And, it’s those exact differing ideas that Mister Romance, Max Riley, attempts to prove to the cynical Eden Tate because as much as other women have deemed this fictitious character as a romantic savior, Eden sees him as nothing more than a mythical man – one who uses women and capitalizes on their loneliness in order to con them out of an absurd amount of money.

Leisa Rayven portrays Eden Tate as a closed-off woman – one firmly against the concept of romance and one who uses sex as nothing more than a release because she doesn’t believe in happily ever afters or romantic fairy tales. It’s clear there are reasons behind Eden’s stanch attitude when it comes to love and marriage, but readers aren’t privy to that information until Rayven feels we should know, which makes Eden’s feelings for Max and the internal musings of how he makes her feel that much more intriguing.

I point to the guy behind the glass. “You want Peter’s number?”

“I don’t know. Do you think he likes piňa coladas and making love in the rain?”

For a flash second, a burst of wildfire curls through my veins. It feels like white-hot jealousy. Which is ridiculous since she’s not making love to Peter.

Or me, for that matter, obviously.

I fight off the envy with a full dose of sarcasm. “Have you ever noticed you never have a good pair of headphones when you need them?”

She huffs. “Message received. I’ll just shut up and read a book.” She reaches for her phone on the seat, but accidentally knocks it to the floor of the car. I lean down to pick it up, and when I hand it to her I see her playlist.

I smirk. That’s too fucking adorable. “You like bubblegum pop?”

I don’t know what comes over me, but I’m pretty damn sure it’s the way this girl needles me. It’s her French maid routine. It’s her pushing all my buttons. It’s the way she detests me.

I hold her phone behind my head.

 “Max,” she says, in a perfect plea. God, it’s hot. I can hear her saying it in bed.

I feign surprise. “Oh, did you want your phone back, tiger?”

Her eyes widen when I use that word. Frankly, I’m surprised I said it. But she is a tiger, especially right now as she leans across the seat, reaching for it.

Damn, I’m an asshole. And yet, I can’t seem to stop playing keep-away with her phone, jamming it far behind me so that it hits the side of the car. She lunges for it, thrusting her arm out, but only hitting my forearm.

She swats me. “Give it to me.”

My brain short-circuits. She would sound hot saying that bent over the bed.

Then in a flurry, she unbuckles her seat belt and lunges at me.

Foul play indeed.

She’s on me. She’s fucking on me. She climbs, stretching high, her tits near my motherfucking face, so help me God. They are saggy, drooping, ugly breasts.

Except they’re not.

They’re perfect. Lush, ripe.

Like her sweet perfume scent. Like her cinnamon breath that flutters across my cheek as she rises higher. As she reaches, her T-shirt rides up, revealing a sliver of her stomach.

3. Revel in the witty banter and electric chemistry between Max Summers, the King of Manhattan’s Custom Car Business, and Henley Rose Marlowe, the soon-to-be Queen of the custom car business.
4. Immerse myself into this amazingly written enemies-to-lovers story and understand that the only real reason Max and Henley dislike each other is because of the insane attraction they have to one another – a dangerous temptation that can take both of them off their game, becoming more of a distraction than anything else and putting them both in a position that pits rival businesses against one another as well as the disastrous mixing of business and pleasure.
5. Wait impatiently for Blakely’s next romantic comedy, anticipating the ride she plans to take readers on and the type of hero who’ll be telling his own story.

Lauren Blakely couldn’t have thought of a more fitting name than the one she did for Max and Henley’s story. The King of Pleasure has taken quite a few joy rides with the opposite sex, but the one he’s about to take with Henley is a journey he might not survive because his fiery, headstrong, brilliant-minded ex-apprentice is about to test his maneuvering skills, proving that he finally has some strong competition when it comes to customizing cars and also indicating that his indulgences of one-night stands might be heading to the chop shop because once he gives into his need to get Henley underneath more than just a car, he’s going to realize that there’s no going back to somewhat high-end cars when he’s had a perfectly built, top-of-the line car that blows him away with all of her finer assets.

I absolutely loved Joy Ride! Max is a perfectly flawed hero who learns the errors of his ways the more he interacts with Henley and understands exactly why he did what he did five years ago. Henley is a kickass heroine who holds her own in a male dominated field and while someone of her beauty and curves would be the perfect model to pose with the custom cars, she prefers to work underneath them, saving the times she sits on them for the private times with Max;)

About the Author

Melissa Collins has always been a book worm. Studying Literature in college ensured that her nose was always stuck in a book. She followed her passion for reading to the most logical career choice: English teacher. Her hope was to share her passion for reading and the escapism of books to her students. Having spent more than a decade in front of a classroom, she can easily say that it’s been a dream.
Her passion for writing didn’t start until more recently. When she was home on maternity leave in early 2012, she read her first romance novel and her head filled with the passion, angst and laughter of the characters who she read about it. It wasn’t long before characters of her own took shape in her mind. Their lives took over Melissa’s brain and The Love Series was born.
