From New York Times bestseller Katy Regnery comes another timeless tale of love everlasting!

Loosely inspired by the legend of Camelot, Dark Sexy Knight tells the story of dinner theater knight Colt Lane, who meets down-on-her-luck Verity Gwynn on the worst day of her life. Evicted from their home, Verity and her special-needs brother, Ryan, must find jobs or risk being separated. Colt, who is the furthest-possible thing from a white knight in real life, comes to their unlikely rescue, quickly cementing his place in Verity’s heart.

Colt has dark, deeply buried secrets that keep his smile hidden and his eyes down, which has kept people away . . . until he meets Verity, who seems immune to his gruff manners and taciturn ways. The more time Colt spends with her, the more he longs for her sweetness in his life and yearns to be the knight in shining armor she so desperately needs. Certain he will lose her if she learns the truth about his past, he must decide if he can trust her with his yesterday in order to build a beautiful tomorrow.

Blurb

One life-changing summer.

One boy.

The boy.

The boy who offered me safe touches and heart-stopping smiles – smiles he shared with his son.

We filled our days with porch-step kisses,

filled our ears with laughter,

filled our hearts with love.

Deep, soul-aching, desperate love.

But love is misleading.

It’s an invisible, fleeting moment.

Somewhere between false adoration and pure hatred comes an emotion, a vulnerable need, a single desire.

It lives within the ones who miss it, who crave it,

who know better than to expect it.

Love is relentless.

Even when that love turns to hate, turns to loathing,

turns to pain.

Love should heal you.

But it can also break you.

Believe me, I know…

Because I’m Becca Owens – a broken girl…

…And he’s Josh Warden – the boy who broke me.

Review

Coast

That’s the ultimate goal in life – to work through the bullshit by kicking and pushing and then reap the benefits of the work by being able to breathe easy and soar.

Josh Warden has been kicking and pushing ever since he was left as a single father as a teenager and turned away by the very people who were supposed to love and support him unconditionally. One kick at a time, though, and with the selfless nature of a woman who becomes Josh and Tommy’s lifeline, Josh finds his stride, and regardless of what he faces, he’ll continue to grind…continue to get his bearings in order to provide and protect his son.

Along the way, Josh meets his emerald eyes girl, and together, they continue to kick and push past the painful memories…past the fear…past other people’s selfish actions. But on their way to coasting, Josh and Becca nosedive, shattering the love between them and putting them both on the rails, pushing them away from one another in order to survive.

That’s where Jay McLean leaves readers in Kick, Push, and even though it crushed my heart, I understood why Josh and Becca needed time apart; because in order for them to truly be able to coast…to truly be able to love one another without their broken and tormented souls weighing them down, they needed to choose to be happy and firetruck the rest and that couldn’t happen without Becca healing her past and preventing it from taking away her future – the one she wants with her skater boy and the little boy who owns her heart.

I have to admit…I was praising and cursing Jay as I read Coast. My mind knew that it had to be a process for Josh and Becca to reunite, but my heart demanded a fast reunion! Jay sets up Coast in parts, which truly illustrates the healing process and the time it takes for both of them to come to terms with everything that happened. Becca needs to work on herself and achieve her personal goals before being able to reach for Josh again, and Jay gives Becca that time, and we as readers take that self-realization journey with her and are able to see her figure out who she is and what she wants and needs in her life. There was never a doubt of Josh and Becca’s love for each other, but Becca’s perception of love has always been twisted due to her mother’s actions, so in order for her to heal…in order for her to embrace Josh’s love, she needed to learn to love herself and accept who she is inspite of how/why she became that way.

Coast is very much Becca’s story; Josh plays a pivotal role, which he should, but Becca is the one who needs to push herself and find where she, Josh, and Tommy can exist together, seeing one another through the lens of love, forgiveness, and compassion.

I loved Becca’s journal entries – they were raw and cathartic, exposing her tormented soul but also allowing her a means to process everything that’s happened in her life and to reconcile her past in order to move on to her future.

Jay McLean’s stories always leave a lasting impression on me because the issues that are explored and the emotions that are conveyed speak to all that life offers people on a continual basis. There’s never been a book by Jay that hasn’t captured more heart, but Becca and Josh’s duet will forever remain in my top 10 reads of all time because their story shows life’s reality and how people cope, not sugar coating anything because ultimately, there’s going to be a hell of a lot of kicking and pushing in order to figure out how to coast, and even when coasting is obtained, there’s still an uphill battle because that’s how life works; people just need to furiously fight to find the place where the land meets the sea for them and those who mean everything to them.

PROMO TOUR: REVIEW, EXCERPT, AND GIVEAWAY: SPEECHLESS by Nicole Edwards

Speechless_TourBanner
Title: Speechless
Series: Pier 70 #3
Author: Nicole Edwards
Genre: Adult, M/M Romance
Published: June 7, 2016
He’s suffering in silence…

Teague Carter, one of the four owners of Pier 70 Marina, has spent his life feeling rejected. To the point that he has never allowed himself to get close to anyone. He prefers it that way, in fact. But he refuses to believe that his destructive behavior might be something more than rebellion.

He’s unable to speak…

Hudson Ballard, Pier 70’s mechanic, has been fighting his attraction to Teague for years. He has stood by and watched the kid get more and more out of control, but this time is the last. If Teague wants to use sex to escape his problems, Hudson is certainly willing to be the one to show him that he’s good with more than just his hands.

Sometimes words aren’t necessary.

There are fireworks when this out-of-control bad boy agrees to no strings with this tatted up, dominating mechanic.

Can Teague and Hudson keep their emotions from getting involved in their arrangement? Or — thanks to the demons from their pasts — will the darkness steal from them before they have a chance?

We invite you join the Nicole & Colt Edwards Group on Facebook. Don’t miss out on the fun and prizes at the Speechless Release Party happening Monday, June 7th starting at 8 AM CST till Tuesday, June 8th at 10 PM CST.
Review_Purple (1)

Some people get lost in the silence, succumbing to the darkness, unable to fight a past that has left them broken and scarred. Other people, though, thrive in the quiet; they see it as a way to truly listen to their heart and understand their own needs without the constant chatter.

Teague Carter definitely suffers in silence, not allowing anyone in to see how truly damaged he is by his mother’s death and his mistreatment in the foster care system. But even if no one can understand his suffering, the way that he handles things…the anger…the impulsivity…the defiant attitude speaks volumes about what Teague still experiences at the hands of his past and unless he can learn to not allow his emotions to get the better of him, he will never comes to terms with anything and be left deal with the pain alone.

Hudson Ballard is a dominant man who has also had a traumatic past. Because he does not have the ability to speak, he’s forced to let his actions speak for him, and even though he tries to fight his attraction and desire for Teague, Hudson offers Teague his body to use in order to quiet the voices in Teague’s head and channel his chaotic feelings in a way that allows him to release his fears, his frustrations, and his depressive thoughts in a constructive way.

Both men are stubborn and willful, so they refuse to fully give into one another, keeping it all about sex and release. But as their bodies communicate, it’s clear that Teague and Hudson are more than just fuck buddies, but to get them to confront their unspoken feelings is impossible, especially for Teague because he doesn’t want to like, desire, or need Hudson, and it only pisses him off more when he realizes that his feelings run deep because Teague knows in his heart that Hudson will be just like everyone else and abandon him, leaving him once again alone and in unbearable silence.

There are a lot of heavy issues confronted in Speechless, so, at times, it’s an overwhelming read, but Nicole Edwards does a great job in illustrating the necessity for those concerns to be addressed, making the journey both painful and beautiful at the same time. Teague and Hudson are complex men who deal with their respective pasts in much different ways, but both men are fighters as well as survivors, which is a good thing because Hudson refuses to give up on Teague regardless of the walls Teague throws up. Teague needs someone to finally stand by him and help him to heal and grow, and Hudson is the man to do it because not only does he have similar experiences, but he’s willing to risk everything to show Teague how good they are together.

Speechless is a heartwarming as well as heartbreaking read that will likely put readers through the gamut of emotions. Because Teague and Hudson start out as sexual partners and nothing else, it’s interesting to witness how their no strings sex evolves and as their interactions become more intimate, it allows readers to recognize how much Teague and Hudson’s bond can heal them as long as Teague doesn’t destroy it by lashing out, refusing to admit how he truly feels for the dominant man who wants to own him in every sense of the word.

I absolutely adore Nicole Edwards’ Pier 70 series. Cam, Dare, Roan, and Teague have each other’s backs and face difficulties together. The easy banter and camaraderie that exists between this group of men is illustrated in each book, which makes each storyline richer and more complex because readers get perspectives from all sides, allowing further insight when needed.  At the end of Speechless, there’s two potential relationships to be explored, and I’m eager to see  what Nicole Edwards is working on for Roan and Milly.

Speechless Excerpt 1: © Nicole Edwards 2016

Thursday, June 2nd
TEAGUE CARTER TRIED to ignore Hudson Ballard. Hell, he’d tried to ignore the bastard for the past … what? Two years now? Maybe three? Who freaking knows and who really cares. Regardless, it was getting more and more difficult as each day passed, but he wanted to think he’d done a pretty decent job all this time.
Until now.
Until today.
Until this fucking cruise, where he’d seen more of Hudson than he cared to.
Yup, Teague had mastered the art of avoidance or so he’d thought. But here on this stupid cruise ship, with the way Hudson was watching him, avoiding the man was damn near impossible. To the point that Teague simply wanted to punch him. In the mouth.
But he hadn’t.
No, he had settled for drinking himself into oblivion and it’d worked. He could no longer feel his fingers or toes, and his tongue had long ago gone numb thanks to the whiskey he’d been drinking like water. Chasing it with beer helped, too. It’d been the only way he could handle watching Hudson talk to the guy he’d brought on the ship with him. Stupid asshole.
He peered over his shoulder at Hudson, noticing the big guy was watching him intently. Teague had the sudden urge to stick out his tongue, but he knew that was petty and childish, and he was doing his best not to give in to those impulses. Shit, he was twenty-five years old, for fuck’s sake. He could act like a grown-up when need be.
Still didn’t mean he liked the fact that Hudson had brought along a plus one on this trip. Teague was pretty sure someone had said the guy’s name was AJ, but he wasn’t positive. Nor did he give a fuck. What the hell kind of name was that, anyway?
“A. J.” Teague smiled to himself as he began saying the letters faster. “A. J. A. J. A. J. Age. Age. Age. Age. Age.” He laughed because they now sounded funny and made his tongue tingle.
He rolled his eyes and lifted his empty glass. Too bad the bar was closed already. Then again, the reception was over, which meant the private room would probably be closing soon, too. The alcohol was definitely helping to keep him from thinking about Hudson. In fact, he’d done everything in his power not to pay attention to Hudson and his new boy toy. The boy toy who had been signing to Hudson earlier and was now talking to Milly.
Did anyone else find that strange?
Gay guy. Straight girl. No matter how you calculated it, the math didn’t add up.
Damn. He’d obviously had far too much to drink, because it sure as shit looked like Milly and the guy were flirting it up. But that couldn’t be the case. The asshole was here with Hudson.
Hudson the Prick.
Mmm-hmm, that was what Teague had started calling him. It was a good name for him, too.
When his head started spinning again, Teague knew it was time to get to his cabin. He wasn’t sure how he was going to make that happen, but he figured he’d get there eventually. If not, he could always lie down on the floor and take a nap. It wasn’t like anyone would be worried about where he was or who he was with. Unlike everyone else on this stupid cruise, he didn’t have a plus one. He was rolling solo, like always.
Oh, wait. Roan was, too.
Whatever.
Roan wasn’t important right now.
“Son of a fucking bitch,” he muttered, holding his empty glass. No more whiskey and no more bartender meant heading back to his room was a definite must.
He managed to twist in his chair and get his feet firmly on the floor, but when he went to stand, the room started spinning again. He had to sit back down. Luckily, no one had moved the chair or he would’ve been on his ass on the floor, and he was seriously questioning whether or not he could’ve gotten up from that point.
Okay, one more try.
Again, Teague pushed to his feet, this time remaining upright long enough to get away from the table. He started in the direction of the door, hoping he would make it. Right foot. Left foot. Right foot.
Wait, which foot was he on?
He looked up at the door. That was a long-ass way from where he was, but…
Shit.
He stumbled again and grabbed the nearest chair. “If the ship would stop rocking, I’d be fine.” He wasn’t sure who he was talking to, but the words helped his tongue not feel so numb, so he continued to ramble as he pushed away from the chair and made another go at getting to the door.
Unfortunately, the door disappeared from view when a giant body stepped in front of him.
Fucking great.
Now he had to deal with Hudson the Prick.
Teague instantly looked at Hudson’s hands as he signed. He had absolutely no fucking idea what Hudson said, but if he knew Hudson, it was going to be something that involved telling Teague what to do. So he replied in kind. “Thanks for the bit of advice, Dad.”
The next thing Teague knew, he tripped on his own foot, and the world tilted sideways. Just as he was gearing up to kiss the floor, Hudson’s enormous arms wrapped around him, keeping him from face-planting. Because he was too drunk to do otherwise, he allowed Hudson to get him to his feet by putting his arm around his back.
Hmm. The guy smelled good.
Then again, he always smelled good.
Something dark and woodsy…
Had to be cologne. The expensive shit, at that.
While Hudson guided him toward the door, Teague tried to ignore the heat that seared him from Hudson’s touch. He hated how fucking good it felt for someone to be touching him like this. He wasn’t sure anyone had ever attempted to take care of him or given a flying fuck whether or not he made it where he needed to go, but it seemed Hudson was doing just that. Sure, Teague had friends, kind of, but most of them would’ve laughed their ass off once Teague hit the ground. They wouldn’t have helped him by any means. And since he had no family…
Teague was distracted by Hudson’s scent.
“Why the fuck do you have to smell so good?” He tried to peer up at Hudson, wanting to look into those emerald-green eyes. “And why the hell aren’t you with your boyfriend?”
He knew better than to expect an answer from Hudson. The guy was mute; he couldn’t speak. If he signed a response, Teague wouldn’t understand, anyway. And truthfully, he didn’t want an answer to that. He’d done his best not to think about Hudson and that guy sharing a room, sharing a bed…
He shook his head, trying to dislodge the stupidity that was bouncing around inside his brain.
Hudson helped him onto the elevator, then pointed to the panel by the door.
Teague reached out and hit a button. Seven was a good number. It was random, sure, but that was because he couldn’t remember what floor he was on.
When they got to the floor, Hudson helped him out, still holding him upright as he led him down the hall. For some reason, this didn’t look like the right one, but Teague really didn’t know. His vision was blurry, so he couldn’t tell for sure. The carpet was different, maybe?
“Not my floor,” he mumbled, trying to remember what floor he actually was on. “Room number doesn’t have a seven.”
Or did it?
He felt Hudson’s arm tighten around him, and he got the sense Hudson wasn’t pleased with him, but he didn’t give much of a fuck. No, he didn’t give a fuck at all. The thought made him chuckle.
No fuck at all.
It seemed like forever before they finally made it to the right floor. It had only taken another detour on the wrong one before he got lucky. This one looked like the right place. And this—he reached out his arm and pointed—was the right door. Maybe. When they stopped, he noticed Hudson’s hands moving, but he didn’t know what Hudson was saying, so he frowned back at him.
Not wanting to touch Hudson any more than he had to, Teague attempted to stand up on his own. “Fuck. Why’s the room spinning so damn much?” And who stretched it? The last part he kept to himself because his lips felt funny.
He peered up at Hudson at the same time those penetrating green eyes glared back at him. He was tempted to ask him what his problem was, but then…
Son of a bitch.
Hudson’s hand dove into Teague’s pocket, dangerously close to… Oh, fuck. Just a little to the left…
No, wait. Not to the left. He wasn’t supposed to want Hudson touching him.

Review

In a perfect world…in a fairy tale world, the prince and the princess live happily ever after. But in the Mafia world, there’s no such thing as happily ever after – the future and even the present are not easily controlled nor are they guaranteed in an environment where guns, betrayal, and payback reign.

But love can be found in the most unusual and complicated places because it transcends boundaries and lives and breathes life into even those people who are empty…who are doing nothing more than existing. Love found Sergio and Andi, but fate had other plans for them and took her away from him too quickly, leaving him broken and angry.

And now, fate has a new agenda – a new story to tell – one that begins with pain, heartbreak, and hatred, but how it finishes is still undetermined, and all lovers of fairy tales know that it’s how the story ends that matters the most.

So there’s still hope that the cold-hearted, beastly Mafia prince can become the man who his first fair maiden knew he could be in order to protect, love, and cherish his true princess even if he thought he already had.

I never doubted that Rachel Van Dyken would heal her readers and Sergio after Elude; I knew it would take time, and it would be both frustrating and heartbreaking, but Sergio’s story was just beginning, so he and readers had to move on…had to let go of what he and Andi had and allow him to love again regardless of how much he refused to do so.

Andi was an incredible heroine – one that will stay with me even as the series continues, but it’s because of what she taught Sergio and how she wanted him to live after she was gone that allowed me to see all of the possibilities in front of Sergio instead of the pain and sadness of her loss.

Val is nothing like Andi, and it absolutely had to be that way – Val is not Sergio’s replacement for Andi. They are two very different people, and it’s because of the type of man Andi molded Sergio into that will allow him to take care of a sheltered, innocent Val after he learns to let Val into his heart.

Getting Sergio’s perspective in Empire was essential for me because without it, I don’t think I would have truly understood his harsh treatment of Val or how conflicted his feelings were right from the start. Sergio is a complex man, and he gave himself to Andi when he didn’t think he could…when he didn’t think anyone could break through his armor, and now he’s supposed to do it again because it’s his destiny to do so – I definitely understand his anger and his fear. He was already broken once and now he has to risk it again, knowing that the outcome could be the same because the world they live in is not exactly the safest place to be. If Sergio would have accepted his fate early on, I would have had a bigger problem with him than I did with his mistreatment of Val throughout the story.

Val is a soft spoken but fierce heroine. She may have been kept in the dark about her true heritage, but once she understands it, even if she’s afraid, she embraces her place by Sergio’s side and refuses to cower to his beastly actions, and it’s Val’s fragility and innocence that finally breaks through to Sergio and allows his heart to open up to her.

Rachel Van Dyken’s Eagle Elite series is absolutely one of my favorite series of all time. The Mafia world she created and continues to expand and alter showcases her skill at constructing a setting that becomes a dominant character as the story line progresses. The heroes and heroines of the series are so different, illustrating the complexity of the human spirit in a variety of ways and showing what finding the right person, even in a dark and dangerous world, can restore people’s faith in humanity and allow them to have some peace in all of the chaos.

Excerpt

“Taxi.” I held up my hand. “It’s too cold to walk.”

“Is it?”

“For those of us who have hearts,” I said under my breath.

He paused and then burst out laughing. “Holy shit, was that a dig at me?”

I shrugged as the taxi pulled up.

“Damn, and you’re not even apologizing.”

“It was more of a passing comment under my breath…” I got into the taxi and slid across the cold, worn vinyl seat. “But true.”

Sergio slammed the door after him. “And here I thought I was making a good impression.”

“You offered to kill me if I kissed you.”

The taxi driver frowned into the rearview mirror.

“She’s kidding,” Sergio reassured him.

I refused to let him get off that easy. “You also look at me like you want to throw up.”

Mr. Taxi Driver’s nostrils flared.

“Uh.” Sergio laughed uncomfortably. “I just have a lot on my mind.”

“The wife.”

Taxi Driver’s eyes looked like they were going to bug out of his head. Yeah, this was probably the best entertainment he’d had all day.

“I don’t talk about it,” Sergio said in a drop-the-subject voice.

“Maybe you should.”

“I have enough money to afford a therapist, thank you,” he said through clenched teeth.

“Money doesn’t buy happiness,” I fired back.

Sergio released a string of pithy curses. “Did someone spike your milk this morning during show and tell?”

“Lactose intolerant.”

“Sorry. Your Kool-Aid.” His eyes narrowed. “It’s like you’re trying to piss me off.”

Bingo. I smiled. “Funny, that’s what Dante says to me all the time. Just think of all the things you get to look forward to. Isn’t that what you said you wanted?”

Sergio looked ready to strangle me. “No. I don’t believe I asked for an annoying little sister, but if that’s what you’re offering, please don’t let me stop you. Just know, I won’t hesitate to put you over my knee if you get out of hand.”

The minute the words left his mouth. I froze.

He froze.

The taxi driver stared little laser-like holes into the rearview mirror.

And Sergio leaned toward me.

I swallowed as tension swirled around us.

He gripped me by the chin and turned my head to the side, his lips brushing my ear. “It’s like you have a death wish.”

“You wouldn’t do it.”

He pulled back as both of his eyebrows shot up, and then he looked down, like something had caught his eye.

I followed the direction of his gaze and let out a little gasp as a gun dug into my stomach.

“It’s been directed at you for the last four minutes,” Sergio said through a practiced smile. “I meant what I said. Listen well. I keep my word. Kiss me, and blood will be spilled.”

“Y-you’re a crazy person!” I hissed, shoving at his chest. “And I wasn’t going to kiss you!”

“Sure you weren’t.” He put the gun away. “Good talk though, right? Oh look, the movie theater.”

To say that I scrambled out of the car like a kid running away from her kidnapper would be a gross understatement, but the minute my feet hit the pavement, I paused.

My body told me to run.

The guy had pulled a gun.

On me.

I didn’t even watch violent movies, I’d just panicked and said the first thing that popped into my head!

And I was about to go to the theater with a guy who probably showered in blood on a daily basis and by the looks of it — got off on it.

Shivering, I forced myself to take a deep breath and wrapped my jacket tighter around my body.

That was the thing about men like Sergio, or maybe just loyalty in general. He’d promised he would keep me safe, but I wondered if that promise was only extended until I was more trouble than I was worth.

I was safe, not because of what I was to him.

But because of who my dad had been to him.

I was nothing.

And yet, a part of me still yearned to be… something.

Anything really.

Pathetic.

“Change your mind?” Sergio’s smooth voice interrupted my thoughts. He was the type of man you felt even when he wasn’t speaking. His presence was impossible to ignore, kind of like his ridiculous good looks.

Weren’t mafia guys supposed to be old?

Fat?

Chain smokers who bought Cuban cigars and sat behind large desks while counting money and ordering hits on people who pissed them off?

“No.” I finally found my voice. “I was just thinking….”

“About?” His hand touched my back, ushering me forward, but not pushing, almost as if he was giving me the option of still saying no.

I increased my pace so that I couldn’t feel the warmth of his fingertips. “Popcorn.” I turned and winked, hoping it would hide the fact that my body was shaking.

Maybe I was the crazy one.

Because he was armed.

The man was armed.

And he had no qualms about pointing his weapon at me whenever I got too close.

Huh, we’d have a happy marriage.

I guess we’d never argue, since I liked living.

And, you know, breathing.

It would suck not to make my twenty-first birthday because I didn’t fold the towels just right.

And again, I froze.

Was he that neurotic? Or was it just the closeness?

“On a scale of one to ten…” I was proud of the way I kept the shaking out of my voice. Why was I so scared? Oh right, because he’d pointed a gun, no, shoved a freaking gun into my stomach and done it with a smile on his face. “How OCD are you?”

An easy laugh escaped him as he glanced around the movie theater lobby and then back at me. “What makes you think I’m OCD?”

“Things.” I gulped then forced a smile that I didn’t feel. How was I supposed to go through an entire movie knowing he was one uncomfortable conversation away from losing it? “So?”

“What can I get you?” A teen boy looked at Sergio then smiled wider when his eyes fell to me.

Immediately, Sergio wrapped a protective arm around me, basically forcing my body to curve into his warmth. “My wife and I will have two buckets of popcorn, two packs of Sour Patch Kids, and a bottled water.”

I didn’t correct him about the water.

“Wait.” Sergio held up his hand. “Sorry, Dr. Pepper mixed with Coke.”

The teen scrunched up his face then rung us up. His eyes fell to me again then back at the register, like he was trying not to look but couldn’t help it, which was comical, since I didn’t really think I was anything to look at.

When he handed Sergio back his change I could have sworn I heard a growl from my “husband.”

As it was, he jerked the candy so hard out of the kid’s hands that I was surprised he didn’t do a front flip over the counter.

“He’s a boy,” I whispered under my breath. “No need to shoot him too.”

Sergio glanced down at me, muttered a curse. “He was staring.”

“He looked about one science project away from solving world hunger via his mom’s basement… hardly the type of guy that I’d date.”

“Date?” Sergio said it so loudly the people in front of us waiting to show the attendant their tickets jumped and then turned around. “What the hell do you mean date?”

Crap. I’d messed up again.

My palms went sweaty while my face felt numb with fear. Regardless of how pretty he was to look at — I was finally fully aware of how dangerous he was to me.

To everyone around me.

Sweat trickled down my lower back as I gulped down more soda and shrugged. “I just mean, he’s not my type.”

“No shit he isn’t, because you don’t get a type anymore.”

“Right.” I licked my lower lip, pretending not to be scared, pretending to be the brave person I wasn’t was wearing on me.

By the time we made it into the theater I was dizzy.

It was too much all at once.

“So…” Sergio’s voice was in my ear. I jumped a foot. He frowned as if he couldn’t figure out why I’d be so jumpy. “Dante sits behind you, right?”

“Right.” I exhaled in relief. I forgot. It wasn’t a date. It was a challenge. He’d called me his sister, so therefore he was my brother, right? Hah. I relaxed a bit as I pointed to a seat a few rows back and quickly stole the goodies out of his hands then made my way to my own seat before he could object.

The credits started rolling.

And I found myself ducking in the chair.

The hair on the back of my neck stood on end.

As if I was being watched — because I was.

Ten minutes into the movie, I was so stressed out, I almost burst into tears. My back was to him.

Wasn’t that a big no-no? My back was to the dude with the gun.

Even though he was supposed to protect me with the gun, all bets were off now.

Sweat pooled in the palms of my hands.

The music rose as one of the actresses ran down the stairs screaming.

I couldn’t take it.

And then, a body sat down next to me.

Sergio gave me a suspicious look then put a seat between us.

I exhaled.

But it wasn’t relief.

At least I knew where he was.

And where the gun was, he was right handed, so there was that.

I finally allowed myself to relax enough to watch the movie when I saw Sergio’s right hand duck into his jacket.

I gripped the plastic arm rests, my fingers digging into the cheap sticky plastic material as he slowly pulled something out.

He turned.

And I flinched so hard that there was no mistaking what I thought he was doing.

Even though he had grabbed a black cell phone.

The damage was done.

My entire body shook as a big fat tear escaped, I tried to wipe it away but I wasn’t fast enough.

“S-sorry.” I shoved past him and ran.

But my body was too scared.

Too tired

To make it very far.

IDOL by Kristen Callihan

Release Day: June 7, 2016

Idol VIP

Libby

I found Killian drunk and sprawled out on my lawn like some lost prince. With the face of a god and the arrogance to match, the pest won’t leave. Sexy, charming, and just a little bit dirty, he’s slowly wearing me down, making me crave more.

He could be mine if I dare to claim him. Problem is, the world thinks he’s theirs. How do you keep an idol when everyone is intent on taking him away?

Killian

As lead singer for the biggest rock band in the world, I lived a life of dreams. It all fell apart with one fateful decision. Now everything is in shambles.

Until Liberty. She’s grouchy, a recluse —and kind of cute. Scratch that. When I get my hands on her, she is scorching hot and more addictive than all the fans who’ve screamed my name.

The world is clamoring for me to get back on stage, but I’m not willing to leave her. I’ve got to find a way to coax the hermit from her shell and keep her with me. Because, with Libby, everything has changed. Everything.

Excerpt

“You know,” I say conversationally, as I kick back, “I want to fuck you right now.”

Libby jerks as if pinched and sits a little straighter, before getting a hold of herself and slouching as if she’s completely chill. Cute.

She gives me a smirk and sips her water before drawling, “And what? Mark your territory? Assert your manly dominance?”

“Yep.” I slide my gaze to hers. “But mostly I just want to fuck you all the time.”

God, I love the way her lips part and body flushes with heat. So subtle, but there all the same. It makes me hard as steel, my balls squeezing tight. I don’t look at her but pretend I’m observing the room. The lights are dimming for the movie now, the empty chairs in front of us obscuring our lower halves.

Slowly my hand falls to space between us and smooths along her hip. She delicately shivers as my fingers trace down her thigh.

“What about you,” I murmur, lightly toying with her skirt in the darkening room. “You want to fuck me, baby doll?”

“Right now, I want to kick you,” she gets out between clenched teeth. “Keep your hands to yourself. There are nosy ass people everywhere.”

“They’re all watching the movie. Not us.” Focusing on the screen, I keep my expression neutral as I ease my hand under her skirt. Her skin is smooth and warm. The movie starts in a blast of music and the familiar old logo as I trace over her knee and up her soft thigh. “And that wasn’t a ‘no.’”

She makes a cute growl in the back of her throat, but her legs part just enough to give me room to delve between them. Her inner thighs are hot and damp, and my cock twitches.

The storyline rolls along, my touch idly roams. Libby remains utterly still but I can practically feel the tension vibrating within her. When the tip of my finger skims the crease where her thigh meets her hip, her breath catches, legs parting wider.

“Have I mentioned how much I appreciated this new skirt-filled wardrobe?” I whisper, lightly drawing circles along her skin.

“Brenna’s idea.” Her hips shift just a bit, following my touch. “Right now, I’m missing my shorts.”

I smile, my eyes on the screen, my fingers drifting to the edge of her panties. “Later, you can put them on and we’ll play ‘Fuck the Farmer’s Daughter.’”

She grunts, a stifled laugh, which turns to a strangled whimper when I pluck her panties. Her voice turns breathy. “I’m trying to watch the damn movie. I’m not interested in fooling around.” She moves a tiny fraction, nudging against my finger.

In the dark, I grin, heat and lust pulling my abs tight. “I’m sorry,” I say, not sorry at all, “But I don’t believe you. I’m gonna have to check.”

The Final Chase

Excerpt

I don’t like dirt, and I don’t really have a fondness for animals, either. In my opinion, it was a testimony to my love for my niece, Natalie, that I was sitting at Wild Rescue, surrounded by both. Natalie, who was turning seven, loved animals, and wanted to have a cool birthday party with her friends. In her eyes, the exotic animal rescue center was the best thing ever. I was just waiting for an animal to escape and eat me. I had bad luck like that sometimes.

Just a few days ago, I was standing outside my salon when a dog peed on my stilettos. I kid you not. The little thing lifted its little leg and leaked on me, then sashayed off with its bedazzled collar winking in the sun. It was traumatizing, to say the least.

“Auntie Cammy! You have to come see this wallaby. You can feed it, too! Come on!” Little Natalie grabbed my hand and pulled me toward the little fuzzy creature. Although, what really caught my eye was the man squatting down next to the fuzz ball. Big, blond, and filled out his jeans and flannel pretty well. My little B-cup boobies perked right up. I could stand to pet him a little. He gave Natalie a handful of some sort of feed and held her hands out to the creature. It didn’t look too bad. Maybe I could give this a shot for her.

“Here you go Mrs….?” The man trailed off, as if asking a question. My, my, he was quite flirty already.

“No Mrs. here. The name is Cammy.” I squatted down as best as I could in my tea length dress. It was a birthday party, after all; who didn’t want to wear a pretty dress to a birthday party?

“Just hold out your hand,” he said, with a hint of a country accent. Ooh, I liked that. My blue eyes connected with his brown. Yeah, I could totally tap that if I wanted to. I held out my hand and he placed some little pellets in my palm. Big hands. I wondered if he was big everywhere.

My gaze drifted down to the little kangaroo-looking thing. I was getting a little nervous. It hopped from Natalie’s hand over to mine and sniffed it. I bit my lip, waiting to see if it would be a nice little creature and eat the food then move on, or if it would do something horrible. I felt its little muzzle touch my hand, making me audibly sigh my relief.

“Wallabies are sweet creatures; this one here is named Dundee.” The man looked at me, then down at Dundee. Dundee probably wouldn’t be slaying any crocodiles soon, but he wasn’t so bad.

Then the pain hit.

“HOLY HELL! OW! OH MY GOD THAT HURTS!” That fucker bit me. Bit me hard. I fell back on my ass, bright pink panties on display for all the little kiddies to see. I didn’t care. I might not have a finger on my left hand anymore! I panicked. Somehow while holding my left hand with my right, I managed to get to my feet.

“I need a doctor! Call the paramedics!” I screeched at the flannel man while he looked at me like I was crazy.

“Let me see your hand please, ma’am.” He held out his to me. I looked at him in disgust. He told me that thing was sweet. Obviously not!

“No, thank you. Just point me to where I can find a first aid kit, please.” I calmed my tone. I subtly felt that all my fingers were still attached, but I bet that bite broke some skin. I would fix myself up. I didn’t need some man in flannel who had dirt covering his shoes tending to my wounds. Yeah, I was not in a nice mood right now. Being bit to hell would turn anyone.

“Just follow that trail to the lodge. Ask for Jake.” He threw his hands up in surrender and then turned his attention back to the vicious beast. When I turned to follow said trail, I noticed everyone at the party was looking at me. Shit.

“I’m good, just going to the lodge. I have to wash my hands and pee.” I avoided the what the hell look coming from my older sister and fled towards the lodge in search of a man named Jake.

I passed a tall fence that looked like it went on for a good acre or so. I wondered what lived in there. I got my answer when a pack of wolves ran by. I swear one looked at me like I was a juicy steak, but it could have just been me. I saw a house up ahead with a little sign that said The Lodge. It was a two story ranch-style home. Not really a lodge, but whatever. It supposedly held my salvation.

I stepped up the wooden stairs, my heels clicking as I made my way to the bright red door. I knocked, no reply. I knocked again and called out a greeting. Nothing. Peeking in the window next to the door, I saw a table covered with papers but no one in sight.

Voices hit my delicate ears, and it sounded like they were coming from around the house. I walked along the wrap-around porch and saw a barn. Those voices started up again, so I stepped down the stairs and walked the ten yards over to the red barn. It was cute. I really needed to get that first aid kit.

“All right, let’s see if Ole Gemma here is having a foal. Jake, you can handle the exam. I’ve taught you and this will be good for the future if she is.” An older male voice told Jake. JAKE! I quickened my pace towards the voice, looking over the wooden fence at the men.

“OH, HELL NO!” I couldn’t believe what my eyes were seeing.

In the first second, time seemed to slow. I saw sexy brown hair, and a trimmed beard running along a chiseled jaw, and perfect lips. Oh, and one of the hottest bods I had ever laid eyes on. He was lean, but had big muscles bulging from his arms.

In the next second, that is where everything went wrong. Those bulging muscles in his arms? Well one of those arms was elbow-deep in a horse’s ass.

Ass.

Yep, a horse’s ass.

Eyes of both gentlemen turned towards me.

“Why do you have your whole arm up a horse’s ass?” My injury was forgotten. I couldn’t understand what I was seeing.

“We are doing a rectal exam to see if the lady is in the family way,” said the older man, who was not fisting a horse. I didn’t speak. I was still in what the hellmode.

“We can feel the uterus this way and determine size and hardness to see if she is indeed pregnant.” He tried again. I understood him this time, but still wanted to take a Lysol dip after seeing that. Tearing my eyes away from the horse’s backside, I looked at the men.

“I’m looking for Jake. The wallaby bit me and I need a first aid kit.” They stared at me.

“Please.” I added for sincerity. The one man pulled his arm out from the horse. Thank God he was wearing a very long glove. But still.Ewww.

“I’m Jake. Head into the lodge and I’ll be there in a minute. The back door is open.”
Back door jokes flooded my brain after what I had just seen, but I held them back. Didn’t need to make this moment any more awkward than it already was.

“Uh, goodluck with that.” I nodded and turned to go back to the lodge. This is what happened when a girl like me went out into the woods.

I walked up the stairs and opened the back door. My mind was still reeling from that experience. The inside of the lodge was cozy, but seriously lacked organization. It looked like someone’s home. It was a fairly open floor plan. The dining table, like I had seen earlier, had papers scattered about. The living room had a couple of dog beds on the floor and one sofa. The kitchen was pretty nice, though, with commercial appliances. Someone must spend a ton of time cooking. I was looking around when the back door opened. I turned to see Jake, who had melt-your-panties blue eyes that were looking straight at me.

“I didn’t catch your name, Miss?” Oh God, his voice. His voice sounded like rain during a summer storm. Soothing, but powerful. That power ran through my veins, making me shiver. Cue wet panties. I shook my head.

“Cammy. Just Cammy. I need a first aid kit.” He took a couple steps toward me. Hello, gorgeous.

“Because the wallaby bit you.” He stated. His eyes scanned over me, watching me. It was a little unnerving and arousing. Lord, I needed to get laid.

“Yes.” I felt like we were in one of those scenes in a book where the heroine takes steps back while defying the hero, as he stalks towards her, pinning her against the wall. Why? It just seemed intense for such little words.

“May I see your hand please, Cammy?” I won’t even dignify the feelings I got from hearing him say my name. I held my hands out to him and slowly unwrapped my right from my left. His larger, tan hands took hold of mine. Tingles shot up my arm and down the rest of me. Oh,my! Then a tinge of pain entered the picture. My middle finger had a bite mark around it. Nothing serious, but it should be cleaned. Maybe I had been a little over dramatic.

“Looks okay. I’ll go get you some hand wipes.” He let go of my hand and headed into the kitchen. I took a moment to appreciate the fine specimen of manliness as he walked away. He had a nice ass. His jeans and Henley shirt did not hide what was underneath at all. When he came back, I continued my appraisal. He had nice hair, short and chestnut brown. Not styled. His skin looked pretty good, too. Tan. No freckles. Those eyelashes. Man, I had women in my salon spend tons of money to have eye lashes like that.

“Here. I think you’re gonna live,” he teased. Normally I would have found that jab funny, but I was still traumatized from everything that had occurred in the past hour. My natural-born defiance reared its cute red head.

“Yeah, well, you should teach your animals not to bite.” There.

“They’re wild animals. Animals can bite. Maybe you shouldn’t wear such delicious-smelling hand lotion,” he commented back. His eyebrows rose and his lips grew into a smirk. I scoffed. My pomegranate and vanilla hand lotion was a staple in my life. Wait a second…

“Why are you smelling my hands? Are you going to bite them too?” Why I said that was beyond me. Sometimes things just leap out of my mouth and I have no control over it.

“I can; I am an animal, you know.” That was kind of hot. I bet this Jake would be an animal in the sack. Wild and carnal. With that thought, I decided he and I were too different. I was sundresses, high heels, and make-up. I didn’t like to get dirty. Jake was clearly about the animals, since he worked here. Probably was covered in dirt all day and wouldn’t know the first thing about a girl like me.

“I can see that. Quite the little kitten, aren’t we? Well, I need to get back to the party. Thanks for the wipes, Jake.” I blew him a kiss in true Cammy fashion and strutted out the back door. Back doors were getting quite a lot of action around here, I giggled to myself.

Review

A nickname like the play maker implies that the person has a skill set that makes things happen, and while James Martin can’t take all of the credit for how the media perceives him, he’s also not shying away from how the public eye spotlights his moves, both on and off the soccer field.

Like James, Nicole Grant embraces her sluthood. One night stands are all she’s capable of because her responsibility, first and foremost, is to her younger brother, Mikey. Keeping things only about sex is not only a rule in her slut code handbook, but it also makes it easier to stay unattached and focused on the things in her life that truly matter.

But even though James and Nicole are from two different worlds, leading two very different lives, both find themselves thinking about their night together, how strong the chemistry was between them, and what another night of sex would be like despite James’ short stay in the states and Nicole’s desperate need to not break the rules she’s always stood by.

James is so much more than he allows others to see, but through his need to prove to Nicole that they’re more than a string of one night stands, he lets his other qualities shine through – he’s a caring, honorable, and compassionate man who may lead a charmed life, but with Nicole, he realizes that there’s so much more life has to offer and he’s ready and willing to make those things happen with Nicole and her brother by his side.

The dynamics McCoy creates between James and Nicole prove, right from the start, that their time together will be something they both want to hold onto despite Nicole’s protestations, and as James gets Nicole to let down her walls and makes her understand that she doesn’t have to give up who she is and what’s important in her life in order to choose a relationship with the right guy.

This was my first read by Katie McCoy, and it definitely won’t be my last. McCoy weaves comedy with a bit of angst…steam with snark…romance with highly erotic scenes and creates a great cast of characters, both main and supporting, who add to the overall atmosphere of the text and make readers want to hear the stories of those who have the main characters’ backs even more.

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Post – Fight

Cain

The sound of her heels, retreating from me, echoed down the hallway in the opposite direction of the gathered crowd. I was still dressed for the fight. I’d rubbed a towel down my body, as I didn’t care to change or shower yet. I needed to get to her before she escaped me again. Following behind the click of her heels, I called her name a second time, commanding her to stop. She didn’t listen. For the slightest second, it sounded like the tapping on the tile increased. I sped up my pace, determined to catch her.

“Sofie,” I called out. The tension built. She was going to run. My hand reached out for her, as I drew closer. My stride lengthened. Her tight skirt curved over her hips, holding her snug ass, and trapping her steps. High heels prevented her from moving any faster, despite her determined hustle. This wasn’t how I remembered her dressing. She wore loose skirts and fitted t-shirts, except on the second night. An image of a black dress being removed from delicate shoulders flitted through my memory. My eyes fell to her ass again, recalling what was under that shapely skirt. I’d seen it, felt it, tasted it, and I wanted it again.

“Sofie,” I demanded. Her name was more than a plea; it was a command to stop. We were headed in a circle. The sound of the gathered crowd was echoing back toward us. She was trapped. If she kept going, she’d lead us directly into the paparazzi pit. Cameras would capture her and I didn’t want that. I didn’t want to explain who she was to the public. Not yet. I needed a private reunion first.

Her pace slowed. My outstretched fingers captured her upper arm and tugged her to a halt. Her body was gently slammed against the cement block wall behind her, and my arms caged her in.

“Sofie.” My breath caught as I scanned her face. Bright blue eyes under a pinched brow looked briefly at me, then avoided my gaze. Her face was flushed. I remembered that pink skin. Another vision flashed in my memory of her questioning me over a wooden wine bar. She was interested in my anatomy at that moment. I wanted her to be interested in my anatomy again. A certain part of me definitely had her attention, if she wished for it. I wasn’t only hard; I was towering straight out for her. My dick knew what it wanted. It was drawn to the lyrical whispers of what I assumed would be wet folds beneath black panties.

Another vision flashed through my mind. This included stripping her of black lingerie: simple, satin, and molded to the shape of her. I’d never seen anything so tempting, until she was removed of it. White skin, pink nipples, and a dark mound pointing to a treasure were the most beautiful colors I’d ever seen, next to her eyes, which were glaring at me as I assessed her face.

“Cain,” she said sharply. Her head lifted, holding it high; she was pissed. There was no other way to describe her expression. She hated me. I couldn’t exactly blame her, but it wasn’t the reunion I anticipated. It wasn’t the reunion I expected. It wasn’t the reunion I was going to accept.

“My sweet temptation,” I hissed to her. My tongue licked my lips, eager to taste hers. She swallowed, and my eyes widened at the smooth roll of her skin against her throat. My hand slipped up to her shoulder and my pelvis fell forward, instinct drawing my dick to her. I flinched uncontrollably as it hit her lower abdomen. It craved some place lower on her body.

She didn’t push me away. In fact, her hands were splayed against the cool cement behind her. Her eyes shone bright beyond those tempting red glasses, and bright red lips matched, sucking in air at the invasion of my body against hers. I wanted those lips to suck somewhere else. She’d done it before. I knew how sweet she could be, but her eyes were harder now. Those lips wanted nothing to do with any part of my body.

My hand continued to travel up the tender skin of her throat, and she swallowed hard again, trembling beneath my touch. She wasn’t repulsed by me, but she was frightened. I didn’t want her to be afraid of me, but she needed to be concerned. If my father found her, there would be trouble like she’d never known before. Her sweetness did not understand the depths of evil associated with me.

“Don’t touch me,” she growled.

On second thought, perhaps she did.

My hand slipped into her chestnut locks and tugged gently, but enough to remind her that I was a strong man. I wouldn’t hurt her. In fact, I was certain I hadn’t hurt her in the past. I was the one that suffered.

“One night, you longed for my touch,” I whispered harshly, drawing my mouth closer to hers. “In fact, I remember someone sweetly asking for it.”

My hands slithered in opposite directions. One surveyed the hilly swells of side breast while the other travelled the valley of her abdomen until it rose over curvy hips. I gripped a fist full of material and tugged it upward, jostling her body with the rough hitch of her skirt.

“If I remember correctly, you wanted me,” I purred against her moist skin. Her fear produced a sheen of sweat that covered her face. My nose dragged along her jaw, then dipped down her neck. Holding herself still, her hands remained flat against the wall to her sides. My hips pinned her in place as the skirt rose.

My fingers graced the soft skin of her thigh. She flinched and I pressed firmly forward. There was no doubt of my excitement. Dressed only in my fighting shorts, my bare chest brushed close to her generous breasts, which had been covered with my hands and mouth in the past. I wanted to reenact those memories, but my fingers had other intentions. In a jagged drag of skin against skin, I gripped her thigh, climbing upward, heading for the fruit of my desire.

“Do you still want me?” I whispered into her neck. “Do you remember?” I groaned as a thick digit delved through the warm moisture of folded skin, ripe for what I intended. I wanted inside her. Damp with desire, I slipped aggressively into her. I demanded she remember as I added a second finger. Her breath hitched as she moaned and heavy lids closed.

“Look at me,” I commanded. My forehead almost rested on hers, but I held back enough to stare into her eyes. I wanted her to see me, remember me, remember what I’d done to her. How she felt under me, wrapped within her. I grunted as my dick flinched, my skin too tight. This temptress had to recall what she had done to me, as well. I was going to come undone being this close to her, and yet she was so far away.

Blue eyes pierced mine, but they still contained a softness within them. I didn’t want to believe my sweet temptation could rot. She was spoiled by me, but she wasn’t ruined. She was stronger than that.

“Do you remember?” My fingers increased their exploration. It was a renewed excavation. They rediscovered what they missed. Sliding in and out, she joined my pace. Her hips moved slowly, then increased, matching the beat inside her.

“That’s it, my sweet.” I pulled back to watch her lids droop, then fight to open wide. “Good girl,” I rasped, as I brushed back a stray hair but didn’t falter in my rhythm between her legs. Her hands released from the wall. Palms flattened against my shoulders then wrapped around them as best they could. She had delicate hands. Tender and gentle. They had teased as she had tugged me and stroked me the first time. I jolted and my hips pressed toward her, but my hand was the focus. Her fingers dug into bare skin covered in tattoos of the snake I was. Sharp, blunt nails soon pinched into me as her hips rolled and her luscious center rocked.

“I want you to remember,” I commanded. “Remember where I’ve been. Who I am.” My fingers took on a life of their own, and they worked hard, digging deeper into the tender cavern of warmth, wet and ready for me. My thumb flicked over the sensitive pearl outside of her. Her breath hitched. Nails gripped into hard skin. She didn’t have claws, not my girl, but she was latching onto me. That’s exactly what I wanted.

“Tell me you didn’t forget,” I whispered, my voice dropping as my pace continued. She didn’t answer me and I stopped. The blue rivers turned to ice as she glared at me. I was the devil. And I would break this reunion, if she didn’t play my game.

She shook her head, refusing to speak. I pulled out of her quickly, feeling the release of her juices as they slid down her leg. Her eyes narrowed only slightly. Then she said my name. It was hardly more than a squeak, a meek plea, an unanswered question. Her nails slowly released me. Fingers peeled upward from my skin. I was going to lose her.

Fingers slammed into her and her head gently fell back. She sucked in a harsh breath, as I demanded her recollection without words. I wanted her to relive the memory of what I had done to her. Only me.

I worked fast and her fingers lay back against my warm skin. Nails made tender impressions on my shoulder. She could mark me. I wouldn’t care. She’d already scarred my heart.

“Cain?” she questioned, but I knew the answer. She was ready to burst. Her tender fruit had been plucked and she craved what came next. That first bite. The sound of my name almost undid me, but it would take more than that for me to be satisfied. For her, the flick of my thumb unleashed her. Nails burrowed deep, her eyes shuddered closed, and her head tipped back. She clenched hard, squeezing my hand between her thighs. My dick practically danced, but I had been the king of denial. I would not have her yet. This was only a reminder.

As my attention slowed, and I spread fingers through folds so wet they wept, my forehead came to hers.

“Tell me you remember?” I pleaded. My heart fell to my stomach as I held my breath.

“I don’t think I’ll ever be able to forget.”

I pulled back in surprise, my eyes widened. My expression had to betray a strange sense of glee.

“I’ll never forget,” she whispered, averting her eyes as she looked down at her raised skirt and my retreating hand. She pushed the material downward hastily then shoved my wrist away from her.

“I’ll never forget…that you’re an asshole.” Propelled backward as she braced against my chest, I stumbled in surprise at her use of profanity. My girl didn’t swear, but the venom in her voice proved she’d changed. My sweet temptation was tainted by the poison of me. What I’d done to her. I let her escape as her words sliced through me. I was an asshole.

Review

Cain Callahan is a lost soul in a garden of temptation, greed, and sin, but at one point, in the arms of his sweetest temptation, Sofie Vincentia, he was found, and for a small amount of time, he was untainted and repentant. But that paradise was destroyed by Cain’s father – the man who made Cain into the man he is by harsh words and damaging fists. Once out of Eden, Cain goes right back to his sinful ways despite the vow he made and the heart he gave away.

After a year without Sofie, Cain realizes the error of his ways and truly understands that one man’s paradise is another man’s hell, so as he tries to prove himself to Sofie and disentangle himself from the devil, Cain finds himself in the biggest fight of his life, not only for the woman he has grown to love, but the man his mother always wanted him to be.

It’s easy to see who Cain is under his father’s control and who he is when he actually tries to not be his father’s son. In Paradise Fought, Abel’s story, as well as Paradise Tempted, there are two sides to Cain’s personality – one clearly driven by and for himself and the other when he allows his father to command him. But in Paradise Found, Cain’s greatest sin and salvation becomes the driving force in his life, forcing him to strike out against the hell his father has placed him in and return to paradise – the place he learned how to love and how to give instead of take.

Cobra is the perfect fighter name for Cain because he’s a snake who bites with his fists in the ring and tempts with his pleasurable ways in the bedroom, and Sofie is seduced by his charm and constantly tempted by the man she sees beneath the fighter facade.

But in order for Cain to reclaim paradise, he needs to prove to Sofie that their forbidden love is worth more than his fighting career, more than the wrath of his father, and more than his fears of giving himself to someone else when he doesn’t truly understand what love is.

Paradise Found is a text rich in biblical storylines – brother vs. brother, good vs. evil, sin vs. salvation, and while LB Dunbar crafts her own interpretations of them, they still teach lessons for a contemporary society reader that are just as worthwhile and impacting.

Synopsis

I, Makayla Alexander, am on a mission to reinvent myself. So when a super hot guy boards the plane and flashes his rock hard abs, I pay attention. When he sits next to me and offers me his nuts, I can’t resist. But when I choke on them and he tells me I need to work on my gag reflex, I realize I might be in over my head.

Before I know it we’re in the lavatory and attempting to join the Mile High Club. Let me just say this…anyone who tells you it’s easy to get it on at 37,000 feet isn’t telling you the truth. After the flight attendant busts us for getting frisky in the air, the only thing that can ease my total and complete mortification is the simple fact that I am never going to see him again.

Hours later, I can’t help but wonder if fate will ever allow me to become a new version of myself.

Because Fate, she’s a fickle bitch.

Case in point…my seatmate is my new next-door neighbor.

Even with the whole fate thing we have going on, we are so not meant to be together. He’s all cool and sexy in that make love not war kind of way. Guys like him are dangerous. With that bring-you-to-your-knees body, that handsome-as-hell face, and that dirty, dirty mouth, I guarantee one glance from him wets every girl’s bikini bottoms.

And then there’s me…the quirky girl looking to find herself in California. All I want to do is learn to let loose. Say words like peace and groovy. Bury my toes in the sand. Who knows, maybe even have sex on the beach.

Unable to get him out of my head, I entertain the thought of being more than just friends. I know the idea is absurd. And yet, I go with it. You see Camden Waters gets me. Really gets me. Like no other guy has before.

On this 7-mile stretch of paradise, I decide to keep things simple and just have fun…that is until fate decides to screw with me, again.

Can two people hell-bent on finding themselves realize the search should have ended the day they met? Find out in No Pants Required—a sexy, funny, romantic stand-alone, that will have you hurrying to grab your bathing suit and rushing to the beach to check out every lifeguard on duty.

COVER REVEAL, EXCERPT, AND GIVEAWAY: Bad Apple by Lani Lynn Vale

Title: Bad Apple

Series: The Uncertain Saints MC Novel

Author: Lani Lynn Vale

Release Date: September 1, 2016

Genre: MC Romance

The road to hell is paved with good intentions…

Apple “Core” Drew needs The Uncertain Saints MC like he needs air. He is barely making it through the day, and each one that goes by takes him closer and closer to hell. Literally, not figuratively.

He’s a half breath away from killing himself—maybe not by taking his own life, but he’s not against making someone else do it for him.

Then he meets her. One of his club member’s sister, and his whole outlook on life changes.

And not for the better.

Just as surely as he ruined his life, he ruins her life, too. One lapse in judgement on his part, and his one night of happiness turns into the worst nine months of his life.

Which he would’ve thought was damn near impossible with the things he’s done and seen.

She never saw it coming…

It was the beard. The beard made her do it.

That is a good excuse for having sex with a man she barely knows, isn’t it?

Yeah, who was she kidding? It wasn’t the beard. It was the way he looked so dejected and solemn. The sad look in his eyes pulls her in, and the way his rough hands touch her makes her stay.

All she wants to do is take that look out of his eyes, but the consequences to her actions only make things worse, not better.

One day is all she gets, and he’s not willing to give her more.

Until she dies, that is. Then it’s too late.

“Your brother’s gonna kick my ass you know,” I said.
“Why?” she asked.
I snorted.
“A, because he doesn’t like me.  Two because he doesn’t like me,” I explained seriously.
“My brother’s suspicious,” she amended.  “And he doesn’t hate you.  If he hated you, you’d be treated like my brother.”
“And how’s that?”  I asked in confusion, crossing my arms over my chest.
“Like a common criminal,” she expounded.  “Ridley keeps him under surveillance, and he doesn’t get to come around me, him, or any of the club members.”
“Hmm,” I started walking faster.  “Interesting.”
She nodded.
“He’s not here,” she informed me.
“Okay,” I said, my eyes following the movement of her finger as she brought one manicured finger up to her mouth and bit lightly on the nail.
“Do I have to spell it out for you?” She lifted her brows, her finger still rubbing lightly across her bottom lip.
I rebalanced my weight on both feet as I readied myself for whatever was going to come out of her mouth next.
I wasn’t disappointed.  It was quite shocking, to say the least.
“I want you to fuck me,” she said.
She didn’t lead up to it or anything, just blurted that shit out there.
Which might’ve been why I couldn’t think of anything to say to that.
“I’m…” I hesitated.
“You’re a pussy,” she said, brows raised.
My eyebrows lowered.
“That’s certainly not what I was going to say,” I informed her.  “Which you would’ve known had you not interrupted me.”
“Most people finish their sentences in a timely manner,” she said stiffly.
She was getting pissed.
Interesting.
“Desperate much?”  I asked her.  “You have to proposition guys that don’t want you in an attempt to get what you want?”
Her mouth dropped open in affront.
“You’re shitting me right now, aren’t you?” she asked, hurt evident in her voice.
“Yes,” I said, contrite.  “But you surprised me is all.  And I’m not a pussy.”
“Well, what are you?” she asked primly.
“Honestly?”  I asked.
She nodded.
“Yes.”
“I’m trying to get into a club that my father thinks’ll be good for my PTSD and anger management,” I answered.  “And to do that, I need to not piss off the members; for example, your brother.”
Her mouth thinned.
“My brother’s already let you know that he doesn’t like you.  What’s sleeping with his sister going to change?” she challenged.
I paused, unsure how to answer that.
“Well…” on one hand she was correct.  He wasn’t going to hate me any less if I slept with his sister.
And I did find her attractive.
Extremely attractive.
She was gorgeous.
And I’m not talking in a girl next door kind of way.  I’m talking about a ‘keep her locked down in baggy pants and a sweat shirt’ kind of way and still beat the men off with a stick.
She’d be hell on the heart, that was for sure.
Her long, black curly hair came to about mid back, and her porcelain white skin seemed almost luminescent under the light of the moon.
She had long legs that looked fucking superb in those tight jeans she had on, not to mention the black Jack Daniel’s t-shirt she was wearing, cut up in that fashion that women seemed to like now-a-days, was only accentuating her curves.
And what little denial I tried to hang on to by the tips of my fingers slipped away, leaving only one thing in my mind.
I couldn’t pass this opportunity up.
Not after I’d been lusting after the woman for so long, even though she didn’t know that.
“You really want this?” I asked her, crowding her so close that she started backing up out of reaction.
She licked her lips, and then nodded.
“Yes,” she said surely.  “Or I wouldn’t have brought it up.”
“You know who I am?” he asked.  “You’re not intoxicated and asking for things that you shouldn’t be asking for in this condition.”
She laughed in my face.

“Oh, honey. Now you’re just trying to think up an excuse to back out, aren’t you?” she glared.
