SYNOPSIS
Alexandria’s drug-dealing boyfriend, Joel, isn’t exactly the white knight she’s always dreamed of, but she can’t deny the crazy connection they have. She would do anything for him, including helping him sell drugs in order to fit perfectly into his world.
After catching Alexandria dealing for Joel, instead of turning her into the cops, Alexandria’s mother forces her to move to her grandparents’ farm in West Virginia. Spending the summer in the country, away from Joel, is the last thing Alexandria wants to do. But lucky for her, the sexy farmhand, Landon, who helps out around her grandparents’ place, is a very nice distraction. There are numerous ways a person can be broken; it can occur gradually over time due to multiple incidences or one catastrophic event can irrevocably change him/her. What breaks Alexandria are a few major situations that are, for the most part, out of her control, and once they occur, her life is never the same. The first incident that alters Lexi’s life dramatically is when her parents send her to live with her grandparents because the choices she has been making since she’s been with her boyfriend, Joel, have been both illegal and destructive. This change in her life threatens to break her because all of her insecurities are brought out, and she has too much time on her hands to do anything but question who she’s become since getting together with Joel. From there, a series of events, both tragic and dramatic, continue to tear Lexi down until she hardly recognizes who she’s become. As the story progresses, readers question whether or not she’ll be able to piece herself back together after all that has happened.
I’m a big K.A. Robinson fan. I’ve read every one of her books, and her writing keeps getting better and better. In my opinion, Breaking Alexandria is her best work so far. It has every single characteristic that I look for in a book. The storyline lures readers in from the very beginning, and Lexi’s transformation from everything that transpires is realistically presented. Lexi is one hell of a heroine; she’s a feisty hard ass who isn’t afraid to tell it like it is, but there’s also a softer side to her that not many people see. K.A. does a great job of showing Lexi’s evolvement as she pulls herself out of her depression and is determined to live and love again. This is a story about finding one’s true self through tragedy…about letting go of past mistakes and finding the strength to live again. I highly recommend it!

If there were a medal for sneaking out of the house without getting caught the most times, I’d be the recipient for sure. I smiled to myself as I slowly slid open my bedroom window. I glanced down to the yard below. It was illuminated by the streetlight across the road from our house. I squinted as I looked around, checking for movement of any kind.
