About the Author

Jodi Ellen Malpas wrote her debut series, The This Man Trilogy, in secret, worried about what people might think if they knew what her imagination was capable of. She was shocked herself. But she finally found the courage to unleash her creative streak and self-published THIS MAN – the first book of the This Man Trilogy – in October 2012. She took a chance on the story with a hero who soon became one of modern day fictions most prolific alpha male characters. Jesse Ward – also affectionately known as The Lord of The Manor, sparked incredible reactions from women across the globe and catapulted Jodi into the world of women’s fiction.

Jodi went on to self-publish the second book in the trilogy, Beneath This Man in Jan 2013, just before Grand Central Publishing, part of the Hachette Book Group, picked up the popular trilogy and the unknown Jodi. The third book of the trilogy, This Man Confessed, took Jodi to the top of the bestsellers lists, earning her the proud title of #1 New York Times Bestselling Author. This Man has since been voted one of the top romance novels of all time.

With so much love, enthusiasm and a thirst for her words from her readers, Jodi suddenly wasn’t afraid of her imagination anymore. She went on to write The One Night Trilogy with the delectable and mysterious Miller Hart, and stole the hearts of her readers once again. Her first stand-alone novel, THE PROTECTOR, released in September 2016 and has since been nominated for a Reviewers’ Choice Best Book Award. Jodi’s next stand-alone novel. THE FORBIDDEN, is set for release in August 2017.

All seven of her published novels have hit the New York Times best sellers list – as well as the Sunday Times list and various international best seller lists. Her work is now published in over 24 languages across the world.

Jodi was born and raised in the Midlands town of Northampton, England, where she lives with her two boys and a beagle. She is a self-professed daydreamer, a mojito addict, is famous for her obsession with Converse, and has a terrible weak spot for Alpha Males. Writing powerful love stories and creating addictive characters has become her passion – a passion she now shares with her devoted readers.

#WhoRunTheWorld: Meet Your Next Heroine and Two Giveaways: Jaxxon Carter from From Rags by Suzanne Wright

#WhoRunTheWorld

Blurb

There has only been three people in Jaxxon Carter’s life who truly mattered to her. Her mum, who committed suicide. Her sister, who she hasn’t seen since her teens. And Connor McKenzie, who disappeared from her life the same day he left their foster home. The hardest part of that was that he never completely left her life because she was forever seeing him on T.V. or in magazines as a Formula One Driver. But Jaxxon refuses to live a ‘woe is me’ life, even in spite of living alone in her one-roomed flat and being expected to survive on a ridiculously low income. Then one night she is offered a modelling job and before she knows it she has been catapulted to the peak of success, gaining fame, fortune and security. Oh and a stalker.

Connor McKenzie is busy trying to shake off his crazy ex-girlfriend – another woman who thought she could get around his no marriage rule – when he sees Jaxxon on the cover of a magazine. Remembering how close they had once been, he’s shocked when she doesn’t respond to his attempts to contact her and then acts indifferently to him when they meet. But Connor can’t let it go. The only reason he had kept his hands off her ten years ago was that she had been younger than him. Now that they’re adults, he isn’t prepared to allow anything – not even Jaxxon – to stop him from having her.

Warning: This novel contains a bitchy female who curses like a sailor, a persistent alpha male who doesn’t understand the word ‘no’, and explicit hot sex in some very public places.

                       ===================================================

The reason I went all the way back to a 2012 release is because, to me, Jaxxon Carter, from Suzanne Wright’s From Rags, epitomizes the type of woman who should run this world!

And it has NOTHING to do with the fact that she can rock a kickass outfit and a high pair of stilettos; it’s because of how she doesn’t let her past define her…she doesn’t dwell on the horrible conditions she grew up in and the innocence that was taken from her because of it.

Check out the FIVE REASONS why Jaxxon Carter is one of my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE HEROINES of ALL TIME!

Reason One: Her Gritty Edge

There’s a gritty edge to Ms. Carter that was established long ago when she figured out that no one else was going to look out for her other than herself, so since that realization, she’s lived her life her way, and even though it wasn’t all that glamorous until

‘…a crap upbringing doesn’t make someone weak, it makes them strong or how else could they get through it? I’ve never liked that people seem to think that anyone who’s been brought up in care are destined to lead a life of poverty and crime. It’s postcode lottery.’

Reason Two: She Doesn’t Mince Words

There’s an intensity to Jaxxon Carter that resonates from every part of her body, but more directly from her eyes – all of her emotions come from her eyes – a ‘feral gleam’ if you will that shows others exactly what she thinks about their comments or their actions.

Doesn’t mince words – she’s crass and profane, but she’ll always give people honest because she grew up surrounded by too many lies to not tell the truth. Her bluntness may take some time for others to get used to, but once they realize that it’s not meant to hurt their feelings or harm them, people realize that the very fact that she is ‘real’ with them is what attracts them to her.

‘Here’s something for you to remember; you might have been born into money, but you came out of a vagina the same as everyone else. Popping out of one that’s rich doesn’t make you anything but lucky, or susceptible to being stuck up your own arse. Whichever.’

Reason Three: She refuses the ‘woe is me’ life

There’s no denying that Jaxxon Carter was given a shit hand growing up. Being in foster care and having a sister who wanted nothing to do with her because Leah was jealous of Jaxxon didn’t help matters either, but Jaxxon still pushed forward, protecting herself the best she could and keeping herself fed and clothed even when it seemed impossible.

‘Oh no,’ Jaxxon quickly objected as she heard the reference to Cinderella. ‘If you were hoping to find that despite my background I’m some kind of lovely young lady who birds tweet at, prepare to be disappointed. I’m a moody cow and I know it. This isn’t a Cinderella story, this is more like Harry Potter and the Gob of Ire.’

Reason Four: She doesn’t need a man to define her or to make her life worth living – she lives for herself!

Even though Connor McKenzie held Jaxxon’s heart since they were young, she refused to allow her feelings for him to determine/run her life, especially when she knew that Connor couldn’t give her anything more than amazing sex, at least she knew that’s what he thought anyway. She made a damn fine life without him and she would continue to do so after they ended their time together, and regardless of how much her heart hurt to walkway, she did because she would never allow her life to be dictated by a man and his cock, even if it was a fabulous one;)

Reason Five: She sees financial security as the biggest plus of her new life

When Richie found Jaxxon at the bar and gave her his card and a new opportunity, she definitely didn’t think her life would change as drastically as it did, and while the posh life takes some getting used to, Jaxxon loves the fact that she no longer has to worry about money or living in a dumpy apartment that is barely functional. She could care less about the fame, the extravagant parties, or the adoration; what makes Jaxxon able to put up with the shitshow that this kind of life seems to bring with it is the fact that she can take care of herself and then some.

‘What did Jaxxon like the most about this new life? Not the attention or the fancy car or the designer clothes or the constant mingling with celebs. It was the financial security; the fact that she didn’t have to fret every day about whether she’d make her rent money for afford food to last the week. What’s more, not only did she feel as though she was finally in control of the direction her life was taking, but her life was actually taking a direction instead of her just plodding along.’

About the Author

I don’t remember a time when I wasn’t writing something, whether it was stories, poems, or even songs – though I can’t carry a tune. I only have one rule when I’m writing a book which is that it has to have a happy ending. Other than that, pretty much anything goes. I write stories that I would enjoy reading and then I just hope that others will enjoy them too.

I was born and raised in England where I live with my husband (a person who doesn’t judge me for hearing voices in my head – how often do you come across people like that?), and my two demanding children.

Review

After the ending of Then There Was You, I was more than ready to get back to Rowan and Tessa’s story; I needed to understand why Rowan made the decisions he did and what it cost him to do so. I also couldn’t wait to find out what Tessa planned to do with her unexpected situation and what that meant for her future and her love for Rowan – a love that was never outwardly reciprocated in words let alone actions, especially when Rowan’s final choice put him in the arms of another woman.

I have to say that I wasn’t ready for the time jumps that take place in My Way Back to You; it caught me completely off-guard and, at first, I didn’t like or understand this fast forwarding of events, but then when I stopped to think about, I recognized that it really didn’t matter how Rowan and Tessa spent those years because the one thing readers were supposed to understand is that they didn’t spend them together…for Tessa, that time was spent building her career and becoming the independent woman she’s always been in the fashion world, reaping the benefits of her hard work and dedication. That time for Tessa was also spent trying to stop loving a man who basically cut her out of his life even after she told him that she loved him and wanted everything with him. The cyclical nature of those years meant that Tessa was successful professionally and her life was full with her responsibilities to her job, herself, and her family, but there was no one to share it with, romantically, at least, and while she tried to get over her feelings for Rowan, he still held her fragile heart in his hands.

For Rowan, those four years were spent building an empire and obtaining the goals that he gave up Tessa for in order to achieve. But his life was lacking and those years were ones of sorrow, loneliness, and contemplation, and at the center of every thought was Tessa, the woman he bleeds for but also the one that he turned his back on and gave no indication to that he would find is way back to her. It’s clear that Rowan’s years away from Tessa changed him and allowed him to truly see what/who was worth his time and dedication, and when it came down to it, Rowan knew that it was and would always be Tessa…he just now needed to prove that idea to her.

The soul-wrenching and heart-breaking antics from book one just about did me in, and while, subconsciously, I didn’t want my heart to be torn apart again in book two, I was surprised that the second part of Rowan and Tessa’s story didn’t have at least some of angsty undertone that the first half of their story did. Now, I don’t want to say that Claire Contreras made a second chance at love easy for Rowan and Tessa to achieve because they’ve both been through hell and back in a multitude of ways; it’s just that with Tessa’s secret and the amount of deception that occurred, the fact that both Tessa and Rowan can look at the big picture and move past things so easily didn’t quite mesh with my perception of what the fallout would/could be based on what happened four years ago.

But the more time I thought about Tessa and Rowan’s situation and the reasons behind their respective decisions as well as the fact that, for Rowan, it’s never been about not being in love but more the path that had to be taken in order to achieve and grow and then be able to reclaim his girl, it made sense that the fractures and bleeding would be stalled and the reparation of Rowan and Tessa’s connection would be underway, regardless of the few negative factors that were still affecting their lives and their relationship.

Going into the second half of Tessa and Rowan’s story, I thought I knew how things would play out and that they would have to fight, tooth and nail, to be together, so when things didn’t end up that way, I can’t say that I was let down, but I did need to readjust my entire view of how difficult a second shot at love for them would be, not saying that Rowan and Tessa didn’t have to adjust and forgive, but it was more a matter of when not if they would find their way back to one another.

I really enjoyed Tessa and Rowan’s Second Chances Duet; my heart bled for the outcome that occurred in the first part of their story and then, as Rowan made the necessary changes to finally go after the woman who has always been his future, it was mended and healed way sooner than I anticipated, which is definitely not a bad thing, it’s just something I didn’t anticipate which took me a bit to understand why Contreras’ hero and heroine led her this way and what it would mean for readers and for the couple all readers were cheering for from the very beginning.

I’m a huge fan of Claire Contreras; she has a way of pushing readers and characters to their limits and then finding a way to bring everything full circle in the most dramatic and pleasurable ways, and even though my expectations for the end of Tessa and Rowan’s story were completely off-base, I thoroughly enjoyed watching everything play out between these two amazing characters who deserve to be happy with the ones they love every day of their lives.

Review

Breakaway was my first book by A.M. Johnson, and I really enjoyed being a part of Mark and Stevie’s journey; it definitely wasn’t a smooth path for them because both were hesitant and playing a pretty good game of defense when it came to putting their hearts on the line again, but it was almost like these two were meant to find one another because even though their first encounter was bad timing, a year later, they found themselves face-to-face again, and this time, there was no way Mark was allowing Stevie to slip through his fingers, even if his quick and intense feelings for her scared the hell out of him.

Stevie West is a woman who readers will definitely relate to…for 13 years, she played it ‘safe,’ marrying a man who gave her stability and comfort, but what Ben didn’t give her was passion and self-confidence, and for that reason, she set herself free, not allowing her fears or insecurities to prevent her from taking control of her own life and giving herself a second chance to be the woman who laid dormant inside for way too long. The Stevie that she’s working to be is brought out quite easily by a certain Tampa Bay center, and while things between them may be happening too quickly, how Mark makes her feel about her body, about who she truly is, and about the kind of man she deserves, Stevie can’t help but give into the insane chemistry between them and while she does so with hesitancy, she also does so because a man like Mark is worth the risk.

Mark Carmelo is not quite a veteran hockey player, but when it comes to his perspective on puck bunnies and thinking with his smaller brain, Mark learned pretty early on that that kind of lifestyle was not for him. It’s more than apparent that Mark has trust issues thanks to his cheating ex and sometimes he allows his past to darken too much of his present, and while I can’t blame him for guarding himself from getting hurt again, his inability to see what was right in front of him at pivotal moments was incredibly frustrating and also a bit heartbreaking because it clearly shows just how much Mia’s betrayal scarred him.

Both Mark and Stevie are a work-in-progress when it comes to their burgeoning relationship, harboring old wounds that make them question and rethink everything.  But when they focus just on each other and what they’re building, it’s impossible to not notice just how much happier and lighter their lives are when they’re together, so as long as they remain open and honest, this second chance at love will feel like they’ve won the Stanley Cup!

Breakaway is a sweet and sexy story that gives hope to those whose previous relationships may have failed by illustrating why still believing in love and risking one’s heart is completely worth the potential pain. Mark and Stevie are an amazing couple who love with their whole hearts and while that might not have ended too well for them before, it seems that the connection they share wants them to try again; this time with the right person, and even if it’s scary and has the potential to turn out poorly, shooting for love a second time could make them feel like the champions they deserve to be.

Review

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Since he was born, Till Page has had to fight – fight the silence, the loneliness, the bitterness, and the hatred for his situation, and since he was thirteen years old, he’s fought the reality of his circumstances by escaping it, by entering a fantasy world where everything’s okay as long as he has Eliza Reynolds – his Doodle by his side, blocking everything else out.

Like Till, Eliza’s home life is absolute shit. She’s not even a blimp on her parents’ radar, so she does what she has to do to make a life for herself both in and outside the fantasy that she created with Till. Through everything, Eliza has always been Till’s biggest supporter – the one person in his corner he can count on regardless of the shitstorm life throws at them.

But all fantasies eventually come to an end, and when reality merges with the world that Till’s created with Eliza and threatens to unhinge his sense of survival, he rebels, fighting against the one thing…the one person who he should never battle with because in doing so, he risks losing his whole reason for fighting and usurping any chance he has to overcome the obstacles that he and his brothers face.

As much as I wanted to yell at Till to wake up and face his reality head on, it makes perfect sense why he needs and uses that window and that abandoned apartment as an escape and why he needed to keep Eliza separate from any other aspect of his life. Till is a proud man doing everything he can to deal with the hand he and his brothers have been dealt. But what he doesn’t realize until much later is that Eliza sustains him in a way that makes his life bearable despite the hell that he goes through. I love that Aly truly makes readers understand Till’s conflict and torment…the anguish he feels when he pushes Eliza away and the aching need he feels every day without her. Till is an incredible hero; he steps up not only for himself and Eliza, but he also does it for his brothers. He could have given up on numerous occasions, and no one would have blamed him. But the true character of a fighter is one who fights despite all the odds stacked up against him, and Till lives and breathes those characteristics.

I read and review a lot of stories, and what separates the good ones from the great ones is the heroine. Eliza has the true heart of a fighter, and she’ll fight for what she believes in until the bitter end, even when the person she’s fighting for becomes part of the battle. Eliza is extremely selfless, but she also doesn’t allow anyone to abuse her. She knows everything there is to know about Till and she gives herself to him completely, but unlike Till, she understands the reality of the situation as well, and she refuses to be used for an escape because she demands and deserves the reality of their love.

I absolutely loved Till and Eliza’s story, and the fact that it spans over a decade. What they fight through both together and as individuals proves the inner strength that people have, even when they’re sick of fighting. Till and Eliza are fantastic main characters, but what also makes Fighting Silence an amazing read are the secondary characters that surround Till and Eliza’s lives. They are just as pivotal to the success of the text as Till and Eliza because they add an extra layer to the plot and the relationships that exist in it. The ending is bittersweet for me because of the complications that arise at the end, but the idea of never giving up is definitely at the forefront of this text.

I would totally be up for a book or two about the other Page boys – there’s so much to say about Flint and Quarry and who they are that I would be the first in line to one-click their texts.

A complimentary copy was provided in exchange for an honest review.

Excerpt

He didn’t budge, but my bare feet slipped, sending me toward the ground. Impossibly fast, Till’s hand snaked out and caught my arm. But I didn’t let his chivalrous gesture douse my fire. I had six months’ worth of words to say to the man I was irrevocably in love with.

“You took what you wanted. Then you left me.”

“Doodle,” he whispered.

I had been perilously close to the edge of insanity, and with one single word, he’d pushed me over.

I lost it completely.

Pounding my fists against his chest, I screamed at the top of my lungs, “It’s Eliza! My name is fucking Eliza! Not Doodle!” I spun to march away, but Till’s arms folded around me, lifting me off my feet to restrain me.

I was miniscule compared to him. There was no use in fighting, but I still kicked my legs, irrationally desperate to get away from him—but only because I knew I couldn’t keep him for forever.

“Stop it!” he growled into my ear. “I know your goddamned name—probably better than I know my own.”

While I was wrapped in Till’s strong arms, six months’ worth of tears fell from my eyes. He carried me to my apartment and guided me back through the window before following me inside. Then he stripped out of his blood-soaked shirt before dragging the blankets down and climbing into the bed behind me. I cried for a while in his arms, even turning to face him, only to cry against his chest. I had missed him so much.

I knew I’d loved Till years ago, but this was more. I needed him in order to function on a very basic level. Together, the world didn’t feel so big and overwhelming. He was my escape—the dream personified.

Till Page was comfortable.

His hands trailed up and down my back as he lulled me until the words fought their way out.

“I couldn’t stop going back,” I announced in a broken whisper. “I didn’t know where you had gone. And for the first time since I was thirteen, I was alone inside my own head. God. It was a scary place.” I tried to joke, but the tears streaming down my face told the truth.

“I’m sorry,” he responded on a sigh. “I couldn’t stay.”

“Why?” I whined, but I curled in closer against his chest, needing to feel him more than anything else.

“I don’t know, Doodle,” he lied.

God! It was such a fucking lie. He knew as well as I did. He just didn’t want to tell me.

“Where did you go?” I pressed further.

There was no way I ever could have expected his answer, but that wasn’t because it was a novel thought. No. His answer was surprising because it was the source of my anguish too.

“The real world.” He kissed my forehead.

Originally from Savannah, Georgia, USA Today bestselling author Aly Martinez now lives in South Carolina with her four young children.

Never one to take herself too seriously, she enjoys cheap wine, mystery leggings, and baked feta. It should be known, however, that she hates pizza and ice cream, almost as much as writing her bio in the third person.

She passes what little free time she has reading anything and everything she can get her hands on, preferably with a super-sized tumbler of wine by her side.

REVIEW AND EXCERPT TOUR: TWO WEDDING CRASHERS by Meghan Quinn

AMAZON US | AMAZON UK | AMAZON CA | AMAZON AU

I don’t know what love is anymore.

Well, that’s not entirely true, but I’m going to tell you a little secret: I’ve lost the spark.

You know the kind of spark I’m talking about?

Where butterflies take flight in your stomach from two hands innocently colliding. Or catching your breath when you first meet someone attractive. Yeah, that spark.

Except I haven’t felt that feeling in forever; there is nothing left inside of me.

Normally, this wouldn’t be a problem–but I’m a writer on a serious deadline, and my editor is breathing down my neck for a romantic, Nicholas Sparks type love story. No pressure, right?

That’s how I find myself flying across the country to crash a wedding in the name of research, dress and heels stuffed into my small suitcase.

It should be the easiest book research ever. Drinking some free champagne, basking in the love of two strangers, and tapping into my romantic side. That will be a breeze. I’m a pro. I can handle this.

Until I mistakenly end up in the wrong hotel room, naked as the day I was born, with the sexiest human I have ever met staring me down, wondering what I’m doing taking a shower in his bathroom. I don’t think calling it research will get me out of this pickle.

Review

What I love most about Meghan Quinn’s romantic comedies is that they’re equal parts humorous and emotional; the story lines are rich with playful and witty banter as well as heartfelt moments that create engaging, entertaining, and thoughtful texts that readers can’t put down. And, Quinn’s newest release, Two Wedding Crashers, continues to showcase her ability to tell emotionally driven and laugh out loud stories.

Readers who read the first book in the series, Three Blind Dates, have already met Beck, the hero in Two Wedding Crashers, and while many rooted for Noely to choose Beck, the charming rebel, he wasn’t ready for love quite yet nor had he met the woman who would turn his life on its head when they decided to crash the same wedding.

I really like how Quinn characterized her heroine, Rylee. She’s a romance author who’s fighting an horrendous case of writer’s block, struggling to tell a love story because she doesn’t feel like she knows what love is or means anymore. So, in a show of solidarity, she and her friends go on a road trip to help Rylee find some inspiration…to get her groove back so to speak, and while she definitely acquires some first-hand knowledge that can be used for her next story, what she also finds is a man she has great chemistry with…the same guy she thinks about beyond their weekend fling even if that exponentially complicates her life as well as scares the living daylights out of her due to her painful past and her need to protect her heart.

There’s a depth to Beck that readers will not fully see until his regretful past is revealed, and while Quinn spreads small hints throughout Beck’s perspective, it isn’t until it’s completely addressed that readers will understand why he became the man he is today and what he lives to do in order to assuage his quilt…to make amends for a horrible past mistake.

Quinn provides quite the leading lady in Rylee; she’s quirky, loving, sassy, and when she’s with her girls, she feels freer than she’s ever felt. Rylee’s insecurities will resonate with readers, allowing them to journey with Rylee as she works through her issues and opens herself up to the possibility of something meaningful with Beck, even if neither of them were looking for a relationship.

Rylee and Beck’s story is quite the emotional experience. Readers will laugh, cry, sigh, and even swoon over these two and what’s building between them even though anything long-term doesn’t seem viable to either of the. I love that Meghan Quinn gave Beck is own story after he wasn’t Noely’s choice because as much as Beck seemed to want something with her, the moment he connects with Rylee proves that Noely wasn’t the one for him and thankfully, Quinn found the perfect girl for a man who’s been trying to make up for his past since it happened, and in a way, Rylee’s Beck’s reward for working to right the horrendous wrong that he committed and while some might be less inclined to forgive Beck’s actions, the way that Quinn characterizes Beck illustrates the penance he’s taken upon himself to endure because I don’t think he could live with himself any other way.

Two down…One to go? I can’t wait to see who the hero of book three is…I hoping it’s a certain blind date contestant, but we shall see!

Excerpt

Chills scream their way down my arms and legs, my nipples pucker, and just like that, with one word, all humor vanishes from our little conversation and awareness of this all-consuming man wrapped around me hits me hard.

Gathering myself, I say, “Tell me something Chris and Justine know about you.”

“Hmm.” His thumbs hook under the waistband of my shorts, playing with the lower part of my hipbones. His touch spurs on my pelvis, needing to rock, begging for him to go lower. My toes curl in my sandals and my back slightly arches, reaching for more. “Something they know about me.”

His mouth doesn’t stray from its position against my ear, and his hips start to slowly move underneath me, his legs tangling with mine. Involuntarily, one of my hands hooks the back of his neck as I hold on tightly to him, feeling like I need support from the onslaught of sensation I’m feeling.

I hear him say something, but it doesn’t register in my brain, which has turned to mush as his thumbs stray from my hipbones to right above my pubic bone.

There is no denying how turned on I am, how wet I am from his mere touch, how much—despite my reservations—I want this man.

With each stroke, my head turns farther and farther to the side until our noses are touching, Beck’s head bends forward to meet me halfway. My eyes flutter shut for a brief moment before I open them and am captured by those flecks of green and gold.

The air stills around us, our breath mixing, swirling between us, our lips so close.

One swipe of this thumb.

Another one.

I can’t breathe.

I can’t focus.

Another swipe, my head leans even closer, my tongue wetting my lips.

One more swipe . . .

My heart hammers in my chest, my skin prickling with awareness.

Beck brings his mouth even closer, only a whisper away now, and he waits.

Holding still.

His breathing feeling erratic beneath me.

One.

More.

Swipe.

And I’m gone.

I bring my mouth to his, slowly parting my lips ever so slightly, just enough to maneuver my mouth across his.

A low, provocative moan escapes Beck as one of his hands snags the back of my head and holds me in place, almost as if he lets go, I’ll disappear.

Needing more, I shift on his lap so I’m straddling him once again, my hands on his bare chest, feeling the powerful sinew that holds him together.

Our lips press and mold, mingling, taking, begging . . .

Desperate.

Beck’s tongue runs against my bottom lip, eliciting a moan from deep within me, lighting a fire so hot, so wild, my hands start to travel up his neck to his cheeks where I grip him, positioning his head so when I open my mouth, I can expertly dive my tongue onto his.

He groans, his lap shifting against mine now, his hard-on pressing against my wet and throbbing center. I match his rocking, using my position on his lap to take advantage of his length I can feel through his board shorts.

This is exactly what I didn’t want to happen, but God, am I happy it has. Maybe I really should live in the moment, maybe I should take advantage of the opportunity, maybe I should…

Born in New York and raised in Southern California, Meghan has grown into a sassy, peanut butter eating, blonde haired swearing, animal hoarding lady. She is known to bust out and dance if “It’s Raining Men” starts beating through the air and heaven forbid you get a margarita in her, protect your legs because they may be humped.

Once she started commuting for an hour and twenty minutes every day to work for three years, she began to have conversations play in her head, real life, deep male voices and dainty lady coos kind of conversations. Perturbed and confused, she decided to either see a therapist about the hot and steamy voices running through her head or start writing them down. She decided to go with the cheaper option and started writing… enter her first novel, Caught Looking.

Now you can find the spicy, most definitely on the border of lunacy, kind of crazy lady residing in Colorado with the love of her life and her five, furry four legged children, hiking a trail or hiding behind shelves at grocery stores, wondering what kind of lube the nervous stranger will bring home to his wife. Oh and she loves a good boob squeeze!

Blurb

I’m not a good man, and I’ve never pretended to be. I don’t believe in goodness or God or any happy ending that isn’t paid for in advance.

What do I believe in? Money. Sex. Macallan 18.

They have words for men like me-playboy. Womanizer. Skirt chaser.

My brother used to be a priest, and he only has one word for me.

Sinner.

***Sinner is a standalone companion to Priest about Father Bell’s brother Sean.

You do not have to read Priest or Midnight Mass to read Sinner.***

Review

Sean Bell is not the type of man to ask for forgiveness; in fact, for the most part, he finds no reason to change his sinful ways because Sean has his own religion and the only people he’ll kneel for are the women who he worships with so much more than his hands.

I really wouldn’t call what Sean goes through in Sinner a crisis of faith because he lost his Catholic faith a long time ago, and I don’t believe he wants it back, but he does question and struggle with the idea of finding his ‘proper’ place in life…it’s just that the word ‘proper’ doesn’t quite describe how he wants to spend his days with a woman he can’t stop thinking about…a woman who is quite a bit younger than him…a woman whose faith and beliefs are directly opposite to his own…a woman who believes that she’s been called to serve God…to take God as not only her Lord and Savior but also as the only love of her life.

Considering Zenny’s professed dedication to God, having any kind of sexual encounters with Sean, the ‘sinner,’ could be seen as sacrilegious, but Simone illustrates just how much Zenny and Sean’s chemistry and connection defies standards, boundaries, and perhaps even logic, because their age difference and their seemingly contradictory life goals should be seen as more than barriers to cross, but that seems to be how Sean sees them as, and the more time these two spend together, exploring one another on a carnal level, the deeper their bond grows, which leads Zenny to question her life’s path and Sean to realize that

The sinner and the nun sounds like the introduction of a bad joke, but in relation to Sean and Zenny, they’re the words that should keep them apart…that should have Zenny praying for Sean’s soul, not wanting to commit a multitude of sins with him. But that’s not their story…those monikers are not the true essence of who these two characters, are and Sierra Simone forces Zenny and Sean to be stripped bare, showing readers the many layers of their personalities, the reasons they chose to be on the path they were throughout much of the story, and the truth of their relentless need for each other’s body and perhaps even one another’s soul.

Sierra Simone is a truly gifted writer – one who isn’t afraid to explore taboo topics in deliciously salacious ways. Simone stretches her readers’ minds, forcing them, not necessarily to question their own beliefs when it comes to the subjects explored, but to look beyond their views…beyond their staunch judgments, and try to understand others’ perspectives on love, faith and commitment, regardless of how untoward, immoral, or unethical they may appear to be.

4.5 Poison Apples

Excerpt

“Zenny,” I mumble against her lips, some valiant part of me recognizing that this is far, far beyond the kiss she asked for, and also recognizing that I’m going to come all over the inside of my Hugo Boss suit pants if she keeps it up. Even through the clothes, I can feel her heat, her shameless rolls hinting at where she goes soft and wet between her legs.

Fuck, I want to see it. I want to see her pussy. It’s suddenly all I can think about, all I can want or crave, just one glimpse, just a peek.

“I want to see your cunt,” I say hoarsely, lifting my head.

“My…cunt?” She says the word like she’s never said it out loud before.

“Yeah.” My voice is so ragged right now, so desperate, and fuck, I’ve never felt this frantic before. Like I’ll actually combust if I don’t get this one thing, this one small sight of her secret place.

She lets out a shaky breath, her hand dropping from my lapel to her skirt, which she slowly rucks up to her waist as I devour her lips once more, as I bury my face in her neck and kiss every sliver of skin exposed above her collar. I bite at her ear, at her jaw, my hand finding hers as it pulls her skirt up, so that I’m helping her do it, that we’re doing it together, this forbidden act, this forbidden revelation.

Her forbidden body.

That word, forbidden, spikes through my mind, bringing with it equal spikes of lust and fear. Because yes, it’s fucking hot that I shouldn’t be kissing her, I shouldn’t be begging to see her most secret place, my hand shouldn’t be covering hers as it slides up her thigh-but it’s also bad. Bad even for Sean Bell.

Bad, bad, bad.

RELEASE REVIEW: THE HOOK-UP EXPERIMENT by Emma Hart

1. Hate-screw my high school nemesis.

2. Remember to hate him.

3. Prove my brother wrong.

It should be easy.

It isn’t.

As the owner of Pick-A-Dick, New Orleans’ premier hook-up website, my job is simple. Connect two people for a no-strings, no-expectations hook-up. The plus for my clients is that I’m the one who gets to sift through the dick pics-except this time, they’re required.

My problem? My brother, co-owner of Pick-A-Dick’s sister dating site, doesn’t believe it’s possible to hook up with someone three times and not fall in love.

I disagree. I know it’s possible.

And my disagreement is exactly how I end up reconnected with my high school nemesis, Elliott Sloane. The guy who asked me to junior prom and then stood me up. Who egged my car when I rejected him, and convinced my senior homecoming date to ghost me.

It should be easy to hate-screw him. If only he was still that person, instead of a hot-as-hell single dad, working as a builder to make ends’ meet, fighting for custody of his daughter.

Not to mention packing in the pants department…

Three hook-ups.

One outcome.

Right?

Review

The Queen of Romantic Comedy does it again! And, this time around, Emma Hart had me at the title of Peyton and Peyton’s brother’s premier hook-up website “Pick-A-D*ick,” and while I don’t particularly envy Peyton’s title as the ‘official d*ck pic sorter,’ the whole concept of their hook-up service is as much intriguing as it is scarring based on the pictures that Peyton has the good or bad fortune of sifting through and the endless amount of stories that both she and her brother have in their arsenal to not only prove that their business actually works but also to entertain their friends with as much outlandish behavior as possible.

Peyton Austin is a girl after my own heart – partly because I’m just as snarky, stubborn, and sarcastic as she is and partly because she owns who she is, how she makes money, and how she spends her time. There’s nothing about Peyton that seems manufactured. She is who she is and people either accept her or they don’t; she doesn’t care in the slightest because she refuses to be someone she’s not, even if it’s for a man or maybe especially if it’s a man.

The fact that Peyton is the one who believes that hooking up with the same person three times doesn’t have to develop into something more, changes things up a bit, and while Peyton’s not one to turn down a bet, I had a feeling from Peyton and Elliott’s initial reunion that things were not going to be as easy as Peyton thought they would be because the man that Elliott Sloane has become is nothing like the teenage boy who was a no-show for prom, which means that all of Peyton’s disdain for him has nowhere to go and holding something against someone that happened so many years ago definitely becomes problematic when their hook ups become so much more than random and emotionless.

Once again, Emma Hart creates a scene stealer in her creation of Elliott’s little girl. There’s no way anyone can interaction with her and not be smitten with her innocence and her honesty, and regardless of how much Peyton would like to deny it or perhaps not accept her feelings, she is definitely not immune to this young girl’s charm and loveliness and I know everyone who reads The Hook-Up Experiment will be smitten by her as well.

I’m so glad that Emma Hart is giving readers more of Peyton and Elliott’s story and I love that it changed from an experiment of hooking up to an experiment of dating her brother’s best friend and falling in love. There’s so much still to know about these two as well as their friends, and I can’t leave out Elliott’s daughter because I’m excited to watch her grow up and teach the adults a thing or two about living and loving.

4.5 Poison Apples

By day, New York Times and USA Today bestselling New Adult author Emma Hart dons a cape and calls herself Super Mum to two beautiful little monsters. By night, she drops the cape, pours a glass of whatever she fancies-usually wine-and writes books.

Emma is working on Top Secret projects she will share with her followers and fans at every available opportunity. Naturally, all Top Secret projects involve a dashingly hot guy who likes to forget to wear a shirt, a sprinkling (or several) of hold-onto-your-panties hot scenes, and a whole lotta love.

She likes to be busy-unless busy involves doing the dishes, but that seems to be when all the ideas come to life.
