At fifteen I fell in love. His name was Jake Stephens and he took the abandoned, lonely girl I had been and made me whole. His love was a pure and unconditional love that made every day better than the last…a fairy tale of my very own.

But this story isn’t about Jake. It’s about Abel Madden; the man I meet after the fairy tale goes to hell. A cocky, arrogant man who says what he wants, does as he pleases, and makes no excuses for it. He irritates me—downright pisses me off at times—but he also brings me back to life.

My name is Sidney Ellis and this is my story of finding love twice—the first when I needed it most and the second when I never saw it coming.

The Janus Chamber

The Juliette Society, Book II

October 11, 2016

Blurb

A few years have passed since Catherine’s time in the The Juliette Society, but things haven’t been going the way she planned. Her life with her fiancé Jack has become predictable and boring, especially in the bedroom. Now working as a journalist, she struggles to find inspiration in her work or at home—until she starts writing about the death of a publicly beloved model, Inana Luna, whose experiences reflect Catherine’s own blossoming sexuality and independence. What started as a routine story quickly becomes Catherine’s obsession, as she follows the tale of a woman whose tracks take her down a road with too many familiar facets: a fascination with kink, lustful men, and some very sexy intrigue. Like the Roman god Janus, Catherine is simultaneously looking to the past and the future. Can her experiences with The Juliette Society, along with Inana’s diary, help her figure out what she really wants in life, love, and sex? Or will the story drag her back down into a tantalizing world from which she might not be able to escape a second time?

review

Lars Elliott is all about finding any and all ways to feel a rush. Whether it’s in the boardroom, the bedroom, or any extreme situation, he seeks to immerse himself in high energy, high impact activities that feed his thrill seeker soul and prove that it’s good to be alive.

But when it comes to being shot and traversing through a web of lies, Lars can only handle so much before he needs answers, especially when a beautiful and intelligent woman is added to the mix and he begins to feel like there’s nothing he wouldn’t do for her.

Dr. Braelynn Rollins is playing a dangerous game with her life, but ultimately, she doesn’t have a choice because her freedom is at stake, so when Lars re-enters her life, further complicating Brae’s situation and her need to protect him, she does her best to keep him at a distance, but she soon finds herself falling for the charismatic, intense man, and even though she knows there can’t be anything but sex between them, she fantasizes about a future with Lars – one that allows her the freedom to explore her feelings for him and the immense pleasure he’s sure to bring to her body as well as her heart.

The rush Lars and Brae feel when they’re together is something that neither of them knows how to deal with because there are extenuating circumstances that prevent Brae from being completely honest with Lars. Those secrets don’t set well with him because trust is an essential part of his life, and he also has never fully committed to one woman, which further complicates an already out of control situation. Their feelings for one another are potent but so is the danger that Brae’s in, which means that when Lars is done protecting her and Brae’s secrets are revealed, it’s unclear what will be left of what they feel for each other.

Lars and Brae’s story explores the erotic world of thrill seekers and the risks they take to feel a rush, whether it be sexual or not. With extreme situations, there’s always a chance for danger, which is intensified in Wicked Rush because lives are on the line and the secrets that are being kept have the power to destroy as well as empower. Lars and Brae’s limits are pushed to the extreme in a multitude of ways throughout the story, bringing them together and also threatening to tear them apart. But if there’s one thing that’s made clear at the end of the story, it’s that sometimes great risks have great rewards and as long as Lars and Brae can hold on to that idea then their fantasies may become realities, which will allow them to have something neither of them have ever had – a rush like no other and lifetime of thrills.

Book 2 in Kym Grosso’s Club Altura series continues to invite readers into a “rush-fueled world,” one that is not for the faint of heart and one that has the power to reach the highest highs as well as the lowest lows. A thrill seeker’s way of life is not for everyone, but if someone is willing to play the game, there’s no telling what rewards can be reaped, which is exactly what Garrett and now Lars offer their extreme world of sex, sports, and secrets.

An Arc was provided.

On a whim, K. Bromberg decided to try her hand at this writing thing. Since then she has written The Driven Series (Driven, Fueled, Crashed, Raced, Aced), the standalone Driven Novels (Slow Burn, Sweet Ache, Hard Beat, and Down Shift), and a novella (UnRaveled). RELEASE REVIEW: Sugar Free by Sawyer Bennett

sugar-free_bennett

Blurb

Sela and Beck’s deliciously sinful tale of sex, lies, and vengeance reaches its explosive conclusion in the final chapter of Sawyer Bennett’s Sugar Bowl trilogy, which began with the novels Sugar Daddy and Sugar Rush.

For years Sela Halstead dreamed of revenge, but the quest for payback has been anything but sweet. Now, once again, she finds herself at the mercy of Jonathon Townsend, his hands crushing the very breath from her body. And even though she escapes with her life, Sela fears she may never recover. In desperate need of shelter and comfort, she runs to the one man she can trust. Beckett North has stood by Sela since the beginning. But can he handle the brutal truth?

Beck will do anything to protect what is his—and make no mistake, Sela belongs to him, heart and soul. The passion between them runs hot, even as their world begins to unravel. With the legacy of his ruthless business partner hanging in the balance, Beck stands to lose everything: his fortune, his family, his freedom. But each touch of Sela’s mouth on his skin, her nails down his back, makes it harder to let her go—and it might not even be his choice to make.

Review

Sugar Free is the perfect title for the conclusion to Sela & Beck’s story because the events at the end of Sugar Rush and the fallout from JT’s death turn their lives upside down, putting their love and their freedom in jeopardy as they struggle to hide their crimes and protect themselves against persecution for actions that they’re very much guilty of but have valid reasons for committing.

There’s definitely a much darker feel to Sugar Free than the previous two books in the series. As secrets are revealed and cover ups are put into play, it’s hard to tell if Sela and Beck are going to come out of this situation unified and free or if they’ll lose everything due to what they see as necessary actions.

Sawyer Bennett does a great job of illustrating how conflicted Sela and Beck are with the choices they’ve made in order to protect each other and those they love. Their crimes are extensive and even with just cause for their actions, they still made missteps that could cost them a lot more than their freedom. There were times as I was reading Sugar Free that I wanted to shake both Sela and Beck for their misspoken words and deeds, but with the intensity of the situation and the depth of their love for one another, it makes sense that things would go off kilter.

I did find Beck’s double standard in terms of his beliefs about deceit, lies, and cover-ups a little off-putting because those are the exact things he does throughout Sugar Free, but because Sawyer Bennett gives readers his perspective, it’s easier to see why this situation is different compared to the sins of his parents.

Bennett’s Sugar Bowl series a fantastic collection of romantic suspense stories that will keep readers intrigue until the very end. The chemistry between Sela and Beck as well as the bond Beck has with his sister, Caroline, are perfectly illustrated, which in turn, allows readers to understand Beck’s need to protect them and make sure that things go according to his plan and no one else’s strategy because he feels responsible for so much of what happens and wants to make things write for the women he loves.

RELEASE BLITZ AND REVIEW: Tonic by Staci Hart

Title: Tonic
Author: Staci Hart
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: October 13, 2016
Blurb

Joel Anderson doesn’t take anything seriously.

Not his relationships, which have been few and far between since his brutal divorce. Not the drama of working in a tattoo parlor, which seems to be around every corner. When things get him down, he smiles and cracks a joke. But he’s not the kind of man you cross, or you’ll find yourself at the wrong end of his fists.

Annika Belousov takes everything seriously.

Like her job as a reality television producer, given that she typically has something to prove. Or her love life, which is defined by a series of requirements — affluent, ambitious, accomplished, to name a few. Definitely her family, who worked their whole lives to afford her every opportunity, a sacrifice she doesn’t take lightly. When she’s tapped to produce a reality show at Joel’s shop, she doesn’t think twice, just goes in for the kill, as if there were any other way.

The second Annika walks into Joel’s shop, he makes it his mission to crack her open, but she’s not having it. He’s all wrong — too crass, too hairy, too un-serious. But it doesn’t take her long to find out there’s more to him than smirks and tattoos. And what she finds could put her career and his heart on the line.

Not that Joel cares. Because for the first time in a long time, he’s found his tonic.

Review

A tonic is something that invigorates…something that allows the body and the mind to feel alive, which is exactly what happens to Joel Anderson and Annika Belousov when reality tv invades Joel’s tattoo parlor, hoping to make Joel and his crew household names and placing Annika in a situation that allows her to slowly remove her icy armor but also puts her in a complicated situation, one that forces her to juggle her job as executive producer for Joel’s show and her personal feelings for the hairy mammoth of a man.

Joel definitely wasn’t keen on the idea of opening up his shop to television cameras and the amount of people it takes to film a reality show, but his pride gets the better of him, putting him and his life in a spotlight that he never wanted. But Joel would willingly endure hours of filming as long as he gets the chance to unthaw Annika, the ice princess, who walks into his life to make him her meat puppet, stirring up trouble for ratings and knocking him on his ass with her beauty, her attitude, and her impenetrable wall that makes him crave the woman she is beneath the frigid mask she wears.

I absolutely adored how Staci Hart illustrated the dichotomy of Joel and Annika’s personalities. They are opposites in every sense of the word, which may seem like a deterrent for anything to happen between them, but it actually is a driving force that attracts them to one another and forces them to risk their emotionless, no ties life for a chance at something that scares the hell out of both of them but also makes them feel more than they’ve ever felt before.

Hart does a fantastic job of crafting Annika in a way that allows the readers to truly get to know her and understand who she is beneath her armor as Joel takes down her wall, brick by brick. Remarkably, Annika’s an easy character to love because even though all of her warts are exposed, readers also are allowed insight into who she is with her family and the depth of her love for those who mean everything to her. Does she mess up at times, absolutely, but she’s been the professional version of herself for so long that it’s difficult for her to assimilate the woman Joel uncovers and the one her job dictates her to be and because she has to try to balance both women due to Joel’s role in the show she’s producing, there’s bound to be conflict and shake-ups because that’s exactly what’s expected in reality television.

Staci Hart continually crafts stories with heart, exposing the scars people wear and the risky moves they make in order to live again…in order to find themselves again…in order to give their love to someone again, fearing the worst but hoping for the best. It’s easy to get lost in the worlds Hart creates because they’re realistically and vividly explored. Life is messy and made up of both highs and lows and those ideas are clearly illustrated in Joel and Annika’s story, which is why it will connect with readers and allow themselves to see past Annika’s cold exterior to who she is with Joel and how she sets him free from his past and offers him a new perspective on love and life.

Review given in exchange for a complimentary copy of Tonic.

Staci has been a lot of things up to this point in her life: a graphic designer, an entrepreneur, a seamstress, a clothing and handbag designer, a waitress. Can’t forget that. She’s also been a mom, with three little girls who are sure to grow up to break a number of hearts. She’s been a wife, even though she’s certainly not the cleanest, or the best cook. She’s also super, duper fun at a party, especially if she’s been drinking whiskey. Her favorite word starts with f and ends with k.

“Marriage Games is one of the most powerful novels I have ever read. CD Reiss gets into the soul of her hero and heroine and never lets go. A strong, clear picture of the psychological and emotional challenges of a D/s relationship, especially in a marriage. Why it works and why it might not. Can’t wait for the next one.” ―Desiree Holt, USA Today bestselling author

That’s all Adam Steinbeck demands of his wife.

Thirty days in a remote cottage, doing everything he demands. After that, he’ll sign her divorce papers and give her complete ownership of their company.

THIRTY DAYS

THIRTY DAYS

She wants the business they built badly enough to go to the cottage for a month. Cut off ties to the world and do his bidding. She can submit to him with her body, but her heart will never yield.

She thinks this is his pathetic attempt to repair their marriage.

She’s wrong.

“Pull your skirt up.” I said it without acknowledging the possibility that she’d disobey. It felt good to use those words and that tone. To watch her eyes go to the floor.

“Trust me.” I said it so low she was just within range to hear it. “Five minutes. Then we don’t have to fight over the car.”

I stepped back and set my watch with a beep. It wasn’t about the car for her. The Jag was the least of her worries, but it was a tangible justification.

For the downcast eyes. For the way her breathing changed. Maybe every bone in her body was vanilla. Maybe not.

“Quit any time,” I said. “Just say the word.”

She laid her hands on her hips.

Curled her fingers.

Gripped fabric.

Pulled up her skirt.

The tops of her thighs came into view then met at the crotch. I was hard already and made no move to hide it. She noticed and stopped moving the skirt.

“Higher,” I said as if telling her how to center a picture over the couch. Higher was where it had to be. It wasn’t a request.

Up it went, revealing cotton underwear in a pink so pale they were almost white.

“Now what?” she asked.

“How do you feel?”

“Weird, Adam. Really weird.”

“Why?”

“Because I’m standing here with my skirt around my waist? Because you told me to? For a car, no less, which is creepy.”

She was so honest. I ached for her honesty.

“You’re not obeying me for an object. You’re obeying me so I do something. Take an action or don’t.”

“You think that’s not weird?”

“No, I don’t. And we have four minutes.” I stepped forward. Part of her discomfort was in the physical distance between us. I’d stepped away so she didn’t feel threatened, but my gaze was keeping her from relaxing. I kept my eyes on hers. I could smell her perfume and feel the shortness of her breath. “Are you turned on?”

“Sex isn’t going to get me back. I’m sorry—”

“Touch yourself.”

Her initial shock and offense lasted only a second before she pressed her lips together and reached down, shoulders angling, hand thrusting as if checking to make sure her cunt was still there.

We have hundreds of bones in our bodies, and sometimes we won’t acknowledge the preferences of the ones that scare us.

“Are you wet?”

“A little.”

I gripped the edge of the vanity and put my lips near her cheek, millimeters from touching her.

“You don’t love me anymore,” I whispered. “But I could always make you wet, and you always came for me. Like our Italy vacation. In Florence. Coming back from that club, in the little alley. Against the wall. I ripped through your underwear.”

Her breathing got shallow and fast.

“I fucked you in the dark, and when you came, you screamed my name so loud all the lights in the apartments went on.”

“That was good.” She turned her face toward mine.

When her lips nearly touched me, I pulled away just enough. “I said I wouldn’t touch you.”

“I changed my mind.”

I wasn’t fooled. Her arousal was talking. I owned her. She’d do whatever I told her. But I wanted something very simple. I wanted her pleasure. “Take the juice from your cunt and rub it on your clit. Make it wet.”

“Adam.”

“What?”

“What’s come over you?”

“Do it.” I felt her arm move against me. “Rub back and forth. Be consistent. One-two-one-two.”

When I felt that she had it, I stepped back. She stopped. Her knees were bent slightly and her fingers had taken her cunt from the side of the crotch, not the waistband. She never ceased to surprise me.

“One-two-one-two, huntress.”

“Is this your way of getting back at me?”

“One-two-one-two. Let me see you come. You’re so beautiful when you come. You’ve gone this far.”

Her body must have been able to override her mind, because she moved her finger again, closing her eyes. Her cheeks reddened and her knees bent more deeply.

“In Florence. An hour after we got to the hotel. I came so deep in you that night. I fucked you from behind with your leg up on the dresser. I wanted to thrust my whole body inside you. I loved you that much. And I gave up who I was. Last night, at the club, I remembered what I was. I was a man who was obeyed. I dominated women, and they submitted to me. The result was what you’re about to feel. Complete pleasure.”

She let out a long, low groan, leaning on the vanity, twisting. I could have fucked her right then. I could have bent her over the counter and pounded her. But that wasn’t the point. No. Watching her hand move under her clothes because I commanded it. That was the point.

An uh escaped her throat. Years of marriage had taught me that meant she was about to come.

My watch beeped.

“Time’s up,” I said.

Her eyes went wide. Her hand stopped.

“Thank you,” I said. “We’re done. I’ll send you the title to the car. You might want to pull your skirt down, since I can’t lock the door from the outside.”

It was hard to walk away from her panting, bent frame without tasting her cunt or even seeing more of her reaction, but I turned the corner, unlocked the door, and left the bathroom.

About the Author

CD Reiss is a USA Today and Amazon bestseller. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up, she’s at the well, hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere, but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

Critics have dubbed the books “poetic,” “literary,” and “hauntingly atmospheric,” which is flattering enough for her to put it in a bio, but embarrassing enough for her not to tell her husband, or he might think she’s some sort of braggart who’s too good to chop a cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.
