should’ve been.

But she left me a gift. The best and scariest one I could’ve ever asked for. One I didn’t think I could handle…until the day I saw her tiny blues looking up at me in that airport. Chloe.

Now here I am, raising my baby girl—with the help of my two best friends. Things couldn’t be better. Until she walked into my life.

All I wanted was a nanny. Someone to take care of my girl when I couldn’t. What I didn’t count on was Addison, the brown-eyed temptress with a body of sin, and everything I didn’t need, but suddenly wanted.

EXCERPT REVEAL: SIN by Emma Hart

Damien Fox lived up to his name. Cunning, sly, and dangerous, fifty percent of Vegas’ strip clubs were his.

Whatever he wanted, money, attention, women, he got.

And now he wanted to buy my bar, no matter the cost.

I wanted him to go to hell on a first-class ticket.

He played a dirty game, and I followed his rules. I let him think he would win.

Despite our differences, it was clear to see that we were no more than two broken hearts colliding in the darkness.

Closed off, sexy, and holding a pain that would crush a lesser man, he was the ultimate sin.

One I couldn’t deny myself, even though I knew better than to trust a fox…

(SIN is book one of the Vegas Nights series. Each book in this series is a standalone novel.)

Excerpt

“Why wouldn’t you talk about your work in the restaurant?” I set my purse on the floor by my feet and shifted to face him. “I’ve never seen anyone get out of a dinner so fast.”

A small smile tugged the edge of his lips up. “Just like I said in there, some things shouldn’t be discussed in public.”

“Like politics and religion.”

“You have a very smart mouth.” He glanced down at said smart mouth. “Do you ever turn it off?”

“Never,” I reassured him. “Now, we’re no longer in public, so tell me about what you do.”

He rested an arm along the back of the seats. His fingertips landed just inches from my hair, and I gave a cursory glance at their closeness.

Shivers tickled their way down my spine as he stared at me. He was entirely still except for the way his eyes flicked left and right repeatedly. It felt an awful lot like he was taking me in, committing me to memory for some strange reason.

“A lot of people don’t like me. Pissing people off is part of business, and I’ve done that a lot, so I try to keep my work private. It’s that simple, sweetheart.”

“I get it. But now, it is private.” I wasn’t going to let this drop. I’d quit reading before I did that. “I’ve told you a lot about my bar tonight, so now tell me something.”

“You have the innate ability to make me feel like I’m back in high school and writing an essay about being reasonable.”

“If you’d done that, you might know how to be reasonable.” I paused when he laughed. It was low blow time again. “Look, Mr. Fox—”

“Damien.”

“You don’t have to tell me anything about your business and what you do, but given that you’re failing embarrassingly in your attempt to buy my business, it’s probably in your best interests to start talking.”

He leaned forward and took my hair between his finger and thumb. Slowly, he twirled the strands around his finger, each twist lightly tugging against my scalp. “You should have been a cop. You’re very persuasive.”

“In that case, you could probably learn a thing or two from me. Your own skills are lacking.”

“I don’t know.” He dropped his voice to a low murmur. “I think, if I tried hard enough, I could persuade you into a few things.”

I raised my eyebrows. We’d moved on from talking about business. Once again, the Master of Deflection was doing what he’d been doing for most of our evening together.

“I still haven’t forgiven you for your antics yesterday, so I wouldn’t even try it.” I tapped his hand so he released his hold on my hair. It tumbled away from his finger so I could smooth the strands back down and gave him a pointed look.

“Forgiven me, or yourself?” His eyes glinted knowingly. Almost self-assuredly.

Hell, there was no almost about it. He knew exactly how I’d felt when he’d left me. He knew exactly what he’d done to me, and I did, too. Denying that I was annoyed at myself because I could still remember how it’d felt when he’d taken my chin in his hand was pointless.

“Both,” I answered, sitting up a little straighter. “That doesn’t invite you to exercise poor judgment and make another attempt to mix business with pleasure?”

“Attempt? Sweetheart, if I’d attempted to do that, there would have been a lot less business and a lot more pleasure before I’d left you.”

“You think I’d give in to you so easily?”

At those words, Damien slid smoothly across the leather seats. His arm, still resting along the back of them, hung down behind me, his thumb just brushing against my back. The rest of his body was mere inches from mine, and I bit the inside of my lip as he trailed his fingertips up my bare arm. My eyes followed his feather-light touch while his stayed fixated on my face.

He coasted his fingers over my shoulder where he touched them to my jaw. Lightly, he tilted my face around and up until I had no choice but to look him in the eyes again—to look right there where I could see exactly how much he wanted me.

Dark.

Hot.

Full of temptation.

Heavy and intense, his eyes screamed of raw lust and selfish need.

“I don’t think you’d give in at all,” he whispered. “I think your body would do that for you, and you’d be helpless to it.”

“You think a lot of yourself, don’t you?” I said quietly. I touched my finger to his belt, then ran it up the length of his torso, ghosting it over the solid packs of muscle that made up his body until I flicked the starchy collar of his shirt. “You think you can do this and I’ll give in to what is essentially a biological reaction? I’m stronger than you take me for, you know.”

He curled his fingers around my chin and dipped his face to mine. “She says with a racing heart.”

I pressed one finger against his mouth and ran another along his strong thigh…right up to where his hard cock was straining against the soft material of his pants. “Don’t you hate it when your attraction to someone is so obvious?”

His jaw clenched. “If you have any sense at all inside that gorgeous head of yours, you’ll move your hand.”

Review

Mac’s story is HERE! And, BOY does it live up to the expectations I had after finishing Casey and Grace’s story where Kate McCarthy teased readers a bit with insight into Mac and Jake’s relationship.

Give Me Hell traces the entirety of Mac and Jake’s relationship, illustrating pivotal moments between them and the consequences of a series of life defining incidences – ones that irrevocably changed the dynamics of who Mac and Jake were and how they viewed one another throughout the years spent apart and together.

The start of Princess and Boy Wonder’s connection began when they were teens, forced together due to Mac’s mom’s profession and Jake’s circumstances. From there, an unlikely bond was cemented – one that despite the distance, harsh words, and unforgivable actions never dissipates because Mac and Jake’s love was fated from the beginning; it’s their free will choices, which include too many lies and secrets, that constantly threaten to usurp what their hearts have always wanted since everything between them began to grow.

Mackenzie Valentine is one badass chick. There’s a fire burning inside of her that will never burnout because she refuses to submit to anyone’s dictate but her own. She’s a fighter – one who will readily sacrifice herself for her family and friends because they mean everything to her, even when they try to control and tame her. She is who she is and, at times, she’s quite bitchy, but those who can see through her loud mouth tactics know the determined woman she is and respect her spirit and her heart and allow her the freedom to be herself.

Jake Romero, the original asshead, is Mac’s perfect match because he knows how to handle her, taking control when necessary and allowing her to lead when she’s too much to contend with, and in those circumstances, Jake takes Mac’s back and protects what’s always been his. Jake is an amazing hero because despite his past and some extremely bad decisions, he’s only done things to help and shield those he loves.

Because readers are privy to Mac and Jake’s thoughts and feelings, we’re able to see the whole picture of everything that’s happened since they first met all those years ago. This insight is one that neither of them know or will truly understand until they’re leading separate lives because both sides are missing pivotal information that would paint quite a different picture of the life changing events that Mac and Jake had to endure.

Mac’s siblings and Jake’s bandmates play pivotal roles in their relationship, and while Mac’s brothers seem to do more harm than good, they also take responsibility for their actions, even though it’s after the fact and things between Mac and Jake have already imploded.

Kate McCarthy does a fabulous job of illustrating the evolution of Mac and Jake’s relationship, and while the journey to get Mac and Jake where they’re supposed to be by the time their story ends takes her readers through hell and back, we wouldn’t have wanted it to happen any other way because it’s exactly what made them who they are, and I, for one, wouldn’t change it regardless of the heartache and emotional torment because that’s what makes a relationship and a story worthwhile.

Excerpt

With a low chuckle I roll over on my bed to eyeball the stolen file that I’d slapped on my bedside table last night before crashing. I’m feeling rather pleased with myself until my gaze encounters Jake. My gleeful chortle dies a quick death.

He’s leaning against my bedroom wall, bare-chested, arms folded, and wearing nothing but a pair of black boxer-briefs and a furious glare.

My gaze drops to the bed where Jake has laid out the black beanie used to cover my pale hair, and the black leather gloves that kept my fingerprints from any surface I came in contact with.

Fuck. The sun is streaming in through the blinds and I know it must be late morning already. Clearly I’d forgotten to set the morning alarm. A rookie mistake. And now I need to get past the gauntlet that is Jake and somehow get the file to Casey before he enacts his own plan to retrieve it.

My eyes flick up, meeting his. “Morning,” I say coolly.

His jaw ticks. “Care to explain?”

Jake’s car keys rest on top of the report file and I know he’s seen them. Not only had I performed a break and enter last night, I had also added car theft to my criminal repertoire. Explaining that will likely cause my untimely death. I pretend to consider his question for a moment. “Not really.”

Jake pushes off from the wall and moves toward the bed, bringing him closer. “Well you’re going to.”

“No,” I say, casually sliding across the mattress and away from Jake. “Not today. I have things to—”

Putting one knee on the bed, Jake leans across and grabs the back of my long-sleeved shirt in his fist. He yanks and the distinct sound of a riiipppppp renders the air.

“My shirt,” I gasp as I fly through the air, landing on my back on the mattress with a hard bounce.

“I don’t give a rat’s fucking ass about your shirt,” he growls, straddling my body.

His hard thighs trap me in place and his hands pin mine to the bed. Moving will likely end with a cracked rib.

Jake leans his face down until I can’t look anywhere but in his eyes. “You can start with why you’re dressed like a thieving little bandit.”

“Because I stole your car.”

“Why did you steal my car?”

“Because I couldn’t get a cab.”

I actually considered calling for a taxi but then my movements would be on public record, easily placing me at the scene. I’d had to rule it out.

“Stop leading me in circles, Princess, and spit it the fuck out. What did you do?

I huff deeply, letting my frustration out. Jake isn’t going to just let this go. It leaves me with two choices. Lie or be honest. I chose door number two, because while I sometimes keep things from Jake, he doesn’t deserve outright deceit.

I spill out my early hours adventure, rethinking my choice of honesty as he sits back on the bed, his fury a slow-building thunderstorm.

There’s silence for a tense moment when I finish speaking.

“You committed a felony,” he says in a soft voice. I’m not fooled by the tone. His anger is a barely leashed lion. “And you used my car to do it.”

My lips press in a thin line. I hadn’t thought that particular implication through, and now I’m angry at myself. “I’m sorry.”

His expression narrows to one of vengeful retribution. “Oh you’ll be sorry.”

“I will?”

“When I paddle your fucking ass.”

“Jake—”

“Shut it,” he growls, his voice rising. “You broke into a detective’s house. You stole her property. You—”

“Casey’s property,” I mutter.

“Don’t interrupt me when I’m explaining your stupidity to you.”

DOUBLE COVER REVEAL: DIRTY LITTLE SECRET AND DIRTY LITTLE PROMISE by Kendall Ryan

We are excited to bring you the two upcoming covers for the new FORBIDDEN DESIRES series from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Kendall Ryan.

DIRTY LITTLE SECRET and DIRTY LITTLE PROMISE are written in the same vein as the much loved international phenomenon, Filthy Beautiful Lies.

The deeper I fall into his world, the more I crave him like a drug—he pushes every boundary I have, and challenges everything I thought I wanted. I want to unlock his heart. I want his dirty secrets.

But in the end, will he be the blade that cuts me … or the bond that makes my life complete?

But something dark inside of Gavin called to something dark inside of me. And I wasn’t willing to just walk away—not yet anyway.

This is the conclusion to Emma Bell’s epic love affair with the alpha and enigmatic Kingsley brothers. Secrets will be exposed, sides will be chosen, and nothing will ever be the same.

RELEASE DAY BLITZ: REVIEW AND GIVEAWAY: Checkmate: This is Dangerous by Kennedy Fox

Title: Checkmate: This is Dangerous
Series: Checkmate Duet Series (Logan & Kayla, #1)
Author: Kennedy Fox
Designer & Photographer: Sara Eirew
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Trope: Second-Chance Romance
Release Date: July 6, 2017
Goodreads: http://bit.ly/2opDUMz

Introducing book 1 in the Logan & Kayla saga of the Checkmate series from a secret duo of romance authors who teamed up under the USA Today Bestselling pseudonym, Kennedy Fox! This second-chance romance will have you gasping and cheering this two on from the first to the last page! Are you ready to play the final game?

***

Logan Knight is a real life knight in shining armor.
A detective godsend in a sleek black suit has me thinking less than secretive thoughts. Brooding and mysterious, he’s the kind of guy every girl instantly notices. Between his seductive smirk and charming good looks, it’s no wonder I can’t help the way he makes me feel whenever I’m near him.
Too bad he’s unavailable—or so he says.

He thinks I’m a do-gooder who shouldn’t get involved with a guy like him. His past is messy and relationships just add to that. He insists the timing is all wrong and he’s devoted to his career, but I don’t buy that excuse for a second. I see the way his body tenses and his jaw ticks every time another guy is around me. He just won’t admit it, but I’m more determined than ever to show him what he’s missing.

I’m a devoted animal rescuer and I’ll risk everything to save them, but when a dramatic turn of events puts both our lives at risk, I’m positive Logan will write me off for good. But when he asks for my help with a personal crisis, I know it’s my last chance to finally show him I can handle anything he throws my way—messy past and all.

He might think he has me all figured out, but I’ll prove him wrong no matter what he thinks. This game of push and pull has me running in circles. One wrong move and we could both lose.

Checkmate, Knight.

*Recommend for ages 18+ due to sexual content and adult language.*

**This is book 1 in the Logan & Kayla Saga–a second-chance romance. You don’t need to read any of the other Checkmate series to enjoy this one, but is always recommended as they are both introduced in the earlier books.**

Checkmate: This is Dangerous is the perfect title for the first book in Logan Knight and Kayla Sinclair’s duet; the push and pull between them is definitely challenging to not only their hearts but their bodies and minds as well, and in any game/challenge with two worthy adversaries, each maneuver is consciously thought out…each attempt to gain the upper hand comes with its own agenda and because the opponents withhold information, the end result remains unclear up until the point one of them concedes or they reach a stalemate, forcing them to choose once and for all if the struggle and fear is worth it or if it’s still too dangerous to go all in, perhaps losing a chance to win everything they’ve always wanted and needed.

Opponent #1: Logan Knight is everything that his last name infers; he’s protective and caring…he has a big heart and would willingly risk his life to protect those he loves, but he’s also broody and mysterious, only stating, without further explanation, that he has too much baggage and too many complications to start a relationship with Kayla, even if the way he acts towards her speaks otherwise. His reality is not a place he wants Kayla to be because it’s messy and out of his control at times.

Opponent #2: Kayla Sinclair is a genuine and compassionate person – one who gives her time and her assistance to people and animals in need. As a foster child who was never adopted, she yearns for security…for someone who can give her a loving home and a loving relationship, and the man who she knows can do that for her is Logan Knight, even if he won’t admit it because he’s not quite ready to let down his walls and let a woman into his heart a second time.

Kennedy Fox has only begun to scratch the surface when it comes to Logan and Kayla as individuals and as a couple. There are still things they don’t know about each other, which means there are still obstacles to overcome. There’s a risk in allowing people’s feelings to control their actions, and while Logan and Kayla have had to combat a few misunderstandings and evasive maneuvers at the end of This is Dangerous, readers are made aware that there is more work to be done, more truths to reveal, and more changes headed Logan and Kayla’s way before they’ll truly know if what they’re building is strong enough to endure anything.

Logan and Kayla’s story is my first book by Kennedy Fox; I enjoyed the writing as well as the main and supporting characters and their development. I’m eager for This is Beautiful; I’m not sure where Fox will lead Logan and Kayla’s relationship because there are a lot of unanswered questions and the plot line is just beginning to build its main conflict, which means moving from dangerous to beautiful is going to prove to be quite the battle, but hopefully with Logan’s knight in shining armor demeanor and Kayla’s half full attitude, the couple will get to the beauty of who they are together before the danger drags them under for good.

Blurb

Emmett Hill is the perfect gentleman.

At least that’s what his PR team wants the world to think.

Tall, handsome, and wickedly charming, Emmett is in the midst of a career comeback, having landed the role of a villain in a popular TV show. The only problem is, Emmett has come a long way from the “nice guy” characters he used to play and his old squeaky clean image is quickly being tarnished by bar fights, womanizing and bad boy behaviour. Considering he’s two years shy of forty, it’s an act he needs to drop. And fast.

Enter Alyssa Martin.

At twenty-eight, Alyssa is tired and ready for a change. Her job as office manager has grown stagnant and unfulfilling, while she’s become continuously frustrated with Vancouver’s lackluster dating scene, always searching for Mr. Right in a city of Mr. Wrongs.

When Emmett and Alyssa’s paths cross at a mutual friend’s wedding, their chemistry is off-the-charts hot, culminating in a steamy one-night stand.

What neither expected was for the media catch wind of their coupling – and run with it.

Now Emmett has to convince Alyssa to date him for the sake of his image. Her curvy, cute and “normal” persona is just the ticket to smoothing out his reputation, while Emmett provides Alyssa with the excitement and change her life has been lacking.

The only problem is, the two fight like cats and dogs outside of the bedroom.

And considering their arrangement is just for show, they shouldn’t be in the bedroom with each other anyway.

Right?

Try telling them that.

AFTER ALL features characters from Before I Ever Met You, however it is not part of any series and can be read as a standalone 🎀

Review

The Bruiser and the Blonde…

That title has the making of a reality tv show or a half hour romantic comedy…

It in no way, though, sounds like an actual couple – a pairing of two people who have feelings for one another and are willing to work together to make a go at a solid relationship…unless they want social media to believe certain ideas about them – ones that are bound to complicate their lives in significant ways.

AND that’s what Emmett Hill and his publicist want the media and the public to believe when it comes to his one night stand with Alyssa Martin; in fact, it’s what Emmett’s banking on to shine a positive light on both his personal and professional life instead of his bad boy behavior and manwhore ways.

I’ve read quite a few books where the story line consists of a fake relationship, and there’s always that moment where both parties question if it’s more than pretend…if the feelings they have for one another could possibly lead to a real connection – one that goes beyond what each of them seems to be getting out of the contracted relationship, and contrary to what both Emmett and Alyssa say to one another and their friends, they can’t fake the kind of passion they share or the sexual chemistry that’s between them. There’s a primal need for one another that’s about more than sex…they seem to “get” each other in ways that no one else does. Alyssa sees beneath Emmett’s cocky and suave facade and understands that he’s battling himself as much as the bad press he receives every time he acts out in a negative way. Emmett likes Alyssa’s prickly side and the fact that she may not like him as much as she loves to fight with him and have extraordinary sex, and he accepts her cynical and honest attitude; in fact, it helps him to not think so highly of himself and vow to be better and be happier, doing what he loves not what’s expected of him.

The dynamics of Emmett and Alyssa’s relationship seem to be in a constant state of flux…they had one night together, which both accepted, but now that they’ve become tabloid fodder, everything about what they mean to one another is manipulated and distorted in a way that blurs the line between fake and real, forcing both of them to figure out what exactly they want from each other, perhaps even determining if the passion between them is a part of their performance or a way to prove to themselves that what started as a relationship to keep up appearances has turned into something real and worthwhile.

In After All, Karina Halle humanizes who a celebrity is and the shadows that exist beyond the fame and perks of being in the limelight. Emmett Hill may be a successful actor striving for a comeback, proving to himself and to the public that he’s not the washed up asshole he frequently portrays, but he’s so much more than a set of perceptions and misconceptions; he’s a human being with flaws, fears, and a past that has shaped him in ways that the media can’t even begin to understand, which is why having Emmett’s perspective tied in with Alyssa’s views allows readers to see both of them as the unique individuals they are – a sum of all of their personality traits and actions, not just those that are caught on video.

Respect or fame?

Real or fake?

Passion or performance?

These are the questions that Emmett and Alyssa struggle with throughout the story, and their answers will not only decide how Emmett’s career moves forward but they will also determine who Emmett and Alyssa end up meaning to each other when Alyssa’s contract expires.

Blurb

Mona Lisa St. James made a deathbed promise that she would do anything to save her mother’s art gallery, The Red. Just as she realizes she has no choice but to sell it, a handsome stranger makes her an offer: He will save The Red if she submits to him for the period of one year. Surely her mother didn’t mean for Mona to sell herself. Then again, she did promise to do anything to save The Red…

Excerpt

Mona heard the door opening.

She lifted her head. Malcolm stood in the doorway in his three-piece suit.

“Ahh…” he breathed. “My Olympia.”

Mona didn’t know what to say, so she said nothing. Malcolm didn’t seem to mind her silence. He came to the bed and sat beside her. She sat propped up on her pillow and frozen on the sheets, shivering.

“You look so lovely,” he said softly, his gaze grazing her naked body from face to feet and up again. “I’ll enjoy you tonight.”

“I’m nervous,” she said.

“Of course you are. I wouldn’t want or expect anything else.”

“You want me to be nervous?”

“Very much. It will make the triumph all the sweeter. I love the challenge of overcoming reluctance.” He bent and kissed her chest over her racing heart. Then he stood and walked to the end of the bed where he proceeded to undress. First the suit jacket came off, then the vest. He unfastened his buttons with agile fingers. He didn’t make a production of undressing, and yet she couldn’t take her eyes off him as he peeled out of his shirt to reveal strong sculpted biceps, a flat hard stomach, and a broad chest. The shoes were next and then the trousers. Her eyes widened at the first glimpse of his cock, already erect and glistening at the tip. She watched it as he walked back to her, taking in its impressive size and even more impressive girth. She would need to be very wet to enjoy that inside of her.

“You’re pleased with me?” he asked and she sensed the question wasn’t a question at all. A statement of fact. He knew she was. He simply wanted her to admit it.

“I am. Although…”

“I’ll take care of everything,” he said. “I haven’t lost a woman to it yet.”

She laughed and it helped ease her fears. He sat on the bed again at her side. He touched the side of her face, caressed her cheekbone, pushed her bangs to the side and kissed her forehead.

“I’m so pleased you’ve agreed to this,” he said. “Very pleased. It’s been a long time.” “For me too.”

“Then we’ll both enjoy this.”

“Although it’s for you, isn’t it?” she asked.

“What do you mean?”

“I mean, you’re paying for me. You can do what you want. It doesn’t matter if I enjoy it or not.”

“I do hope you’ll enjoy it,” he said. “But it’s not a requirement. In general, however, your pleasure gives me pleasure. Not everything I do will be physically pleasurable for you, however. For me, yes, but not for you. That was the nature of our agreement, yes?”

“Yes,” she said, nodding.

“There’s still time to change your mind. I don’t force women. It would be beneath even such a man as myself.”

She shook her head. “I want to do it.”

“Even if you don’t enjoy the sex—and you will—you’ll certainly enjoy the money.”

COVER REVEAL: BEARD IN MIND by Penny Reid

19622673_1768814093147953_310280936_n

Beard in Mind, an all new standalone in the bestselling, romantic comedy Winston Brothers Series by Penny Reid, is coming August 1st!

 BIM-cover (2)

All is fair in love and auto maintenance.

Beau Winston is the nicest, most accommodating guy in the world. Usually.

Handsome as the devil and twice as charismatic, Beau lives a charmed life as everyone’s favorite Winston Brother. But since his twin decided to leave town, and his other brother hired a stunning human-porcupine hybrid as a replacement mechanic for their auto shop, Beau Winston’s charmed life has gone to hell in a handbasket.

Shelly Sullivan is not nice and is never accommodating. Ever.

She mumbles to herself, but won’t respond when asked a question. She glares at everyone, especially babies. She won’t shake hands with or touch another person, but has no problems cuddling with a dog. And her damn parrot speaks only in curse words.

Beau wants her gone. He wants her out of his auto shop, out of Tennessee, and out of his life.

The only problem is, learning why this porcupine wears her coat of spikes opens a Pandora’s box of complexity—exquisite, tempting, heartbreaking complexity—and Beau Winston soon discovers being nice and accommodating might mean losing what matters most.
