Review

A war isn’t won in a day; in fact, when war is waged, there are ups and downs, starts and stops, and forward and backward movements.

Fighting a war when the enemy is a fucked up mindset with extreme amounts of baggage and self-loathing may not allow even a whole arsenal of weapons to obtain a victory, but that doesn’t mean the white flag needs to be raised…it just means different maneuvers have to be executed and implemented in a way that breaks down the impenetrable barriers and has the ability to offer counter moves when the enemy retreats, withdraws, and even leaves the battlefield.

If there’s one characteristic that Evangeline Brooks seems to have in spades, it’s the fact that she’s a fighter. As a Domme, she understands the type of control and strength that’s needed to wield a whip or a crop, and she also knows how to read situations and proceed with the required actions. And, even though the aftermath of the incident with her ex-sub, Kevin, redefined her life in a number of ways for the past year or so, the fact that she re-enters the lifestyle with a sub as challenging as Branch Dillinger seems to be from their very first encounter, unequivocally proves the type of kickass Domme Evangeline is as well as the fact that there is no way in hell she’ll allow Branch to completely evade her attempts at claiming something other than his cock, his ass, and his body without putting up one heck of a fight.

From the start of their play, Branch’s guard is up, which isn’t anything new since it’s been that way ever since his life went to shit and he became nothing more than a dead man living in the shadows. He’s upfront with Evangeline about what they will have and what they will not and he’s honest about the fact that he will walk away from what they share simply because he can’t be someone he’s not nor will he allow himself to be something more than he already is. Branch refuses to take the steps to heal himself because he believes he’s the problem…that his sins are too great and that allowing himself to actually have a life dishonors those who gave up theirs…those who no longer have what they should have had because it was taken away too easily.

If you’re an avid Kristen Ashley reader, you know that she creates diverse and multifaceted characters…those who have an array of attributes that both help and hinder the events that take place in their storyline. Evangeline and Branch are complex characters whose layers are slowly revealed throughout the course of The Farthest Edge. And, even though Evangeline is a what you see is what you get woman, the way she approaches life and understands what’s at stake when she starts things up with Branch makes her a highly dynamic character – one who adjusts to change with ease and who works around issues in order to acquire the outcomes she desires.

I don’t think readers truly get to the depth of Branch even at the end of their story, and I think that’s deliberate on Ashley’s part because if he’s not going to give Evangeline everything about his past then readers don’t deserve it either. But it does help that other characters play a role in unveiling the truth of Branch’s past and what it has cost him, and the advice that’s offered to Evangeline through those different avenues allows her to approach her battle with Branch in ways that he won’t see coming and ways that will make him heal even when he wouldn’t choose to do so on his own.

Evangeline and Branch’s relationship is a work-in-progress throughout the course of The Farthest Edge and as she brings him to that edge, preparing to take him over and provide a soft landing not for just his body but for his heart and soul as well, she does so knowing she may lose not only what they have but what she’s always hoped she’d get. But the victory will be worth the pain it takes to get there as long as when everything is said and done her big boy is willing to not just play but to live as well.

The world Kristen Ashley constructs in her Honey series is one that will push readers to the edge because it forces them to truly understand the Domme/alpha-sub relationship and acknowledge that the men who submit to their Mistresses are not masochists – at least not completely or pansies who willingly give up control in all facets of their lives; they are men who know what they need to get off and to free themselves from the metaphorical bonds that drag them down and won’t let go until they’ve submitted to a power that can help release them from the chains that confine them. It’s an enticing environment that Ashley creates, and even though it forces readers to step a bit out of their comfort zones with the kind of play that is illustrated throughout Evangeline and Branch’s play, it also clearly showcases just how sensual and beautiful that kind of relationship can be when a Domme and sub find a connection that they never want to surrender.

Excerpt

She drove into the Honey, seeing the parking lot empty except for Aryas’s black Cayenne and a black GMC SUV, feeling that hunger grow.

Right.

Fine.

Fun and done.

All good.

She grabbed the handles of her small bag before she opened the door and threw her leg out.

As instructed (by Aryas), she parked close to and approached the back door to the club.

As expected, it was open.

She moved through the halls, keeping centered and focused so as not to have any kind of freakout that the last time she was there, she’d been carried out by Aryas, beaten to hell and not giving a damn.

Because she might have been beaten to hell.

But the worst of it was, her heart had been broken.

She walked directly to Aryas’s playroom, known as the red room since it was decorated in reds, and the opaque shades that could be drawn down over the wall of windows to black out what was inside were the only shades in any of the rooms that weren’t black, they were red.

As she approached, she saw the red shades were drawn down.

She kept her gait steady.

It had been a year and the last scene she’d had was a bad one. She’d been assaulted at the same time she’d had a relationship end very, very badly with a man she’d thought she’d loved and was considering spending the rest of her life with.

That happened.

This was now.

It was just a look-over anyway. It might be she wouldn’t like what she saw. Or he wouldn’t. And then giving any headspace to worrying what came after that was just a waste.

She was a Domme.

She’d trained under Mistress Sixxand Mistress Amélie, the two finest Dommes Evangeline had ever had the honor to see at play.

And before Kevin, even if she’d only been in her late twenties, she was one of the most sought-after Dommes at the Honey.

Now she was just thirty years old and she made good money. She took care of herself. She was successful. Educated. She wasn’t hard to look at. She had her own style in looks, clothes (and play) that she was honing to perfection.

She could do this.

She totally could do this.

She opened the door, stepped in and saw him.

Oh my.

She was so totally going to do this.

She closed the door behind her, dropped her bag and stood right where she was.

Aryas’s red room, known as his because this was mostly where he took his slaves, looked more like an opulent boudoir. Plush. Sumptuous. Heavy, carved furniture. Big, posted bed dressed in red and topped at headboard and ceiling with mirrors. Candelabrums everywhere.

No candles had been lit right then. The scene was not set, only red-shaded table lamps here and there were illuminating the space.

It still gave it a feel.

And that feel was good.

But more, the man before her was amazing.

About Kristen Ashley

Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA and nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorize and she hadn’t taken her first breath!). Her mother said they took Kristen away, put her Mom back in her room, her mother looked out the window, and Gary was on fire (Dr. King had been assassinated four days before). Kristen’s Mom remembered thinking it was the end of the world. Quite the dramatic beginning.

Nothing’s changed.

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana and has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus, she’s blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her family was (is) loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write. They all lived together on a very small farm in a small farm town in the heartland. She grew up with Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing, it keeps getting better.

Excerpt

Jerico

For three nights, I’ve watched her.

By any definition, I’d totally be considered a stalker.

But from the comfort of my office, I can pull up the security feeds on my monitor and take note of the subtle changes in Trista as she works the condiment tray. Truth be told, I don’t need her working that job and have a much greater need for her to go back to cleaning, but fuck if she doesn’t look a hell of a lot sexier in a thong than a turtleneck and pants.

Part of my training in the military was gathering intelligence, so I can pick up on the slightest of details that could tell me a very important story, and there were a lot of changes I noticed over the last three days with Trista as she settled into her job routine.

The most important and pleasing thing was that Trista’s stopped hiding her sexual curiosity. When she first started working here, she looked around a room in a vague way, not taking in too many details. I think she was afraid to watch.

Afraid of what it would do to her body.

But that has definitely changed.

Now, Trista watches what the patrons are doing. Sometimes, she stares for long moments and much to my delight, the kinkier the acts, the longer she stares. My trained eyes take in her chest rising and falling to keep up with what I’m sure was a racing pulse. She’d adjust the straps covering her breasts in a very minute way either because the pressure on her nipples was too much, or because she wanted to create some friction.

Naughty, naughty girl.

My favorite though was when she would cross one long leg over the other and squeeze her thighs together as she watched, and I had no doubt her clit was probably pulsing with desire.

Trista was getting braver too. She never once took any man up on an offer to join, and there had been some I’d seen. I had told her she could if business was slow, but I also made a spectacle in front of Willis that she was off limits. Perhaps Trista thinks she’s off limits to everyone, and it’s fine by me if she wants to think that.

BLOG TOUR: REVIEW AND EXCERPT: Dating-ish by Penny Reid

DATING ISH BLOG TOUR BANNER

Dating-ish, an all new standalone from the USA Today bestselling Knitting in the City romantic comedy series by Penny Reid is available now!

20170306 Dating ish 01 (2)

‘Dating-ish’ can be read as a standalone, is a full length 100k word novel, and is book #6 in the Knitting in the City Series.

There are three things you need to know about Marie Harris: 1) She’s fed up with online dating, 2) She’s so fed up, she’s willing to forego the annoyance and consider more creative alternatives, and 3) She knows how to knit.

After the most bizarre and irritating first date in the history of humankind, Marie is looking for an alternative to men. With the help of her friends, she quickly identifies a few possibilities:

Need a cuddle? Use a professional cuddler. Need affirmation? Get yourself a life coach. Need an orgasm? Try orgasm meditation! Why does she need the hassle of a romantic partner when she can meet all her needs with paid services?

But then her irritating date resurfaces. And he’s not at all the person she thought he was. And he suggests a different–and crazier–solution to her dilemma . . .

As everyone knows (or will soon come to realize), traditional relations between humans are a thing of the past. Robots are our future. And if robots are our future, then why do we need other people at all?

Excerpt

He was quiet for bit, we both were, and I felt myself relax more and more. His palm took a detour every so often, dutifully skipping my hip and sliding along my side, and then back to my leg. Soon, I was so relaxed I felt drowsy.

I felt fingers in my hair, moving the mass away from my neck with treasuring strokes just before Matt nuzzled the back of my neck, causing goosebumps to scatter over my skin.

“Mmm.” I smiled. “Hey. Jared said no tickling.” My voice sounded sleepy.

“Does this tickle?” Matt asked softly, nuzzling me again. I felt the brush of his lips—not a kiss, a brush—paired with hot breath against the bare skin of my neck and a zing shot straight down my spine, making my toes curl and a sudden hot ache twist in my lower belly.

Oh no.

I knew that ache. I hadn’t felt it because of another person’s touch in quite a long time. Nevertheless, no one ever forgets that ache.

My back arched instinctively, my bottom pressing back against his crotch, and I stiffened. I felt my nipples harden, strain beneath the cotton of my bra. I was now fully awake. No longer drowsy.

Nope.

Not even a little.

Matt stiffened, too. His movements abruptly ceasing.

“Are you okay? What’s wrong?” he asked, alarm coating his words, and in the next moment his hand was suspended in the air above me. “Did I touch something I shouldn’t?”

I exhaled a short, nervous laugh, gripped by the urge to sit up.

“No. No. You didn’t.” I moved to the edge of the bed, righting myself, away from Matt, needing distance. “I’m good.” I gathered a silent breath and released it slowly because my pulse was racing.

Crap, Marie. Get a grip. It’s Matt Simmons. Professor Matt. The big kid. Why are you reacting this way?

“Did I . . .” These initial words were hesitant, and a moment of silence stretched before he continued, his tone comically teasing as he finished his thought. “Did I arouse you?”

I snorted, shaking my head, laughing at his silly tone. Turning at the waist to peer at him over my shoulder, Matt was grinning at me, twisting a make-believe mustache between his thumb and forefinger.

But then he stopped.

“I did, didn’t I?” he pushed, his hand dropping. He looked pleased, if not a little amazed.

I sighed, feeling a smidge embarrassed, and nodded. “Actually, yes. That’s a sensitive spot for most women.”

“The back of your neck?” He lifted himself to one elbow, his eyes darting to my neck with keen interest.

“My neck in general, actually.”

“Huh.” Matt frowned thoughtfully. “Where else?”

I pressed my lips together and gave him an incredulous look. “I’m not telling you that.”

“Why not?”

“Matt.”

“What if I needed it for research reasons?”

“Matt.”

“What if I told you it was part of our questionnaire?” He tossed his legs over the side of the bed and stood, walking around to my side and offering me his hand. “You should give me a schematic of your body with the erogenous zones circled and rated.”

“Let me guess, you want them rated on a ten-point scale,” I deadpanned as I accepted his hand, stood, and stepped away to gain some distance and straighten my shirt.

He shrugged, crossing his arms, stalking after me. “Or exponential. I was going to say a Likert scale, but a logarithmic scale works, too.”

Chuckling, appreciative of his attempt to diffuse my embarrassment and awkwardness with the joke, I realized Matt Simmons wasn’t a bad guy. He might even be a good guy, just a little . . . peculiar.

And wants to replace romantic relationships with robots. Best not forget that detail.

Yeah, he’d make an interesting friend.

“Thanks.” I gave him a small smile.

“For what?” His eyes moved between mine.

“For the cuddle. Thanks for the cuddle, Matt.”

“Anytime, Marie.” He grinned down at me, his eyes dancing as he leaned forward and whispered, “Anytime.”

Review

Once again, I bow down to Penny Reid’s writing and her ability to craft a story that exudes intelligence as well as an attention to detail that perfectly illustrates the complexity of her characters, their way of thinking, and the reality of living in the age that we do with all of its scientific and technological advances.

Every time I read one of Reid’s Knitting in the City books, I become an honorary member of the knitting club, which allows me an in-depth understanding of who each woman and her significant other are as well as comprehensive insight into how far this group of girlfriends is willing to go to protect and nurture each other in all aspects of their lives.

Since the beginning of the series, I’ve always seen Janie as my spirit character…I connect with the nuisances of her personality as well as the black and white way she looks at the world. But, now that Penny Reid’s allowed me insight into how Marie thinks and rationalizes information, I’m torn between the two characters, but find that Marie’s Hufflepuff tendencies define my temperament as well.

Marie and Matt are multi-faceted characters who CANNOT be taken at face value because there’s a depth to them that isn’t freely shown. A connection has to be formed and nourished in a way that allows for a clearer understanding of who each one of them is and why they are the way that they are. And, while Marie and Matt’s first interaction was under false pretenses, they’re both intrigued by the other and driven to build at least a friendship due to how easy it becomes to spend time together and explore and analyze Matt’s scientific work as well as Marie’s investigative reporting on subjects closely aligned to Matt’s pursuits.

Like most of Reid’s other stories, Dating-ish is a SLOW burn…in fact, in some ways, it’s progress is torturously slow because it’s clear to readers that there’s a bond between Marie and Matt that is just waiting to be explored, but there are self-imposed barriers preventing their relationship to progress, and while the anticipation and sexual tension keeps readers’ attention, it’s also frustrating for Marie and readers alike because Matt’s clearly the one with more hang ups and those limits he’s placed on himself when it comes to personal relationships are ones that continually send Marie’s hopes plummeting as well as springing to life, which makes her feel both unique as well as unoriginal.

This “humanoid romance” is Penny Reid at her finest…I already knew she had a way with words and an uncanny ability to construct relatable and realistic characters, but Dating-ish also demonstrates Reid’s intelligence in its own right. The way that she presents artificial intelligence, the ideas behind it, and where it’s headed as well as the ways that contemporary society is trying to offer an array of options for its citizens when it comes to both platonic as well as sexual interactions is meticulously detailed but also generic enough that all readers can understand, in layman’s terms, where things are headed when it comes to mankind’s need for specific types of relationships.

I’m definitely a Penny Reid fan girl, and I anxiously wait for her next release!

REVIEW AND EXCERPT TOUR: HOLD ME by J.Kenner

My life with Damien has never been fuller. Every day is a miracle, and every night I lose myself in the oasis of his arms.

But there are new challenges, too. Our families. Our careers. And new responsibilities that test us with unrelenting, unexpected trials.

I know we will survive—we have to. Because I cannot live without Damien by my side. But sometimes the darkness seems overwhelming, and I am terrified that the day will come when Damien cannot bring the light. And I will have to find the strength inside myself to find my way back into his arms.

Review

J. Kenner can NEVER stop writing about Damien and Nikki Stark’s life because every glimpse, regardless of how big or small, into their lives  exemplifies just how dynamic of a couple they are and how magnetic their connection is as well as how their passion for love and life drives their personal and professional lives.

In Hold Me, it’s all about balance…about finding what works best for Nikki and Damien’s life and following through with their own plan without feeling inferior or defeated simply because they veered from their path a bit to live life on their own terms…not anyone else’s.

Juggling being a business woman, a mother, and a wife is not an easy feat; in fact, many women feel incapable, which then makes her begin to doubt her abilities to keep all parts of her life afloat while giving equal parts of herself to those who depend on her. And, the fact that someone as driven and independent as Nikki Stark finds herself exhausted and overwhelmed with the prospect of returning to work full-time and missing any of her sweet baby girls’ “firsts” drives home the fact that it’s okay to take a step back, determine what’s most important for her and her family, and become who she needs to be for her family but also for herself.

Damien and Nikki Stark are incredibly lucky, and they don’t take any part of their lives for granted because they’ve been through too much already to feel any less than humbled by what they get to experience every day.

In Hold Me, Damien continues to be Nikki’s rock, comforting her and giving her everything she needs with both his kindness and his filthiness; she’s stronger because he’s by her side, refusing to let her down, protecting their future the best they can. They are partners in every sense of the word, and I can’t wait to see where J. Kenner takes this power couple next!

Excerpt

I already know that Damien is running later than I am, because he’d called while I was stuck in traffic. Now I dismiss Bree for the night, then go peek in on both my girls. I want to wake them, to cuddle them close, but I let them sleep, contenting myself with watching the steady rise and fall of their little chests.

Then I take a quick shower, change into yoga pants and a T-shirt, and stretch out on our lovely iron bed, surrounded by paperwork.

That’s where I am when Damien finds me—although I’m asleep instead of busily working.

“Hey,” he says, brushing a kiss on my shoulder. “Long day?”

As I claw my way back to consciousness, he gathers my papers and sets them on the bedside table. There’s a glass of wine, too, and he hands it to me. I try to avoid alcohol since I’m breastfeeding, but I also did the research and know that a little bit isn’t a problem so long as I wait to pump or feed Anne.

“The longest,” I say, then take a grateful sip. I lean sideways against him, my back supported by the pile of pillows that rest against the wall. I give him the full rundown, the highlight of which is Eric’s surprising departure.

“You can handle continued growth,” he says, his loyalty giving me a nice warm boost of confidence. “But you’re also well-positioned to simply hold the line if that’s what you want to do. Even to downsize if it works out that way.”

I push away from him, frowning as my chest tightens uncomfortably. “What?”

“I’m just saying that you don’t have to go back to work full-throttle.”

I sit up straight. “Excuse me? Why? Because you can support us?”

“I can support us. But what I’m—”

“So I’m supposed to feel guilty about wanting to work just because you bring in billions?” Dammit, he knows how important my job is to me. How hard I’ve worked to build my business on my own, not relying on money that comes from Stark International.

He stares at me like someone might stare at a wild hyena. “That’s not what I’m saying at all.”

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW: BITCH SLAP by J. Kenner

The first time I met her I wanted to slap her.

The second time, I knew I had to have her.

As for the third time, a gentleman doesn’t tell.

So I guess it’s a good thing I’m no gentleman … right?

Let’s get this out of the way, right off the bat: I love women.

I love the way they look. The way they smell. The way they feel. Especially the way they feel. And I’ve pretty much made it my mission to give each and every woman who shares my bed the ride of her life.

Then I met her. Bitchy as hell and completely uninterested in me. And damned if I didn’t want her. Crave her. I told myself I only wanted to tame her. That it was all about the challenge.

I never expected to break through that ice queen exterior and find the softness underneath. Never expected how wild she’d be between the sheets or the way she’d cry my name with such sincere intensity when I totally rocked her world.

Most of all, I never expected to fall for her.

But I did.

And the question is, now that I know I want her, how the hell do I go about keeping her?

Review

Years ago, Pierce Blackwell suffered the ultimate bitch slap at the hands of a woman he loved and from that day on, he vowed to never allow another woman that kind of power, trading relationships in for one-night stands, keeping the expectations confined to what happens in the bedroom and nothing else. Hook ups were all Pierce was interested in until he was bitch slapped again…this time in the best and worst way possible…by one alluring and definitely dangerous beauty. And, even though her name implies she’s up for certain “no strings” activities, this hook-up doesn’t go according to plan; in fact, it upends Pierce’s controlled and unemotional game plan when it comes to women and puts him in a position to either change his ways or lose any chance he might have had with a woman who is both challenging and intriguing at the same time.

Bitch Slap is told strictly from Pierce’s perspective, so readers take this lust filled journey with him, witnessing his conflicted feelings about Jez and relationships and wondering what he plans to do as we see him breaking his own rules and slowly changing his view on what he wants from women…or at least this one woman who has gotten completely under his skin.

Pierce and Jez’s story is a fast-paced read that illustrates the complications of young stardom and the lengths family members go to in order to protect those they love. This is definitely a lust at first sight situation that has the potential to develop into more, but only if Pierce is willing to make an exception to his interaction with the opposite sex and if a plan is developed that allows Pierce to do his job while also taking a chance on having something worthwhile with Jez despite the fact that they live in different states and have trust issues galore.

EXCERPT REVEAL: HOT COP by Laurelin Paige and Sierra Simone

SBPRBanner-HotCop-ExcerptReveal

“Filthy, fun, and filled with heart. Hot Cop is going on my re-read shelf.”

–Audrey Carlan, #1 New York Times Bestselling Author

Hot Cop_amazon

Hot Cop, an all-new sexy, standalone from New York Times Bestseller Laurelin Paige and USA Today Bestseller Sierra Simone is coming June 13th!!!

Hot Cop by Laurelin Paige & Sierra Simone

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Synopsis

From NYT Bestselling Author, Laurelin Paige and USA Today Bestselling Author, Sierra Simone comes a steamy contemporary romantic follow-up to last year’s bestseller P*rn Star.

You have the right to remain sexy.

Anything you say can and will be used to get you in my bed.

You have the right to use my body to give yourself a delirious, life-changing orgasm.

If you have trouble…don’t worry, I’m a bit of an expert in that department.

There’s nothing ‘thin’ about my blue line, if you catch my drift, and trust me, I know how to put those handcuffs to good use.

***

Livia Ward wants a baby before she’s thirty.  And even though Officer Chase Kelly is exactly the kind of cocky jerk this librarian has sworn off, he is undeniably hot.  Both of them think they can give each other what they want–a few nights of fun for Officer Kelly, a no-strings baby for Livia–but this hot cop is about to learn that sex, babies, and love don’t always play by the rules.

Excerpt

I’m absolutely serious when I repeat my request. “Your baby. I want your baby.”

He swallows. “That’s.” He nods. “No.” He shakes his head. “I.” He fidgets in his chair, looking around the restaurant. “Waiter!” he calls to the server walking by who is most definitely not our waiter.

“Can I get you something, sir?”

“I’m going to need another drink.” Chase holds up his beer. “Another two drinks.”

“I’ll tell your server,” the waiter says and slips away.

I open my mouth but Chase says, “I’m going to need a minute.” I start to speak anyway, and he puts a finger up to silence me.

I sigh. I knew I was going about this wrong. I should have blown him first. Or I shouldn’t have approached this from the sex angle at all. Should never have let him think it was a date. Should definitely not have let him touch me like I did.

God, though. I can still feel his fingers. Feel how they brushed across my pussy. Feel how they stroked inside me.

I shiver at the memory.

He was right—I didn’t just come here tonight without panties because I didn’t want panty lines. The truth is I’d been prepared to use any means necessary to get what I wanted, including the old razzle dazzle. Problem was he razzled me first.

I should have been straightforward from the beginning. Hopefully this isn’t too botched to salvage.

I glance at Chase who is studying me, eyes squinted. He hasn’t indicated that he’s ready for me to speak, but fuck that. I have things to say.

Leaning forward, I rest my elbows on the table. “Look. I’m not a crazy cop stalker, if that’s what you’re thinking. Or someone who’s trying to trap you into a marriage or a relationship or even child support.”

His expression doesn’t change. “You have no idea what I’m thinking.”

“Then what are you thinking?”

The twinkle is back in his eyes, which is a relief. “That you’re a crazy cop stalker who’s trying to trap me into a marriage or a relationship or child support.”

I stifle a laugh. “I’m not. I promise. I don’t want anything from you. Other than the baby, I mean.” And really hot sex. Repeated hot sex.

“You don’t want anything from me,” he repeats, somewhat skeptical.

I clarify. “I want a baby. But no marriage. No relationship. No child support. No parental claim at all.”

He finishes the last of his beer and leans back in his chair. “I still don’t understand.”

He’s a smart guy. So either he’s playing dumb on purpose or he’s caught up on some part of the details.

I decide to make it as simple as possible. Speak the language he speaks best. “It’s easy, Chase. You want to have sex with me.” I feel sensual and strong with my bold statement.

But suddenly I’m afraid I’ve jumped to conclusions and my confidence falters. “You do want to have sex with me, don’t you?”

It’s his turn to look at me as though I’m playing crazy. “Yes, Livia,” he says with wide emphatic eyes. “Yes.” He pauses only a second before adding, “Do I need to make myself clearer? Because I can, but it wouldn’t be appropriate in a public venue.”

I bite my lip, pressing my thighs closer together to ease the newest wave of agony. “I think we’ve already pushed the limits of public decency. But you’re the cop. You’d know better than I would.”

His lip curls up on one side, and I know he’s considering. Damn, what I’d give to have a peek at the naughty imaginings going on inside his mind, because I know they’re naughty from the gleam in his eye. Very naughty.

“Chase…” I warn.

“You’re right, you’re right. Already pushed the limits. Go on.” But the gleam in his eye remains, and I’m giddy knowing that I’m prey, and he’s a predator just biding his time.

“Okay,” I say, my voice barely steady. “So, when you have sex, there are these microscopic things called sperm that come out of a man’s body when he ejaculates.”

“Liv, I know about sperm. But go on ahead and tell me about ejaculation. I’d like to hear what you have to say about that.”

His gaze never leaves mine and I flush picturing his cum in unproductive places—places that won’t make a baby—on my belly, on my breasts, spilling down my throat.

No, inside me. That’s where I want it most.

I lick my lips. “I’m saying you want to put it in me. I’m just asking to keep it afterward.”

About Laurelin

USA Today and New York Times Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Game of Thrones or The Walking Dead, or dreaming of Michael Fassbender. She’s also a proud member of Mensa International though she doesn’t do anything with the organization except use it as material for her bio. She is represented by Rebecca Friedman.

Excerpt

We’re at a table with six other people who Jerico knows. It hits me suddenly that he’s not just a hermit who hides in The Wicked Horse, but a real businessman. He owns a prominent security-consulting company and is probably very involved with the community if he’s attending functions like this.

I sit quietly, feeling like Julia Roberts in Pretty Women as the men discuss business and politics and the women talk to each other and ignore me. I only hope to God they don’t bring escargot because I definitely cannot eat it, and I don’t feel like being embarrassed by flinging a shell across the room.

When the salad is served, however, the chatter across the table dies down and Jerico turns slightly toward me as we eat. Leaning over, he whispers, “I hate all this polite chitchat.”

I have to swallow down a giggle before I whisper back to him. “Well, suck it up and eat your salad.”

Jerico responds by putting his hand on my leg, giving it a squeeze, and then using his fingers to pull at the silk of my gown. He gets it to rise right to my knees and then his hand is snaking under. I slap a hand on his wrist, look around the table to see everyone engaged in food or personal talk, and then I make a decision.

Not to stop him but to pull his hand up higher. I do this while watching Jerico’s nostrils flare and his eyes darken with arousal. But he does nothing more than squeeze the inside of my thigh before taking his hand away. I grin at him in satisfaction when he leans over once more to whisper, “Would you have really let me finger you under the table?”

“Yes,” I whisper back to him, my skin tingling with the prospect of what I almost let him do.

“Dirty girl,” he says with appreciation in his eyes. “But even I have my limits on what I’ll do in public. Besides, you’re too much of a screamer. We would have never gotten away with it.”

AuthorPhotoSince the release of her debut contemporary romance novel, Off Sides, in January 2013, Sawyer Bennett has released more than 30 books and has been featured on both the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists on multiple occasions.

A reformed trial lawyer from North Carolina, Sawyer uses real life experience to create relatable, sexy stories that appeal to a wide array of readers. From new adult to erotic contemporary romance, Sawyer writes something for just about everyone.

Sawyer likes her Bloody Marys strong, her martinis dirty, and her heroes a combination of the two. When not bringing fictional romance to life, Sawyer is a chauffeur, stylist, chef, maid, and personal assistant to a very active toddler, as well as full-time servant to two adorably naughty dogs. She believes in the good of others, and that a bad day can be cured with a great work-out, cake, or a combination of the two.

Excerpt

~ Rebecca ~

He kicks the door shut and without even turning on the light, he tosses me on my back on the bed. I prop up on my elbows. My dress is up around my waist, my bra is wet from Cade’s mouth, and my nipples are pointing right at him.

“Damn,” he rasps, and I watch, mesmerized as he reaches behind his neck to pull his shirt over his head, leaving his hair a sexy mess.

The light of the full moon blasting through my window covers him in a silvery glow. My stomach clenches when I see the lines of his muscles deepened by the shadowy light. My God, he’s gorgeous. He looks otherworldly.

“We really shouldn’t do this…” My voice is breathless.

“Agreed.”

He strides toward the bed, his eyes never leaving mine. He’s focused, determined, and I watch long fingers unfasten his belt, the top of his jeans, his zipper.

“This is a terrible idea.”

“Yes,” he murmurs as he cups my face. I sigh and lean into his palm, letting the sizzle between us electrify me. If I do this…if I go through with boning him…it’s going to be the best sex of my life, judging by the tiny raised hairs all over my body.

I scoot to the foot of the bed so I’m right in front of him and my head is level with his waist. Looking up, I slide my palms to his sides, pushing his jeans lower.

He’s standing in front of me in black boxer briefs. I slide my palms up and down against the hot planes of his pelvis, teasing him, tracing my fingers around the straining bulge of his erection. “We’re gonna regret this.”

A long shudder comes from him, and his eyes are heavy-lidded as he watches me. “I don’t think so, Stone. Not in a million fucking years.” He leans down and his lips capture mine, his tongue sweeping inside my mouth, exploring, owning me.
